  1. Bismarck High has 3 kids on varsity from Legacy this year, not sure about the JV team.
  2. Cross check from behind legal now I guess...
  3. I like that all the games will be in the same building in Fargo.
  4. Looks to me like plenty of 1st and 2nd liners getting points all 3 periods against GPR. Also were you at the Hazen game? I seen BHS 4th line get a lot of playing time.
  5. I don't know what the youth numbers look like. Since the growth of Bismarck is all north I know they have looked at moving the boundary line to even it out, or have all the kids that go to St. Mary's and Legacy play for Bismarck High. I was told they did a survey on the kids coming up and if they leave the boundaries the way they are now they will have a problem in the future. Century will have to cut kids and Bismarck High will not have enough kids to field a JV team. This is what I was told by a couple people, but I can't say I have seen the numbers myself.
  6. Demons win 7-0. Shots 54-17. i haven't heard any talk of Legacy team, at least not any time soon.
  7. I do like that idea. Why did they ever stop doing that?
  8. If they did those regions that would mean only one GF team in the tourney, when it's hard to find a year they both aren't worthy. Minot would basically have an automatic state appearance every year. Even though they basically do now in the west already.
  9. I don't see how Hazen can stay HS after this year. Looking at the standings it looks like they aren't competitive at the lowest level of bantams and 2nd lowest peewees. They will have trouble competing at Jr Gold.
  10. Have 1W play 8E, 1E play 8W and so on. Have the first round game at the higher seeds rink. Winner of each game advances to the state tournament. How would you decided seeding at state then? As of now this is what the first round would look like: #8 Grafton at #1 Bismarck High #8 Williston at #1 GFC #7 West Fargo at #2 Minot #7 Bottineau at #2 RR #6 Fargo North at #3 Century #6 Mandan at #3 Devils Lake #5 Fargo South at #4 Jamestown #5 Dickinson at #4 Davies
  11. I believe the final shots were 39-21 for the Demons. Davies goalie had a great game, and the Demons couldn't buy a goal. Shots were 17-3 after 1st period in favor of the Demons. The Demons didn't have their legs. Late night in Dickinson on Thursday, early game Saturday and a game between that as well. Also gotta give Davies credit for rebounding from the Century game the night before. They killed off three first period penalties and put the puck away when they got their chances.
  12. BHS was up by a goal with 2 min left but couldn't hang on.
  13. I believe because he was with the Bobcats and not registered for school at Central. So when he came back he lost his eligibility. Pretty much a crappy deal. Be nice if HS sports didn't hold it against a player for trying to play at the next level and it not working out.
  14. I was told shots were 31-25 in favor of BHS, but that is not official.
  15. I don't think BHS overlooked DL. DL is the best team they have seen so far. It was a good battle, and both teams goalies played great. Neither team was running away with this one. DL got the win and was the better team. BHS needs more of these games.
  16. BHS and DL should be a good game tonight as well! It will be a good test to see how they hang with the top East teams.
  17. I think you have the East teams in the right order. Out west I would still put Century and Minot ahead of Mandan, Dix and Jamestown overall, but I don't think it's a huge gap. Jamestowns goalie will keep them in games. It will be interesting to see if Bismarck can hang with Central. I wish the Central vs RR game was on tv this weekend.
  18. I don't think you can determine hockey culture based on the score of one hockey game either. He's on his 9th year as a coach, wouldn't the school have gotten rid of him by now if he was providing a bad environment? I think its his overall day in and day out interaction with the kids that determines the culture he creates. I can see maybe a comment stating that game got a little out of hand or something, but to call his character out and call him names is a little over the top I think. I don't think Mike has any interest in padding kids stats. Yes he cares about the kids and wants them to all succeed on an individual basis, but in the end it's about the team and trying to hopefully make a run at the state tournament. When you hopefully get to state it doesn't matter what stats anyone put up against HB.
  19. A bad role model? You think this game has any effect on any of these kids lives or future decisions they make in life? You think any of these kids gave two cents about the score two days later? At this point I am thinking you have put more thought into this then every kid on both teams combined. If you brought it up to either kid on either of the teams they would probably give you a look of who cares it happened a week ago, why are you even talking about it. I think it's safe to assume any future events or decisions anyone of these kids faces in their life will be effected absolutely zero by a hockey score.
  20. You act like he just committed a felony and should be strung up. Like there is a huge difference between scoring 24 goals in a game or scoring 17-18, an a** Kicking is an a** kicking period. The score was 20-1 after two periods, so they only scored 4 goals in the 3rd. So in reality the score could have probably been a lot worse. All I am saying is I don't think Mike ran up the score to prove a point or make someone look bad.
  21. I was also wondering for some of those towns that are jr gold if going to a high school team would have funding issues to support another sport?
  22. Either way its a tough situation. It was a 6-point conference game that had to be played, and there was no way around it. Like Ogie mentioned above, do you play keep away and keep the score low and embarrass them that way or do you just keep scoring? I have been on both ends and I know I would rather have a team keep playing, then start playing keep away and making me look silly that way. To me personally that is more of a slap in the face. I know Mike good enough to say it was never his intention to embarrass anyone. His goal is to have a team that is ready the end of the year to try and compete in the state tournament, and a game like that isn't going to help prepare anyone. He ran his 3rd and 4th line more than the top two, but it didn't matter who was on the ice the puck was going in the net. Hazen couldn't even get the puck long enough to ice it. 103 shots is obviously a ton of shots, but when a team can't get control of the puck at pretty much any point 35 shots in period is going to happen. Nobody has said, did RR stop scoring on Mandan last year when it was 16-1, or did they just run out of time before they could get to 20? Not trying to make RR look bad, because in the right situation they probably put up 20 in that game as well. Tough situation all around and I don't think you can't put all the blame all on Mike. If anything maybe some good will come of this and there will be some serious consideration for a two class system.
  23. Coaches, players and parents weren't thrilled about the game. If given the choice all would play an extra game against a quality opponent like a Grand Forks. BHS 6 pointed Hazen, Bottineau and Williston this year. Peluso tried to get into a holiday tournament in MN but the school didn't approve it. So they aren't trying to pad stats with as many easy games as possible. BHS varsity played Hazen Varsity last year for 6 points and beat them 9-0, shots 83-12. Later that year Hazen Varsity beat BHS JV 5-1. If Peluso sends his JV for a 6 point game and they lose everyone is saying how arrogant he is for thinking he can win with his JV. I was at the game and Pladsen didn't play very many minutes. When BHS was on PP the 3rd and 4th lines were on the ice. RR beat Mandan last year 16-1. Could RR have scored more and they stopped scoring? I honestly don't know that answer and maybe they did. I believe Sardelli moved to Bismarck and lives with his uncle and isn't eligible to play this year besides JV. Parisian moved with his parents. I was told Mike Morris isn't playing because his parents thought he would be a target. It is my understanding that if you go to Legacy school or St. Mary's you still go to the school in the jurisdiction you live in. There are players for both CHS and BHS that go to school at either Legacy or St. Mary's.
