  1. I wouldn't mind seeing SCSU take the title as they were a late comer to the NCHC (along with us).  I'm really fine with anyone winning as long as it's not Mankato.  There is a very vocal minority of WMU fans who think we should have gone to the WCHA, and a WCHA national title will finally give them some positives about that conference to bring up.

Andy can scream and holler all he wants but his team had complete control on the face off and his kid put it on a tee for the Duluth kid.

But yeah, probably should have been blown dead.

It was the most "western" way to lose a game ever.  Oh well, maybe next year.... ugh....

-Miami needs a fantastic goaltending performance from a freshman to have any hope....

    -CC needs the same.....

-Western vs. Duluth is a toss up.  If someone can convince Western they are playing at Lawson instead of REA they'll win.

-Denver vs. Omaha.  Must win for Denver.  I think Omaha needs at least one more win to be sure of the NCAA.  Denver is better when they're interested.  I'll go with them.

I agree that WMU - UMD is a toss up.  I would have rather played SCSU to be honest, but oh well.  For WMU Bussi is back in the lineup and looks to be healthy and we're getting hot at the right time.  It's been too many damn years since we last lost in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament.  I'm hoping we make a little run this year and sneak in.

  4. After their first series with Arizona State, I saw some Michigan fans saying they could have the best college hockey team ever assembled..... Those guys are simply the worst.  But I hate Minnesota now too because of fleck, so eff em both!  I hope Mninnesota goes undefeated and loses to AIC or Colgate or something in the 1st round of the tournament (if we have one this year).

Saw on the Western Fan site a few days ago they were discussing how they need

to make the move to the Can't Cut It Hockey Association (CCHA). And that was before the beat down today.

No need to be the punching bag of the NCHC anymore, I guess. I understand they are in a tough spot with their starting goalie hurt, but is it too early to give up on this. A move isn't going to guarantee they are going to be the class of the CCHA. I don't think talent like Wade Allison , Mattias Samuelssons and Dawson Diepietro will be coming to Kalamazoo to face the likes of Ferris State, LSSU and Northern Michigan on a regular basis.

I hope they understand you need about a .700 winning percentage to have a chance at an at-large NCAA bid if you are in that conference.

I'm not sure which fan site you were looking at, but most of us believe the NCHC is the right place for the program.  There is one idiot who keeps talking about how he wanted us in the WCHA, but the NCHC has really given the program an opportunity to grow.  No way we would have been able to bring in the talent we've been bringing in if we were playing LSSU and Bemidji every night.  The team last year had the talent to beat any team in the country (and with a Detroit frozen four anything was possible).  I'm still upset at the timing of this whole Covid thing cancelling the season last year.

Your on the right track. Michigan won't play us unless they're forced to in the NCAA's, beat them whenever you get the chance.

They had a similar thing with us when they left the CCHA.  Red wouldn't schedule us unless we played both games at Yost.  Murray told him to F off and so we only got to beat them when we were invited to the GLI.  That changed when Red retired.

This baseball or baseballs should make for some stories!

Hope you make the NCAA hockey playoffs and by that keep Minnesota from getting in.

That sounds good but why stop there?  Let us also prevent Michigan from getting in while we're at it.

Haha saw this on Twitter from a couple WMU fans. No deal, my friend :)

I still think we can hear from Western down the stretch. Dang good team.

Hopefully we win the next four games and one in the Frozen faceoff.  I'm thinking that should be enough to get us in the NCAAs barring something unexpected.  Do they still have a third place game this season?

Both nights "no goals" were crap calls.

    That should be universally understood.

    Cant help you otherwise.

But at least the refs called it consistently bad.

How about we let you count the Friday goal, and you let us count the Saturday goal?

Draw a line on the movement of the WMU player  at 30 seconds in that video from the circle to contact with the goalie.  He’s moving in a straight line which would be outside the crease. He’s checked by Gooch and his momentum changed by almost 90 degrees.

I’m not complaining, but it’s concerning that the season could end on one of these BS calls which seem to happen frequently.  Thankfully the Friday call didn’t end up mattering.  The Saturday call may keep western out of the playoffs.

