  1. Lol, no. Gfhockey would be happy with me though, I had a picture taken with Blais. He made some interesting comments about UND, Miami, and about comments from others asking him if he is coming back. I guess he bought shots for a friend of mine, just before I got there. It was a fun weekend for me, even if my favorite team lost to Miami.

    Go Sioux!

    Care to elaborate?

  2. I went and watched Minot vs Davies tonight at the State A tournament and all I can say is that Tanner Kretchman is an absolute stud that UND should have went very hard after. It was the first time I've seen him play. I had heard the stories about how good he is but until I watched him put up 45 on Minot tonight I didn't believe it. The kid is obviously a bit undersized but my god can he score. Easily the best North Dakota shooter since Boschee.

  3. That is a possibility however only a possibility at that. You only went back a few years whereas your initial comment noted that this years team has more skill than many of the past teams (which I would think would go well past the '10-'11 team). Also, I would have to say we have had more talented teams than the '10-'11 teams (easily actually). That was simply the last time we made it to the frozen four; the only tidbit there was we had the best team in the final tourney and couldn't get it done.

I'm just saying next years team, in my opinion, will have the talent to win it all.

    Caggiula-MacMillian-Parks

    Schmatlz-Rocco-Johnson

    Pattyn-Gaarder-O'Donnell

    Simonson?-Chyzyk-St.Clair

    Schmaltz-Stecher

    Thompson-Ladue

    Mattson-Ausmus

    Gothberg

Looks pretty good to me for next year. There is a ton of offensive talent at both forward and defense and a goalie that I expect to be one of the best in the country. Obviously, things will change and who knows who comes in and makes a difference next year but early indications are that we should be real good.

  4. I disagree with Big A regarding the skill level of this team. This team does lack a true blue chip player that many team in the past had but at the same time this team is arguably more skilled than many we have had. We play a different style of hockey than years past. When we are passing well and skating fast we are a heck of a team. Another example is how we carry the puck into the zone. This team is much more suited to carrying the puck into the offensive zone than playing the dump and chase game of the past imo. I think that actually helps us in the NCAAs.

I think we might be one year early this year. Next year we are going to return 3 highly skilled scoring lines and we will have a 4th line with some true grit. Couple that with an experienced Gothberg and next year looks to be a good one.

  5. But NDSU football is the State of North Dakota's team. Just ask the Bismarck Tribune..............even though it was just a couple of years ago posters here said with UND in the Big Sky, Western ND would forget about NDSU and be solely UND territory.

There are more UND fans in western ND than NDSU fans. I've lived in the western part of the state for twenty some years. I see it everyday. Farmers and NDSU grads are NDSU fans. Usually, the small more rural towns are NDSU supporters and the people in the bigger cities and UND grads are UND supporters. Just because people support a North Dakota team in a national championship game doesn't automatically make them NDSU fans.

Just to throw it in there. NDSU might be the state of North Dakota's team at the moment but UND is, and forever will be, the flagship school in the state. Its ok though, second best in everything except football isn't bad. Is it?

There is more to supporting a school than paying attention to a football during a playoff run

  6. NDSU fans, we get it. Your team is better than ours right now. But if you guys think your going to be on top forever and always your gonna be sorely disappointed. Football, at every level, goes in cycles. I'm sure Notre Dame, Michigan, USC ect. all have had the exact same mindset that many of you have right now and look where they are now. Things will change, things will change back, then they will change again. Its the nature of the sport.

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

  7. To be honest its pretty clear I know Carter . But I would say he is way looked over ! I seen this kid lock down top players in state with offers to places like Michigan ,MSU some who play now like Devin Funches TE at mich or Dennis Northlee Rb KR at mich .He has faced top talents from ohio ( clevland st ignatious or Cincinnati Lasalle) Also he comes from a winning program with a coach with most wins in Michigan history . Plus a 3 time champion while there playing in 6th toughest league in nation. His team received a trophy this year for a national ranking. U can see in Sr an Jr film he play cb or SS . Whoever gets him ... True steal !

Not that it really has any relevance here but Devin Funchess is an absolute stud.

  8. I'd agree in most cases, but that dude hit the boards hard. Not saying it was a cheap shot at all, but he went flying into the boards. Could have been a back issue, could have been a broken collar bone, could have had the wind knocked out of him. But lets not pretend that if the roles had been reversed, half the people on this feed wouldn't be complaining ... because of course they would.

Ya I was saying that kinda tongue in cheek. I don't necessarily think it was a bad call. I thought it could have gone either way.

  9. You realize the trainer make them stay down right? Its not even their choice; they hit the boards like awkwardly, they have to stay still until the trainers tell them to get up. I don't deny diving and cheap crap happens, but if you see the way he hit the boards, they were just making sure he was ok. The trainers don't care about penalties, their jobs and licenses and futures are on line if they don't follow protocol.

Only if you stay down long enough for the trainer to get out to you.

  10. My thoughts on Carter:

    The good:

    -Solid fundamentals

    -Good athleticism

-Willing to stick his nose in the run

    -Really good ball skills

    The question marks:

-Needs to get a little faster

-Doesn't have the greatest size; needs to get stronger

-Good hips but hes a little late opening them to run with the receivers, that cushion will get eaten up quick but he'll get coached up on that

I think hes got a chance to be a really good player for us if we get the commitment but like any freshman he has work to do.

  11. I'm sure they have some sight prep done but they will wait to start pouring until this spring. Technically, you can pour concrete in the winter but unless you do everything right as far as keeping temperatures where they need to be you can screw up concrete pretty badly. Probably better that they are just waiting until the spring to hit it hard and make sure the job is done right the first time.