Yeah, this one hurts.  The Friday call was weak but those are different scenarios.  Saturday the WMU player was pushed into the goalie.  I get that the refs don't want the game to end on a bad call so that's likely why they let the teams continue to play on, but if WMU doesn't end the year on a run, it'll be a tough one to look back on in this in the offseason.

It was a tough week for officiating as a WMU fan.  This happened as well

I considered the double dip, but after taking in the NFC Championship game in Cali...my CC would rather just make one trip;)

    Lions fan here,

What the hell is the NFC Championship game?

Seriously though, come to Detroit.  It's going  to be crazy with all the WMU fans who are going to be there supporting their team!

We've only got like 6 banners.... might need to get those eyes checked :D

Well they have a player that has taken a penalty for diving this season, for starters. So yes, they dive.

He certainly did get a penalty for it, whether it was a dive or not is open to interpretation... lol

UAH might be able to to sweep up some of the AK programs, better players especially now that they are getting more investment in the program, Not sure if the 7 schools will still leave the WCHA, or simply try to reform the league now that the AK schools are most likely down for the count.I do think you will see them start to put some pressure on Ferris state to invest more in there program.

I don't under stand why Ferris hasn't.  They needed to capitalize on their NCAA finals run at the end of the CCHA.  They could have been a force in college hockey if they really wanted to be but they seem to have let that pass them.

    2.       Force another round of realignment- So as has been discussed before, Miami and WMU are not always thrilled about the amount of long-distance travel required, Likewise Mankato and Bemidji are often less than thrilled about the long bus rides out to MI and OH. A big reason that WMU and Miami have not looked at moving into the new WCHA was the Alaska schools as well UAH, now with the AK schools like out of the Mix its entirely possible that WMU and Miami would look to reexamine their own conference membership, does this mean they will switch? Not necessarily, I imagine there will be a number of things they look into before switching, however without the Alaska schools I imagine it would be much more tempting, even if UAH was added to the new conference later to event out the numbers, that would still create just one long distance trip a year, and from a drag perspective would be only slightly worse that CC is on the NCHC. As to the NCHC it very likely that MNSU and BSU would both apply to be members and from a rankings perspective this would be at worst a lateral move for the NCHC MNSU has in the last few years ranked higher than WMU and even held the coveted no.1 spot several times both in the pairwise and pols, Bemidji has generally been with in a few places of Miami and is often in the receiving votes categories. So this move would ultimately compact the leagues geographically effectively recreating the old WCHA in the NCHC and the old CCHA in the new league, minus the Big10 and Alaska schools.

I can't speak for Miami, but there's no way WMU moves into the new CCHA (which is what I'm calling it) as long as our AD is still around.  She absolutely wants WMU hockey in the highest tier conference they can be in.  She want's WMU to be in a conference with schools that are all Div 1 or at the very least teams that have a huge commitment to hockey.  The only team in the new CCHA that fits that profile is BGSU.  We were fine playing the LSSUs and Northerns of the world when we also got to play Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame all the time, but there's no way we'd voluntarily move our team down to play with a bunch of Gliac schools.

The travel isn't really the huge issue that others make it out to be for WMU.  Kalamazoo has an international airport (with another a short drive away in Grand Rapids) and supplements athletic costs by playing money games against B1G teams in football and charging students an athletics fee.

Also despite what others say, I would also expect there to be an attendance hit if WMU left the NCHC.  Sure, LSSU, and Northern are from the same state, but they traditionally haven't drawn well when playing in Kalamazoo.  We get much more excited to play Denver, SCSU or You guys than the teams from the UP (although we draw well for Ferris usually).

Yeah don’t see SCSU in top 3, maybe not even top 5 with their losses. We’ll see how they adjust to their losses.

Western lost both their starting and backup goalies. And aside from that, I am not drinking their koolaid. They never do anything of note even when they’re supposed to be good.

I got UND ahead of both.

I get that, we have a history of not doing anything.  I'm drinking so much koolaid though, we're going to have more talent then we've ever had.  No goalie, but it's not like we had a world beater last year.

That said, if we have a great year I can totally see us SCSU-ing it and losing in the 1st round against a #4 seed.  That's just how we roll.

We'll just prop him up and play pre-recorded sounds of him yelling at the refs.

Oh man, I hope there isn't some clause in the MAC where 6 teams creates a new conference automatically like there was with the Big 10.  We'd still be a couple teams away, but man that would suck.
