Anyone else annoyed that so many P5 schools don't have a decent message board?  There's paid message boards on websites like rivals and 24/7, but the only topics are narrowly focused on fb and bb.  Is there an online community anywhere for ASU hockey fans (other than a USCHO thread)?   Just baffles me that schools like UND, NDSU, UNI, SDSU, USD, Montana, etc. all have such quality, free, message boards, but bigger schools have crap, and the crap they do have normally isn't even free.

I don't know much about message boards (other than UND has a great one - thank you @jimdahl), but I believe part of the problem with ASU hockey interest is that it has not yet developed a very large fan base.  I think the estimate of 15% ASU fans at the game in an earlier post is too high.  ASU has done some great things with their program in their short existence, but because of their prior lack of a viable arena, location, competing sports and other factors, the fan base is not there.  Hopefully, that changes with their new rink and eventual hockey conference affiliation.

I'm looking for help/advice with the AXS app. There are eight of us going to the game. All the tickets are on my phone. Two of the couples are not very computer savvy. In order to transfer tickets they would need to get and operate the AXS app. The AXS app says I can transfer tickets but it doesn't say I can transfer individual tickets, i.e. two to one couple, two each to the other couples. More than likely we will all be together entering the game. I'm thinking I will just leave them all on my phone and we'll all enter at the same time. Thoughts?

I live in LV and use the AXS app frequently.  When you select transfer, the app allows you to select the tickets you want to transfer, allowing you to transfer individual tickets or more to separate people.

  3. UND and Goofer Fans:  There will be a viewing party of for the UND vs UofM game in LV.  See below.   Also announced on facebook.

Might be worth the trip to LV even without ticket in hand?

Here is info on tailgate party:  https://undalumni.org/HOFPregame

    Hi Robert,

Yes, the game will be broadcast out in the tailgate area of the arena on large screens for those without tickets.

Do you know if the UND vs MN hockey game will be broadcast on the televisions at the tailgate party?

    Thank you,

    Robert

Look, my intent is not to throw anyone under the bus on this deal but instead to shoot down the inaccurate defending of our 'officials' as the Herald referred to them today.  They played it safe and looked to just make a profit by playing at Orleans Arena.  They underestimated the market big time for this game.  7500 seats sold out for this game before the general public and the opposing team had a chance to purchase; sold out 20 months in advance of the game!  I am sure the Orleans Arena has never sold out 20 months in advance of an event.  Not sure if I have ever heard of any event selling out 20 months in advance of an event.  I know there are many UND fans that didn't get a chance to buy tickets for this event that are pissed and rightfully so.  Just think how many MN fans will be irate as well!  There are tons of MN alumni in the Vegas area that have no chance to attend the game as well as thousands of MN season ticket holders.  Don't tell me that our arena or Minnesota's arena aren't always sold out either.  That is very shallow thinking.  This is an event, not just another game.  This is a UND/MN Game in Vegas!  Everyone loves Vegas and combine Vegas with hockey and you knew that it was an easy sell.  In addition, there is no other major city in America easier to get to then Las Vegas.

Our 'officials' played it safe and narrow minded and the left a lot of opportunity on the table.  Hundreds of thousands of dollars in more revenue could have and should have been hauled in by our university.  This in light of the budget cuts our University faces once again.  Those that have the right to be pissed by this lost opportunity should also include those that are affiliated with those sports that again are on the chopping block!

The Ralph didn't even sell out last weekend.  I get that Vegas is a destination trip but let's look at some facts:  MSG was half-full this year, a year after winning a national championship UND hasn't sold out games as consistently in the past, they're only playing one game so you have to assume fewer people are going to make that trip for just the single game.

In hindsight you can believe that UND would sell out an NHL arena (although I don't believe they would for this game), but the costs go up even with more people in the stands.

Granted hindsight is 20/20, but we midwesterners love Vegas.  (See Cratters post above.)

UND thought realistic.  Does 10,000 people in an NHL arena justify the costs?  MN can't get 5,000 people in their own arena so why would they all fly to Vegas for a single game?

Again, what happens when there are 10-11,000 at the arena?  UND loses money.

Buying into the champions club this late wouldn't have gotten you tickets.  The allotment sold out.

    Precisely.

How many UND fans were in MSG?  The arena was half-full.

So 8,000 tickets at MSG isn't a recent and good look at history?

UND chose Orleans because there are significant costs associated with an event like this.  Costs that UND has to recover, especially with all of the budget issues surrounding UND.  As a fan, I'm disappointed UND didn't go for T-Mobile, but I completely understand why not the first time around.

Las Vegas is much more accessible for UND (and Gopher) fans that primarily live in the midwest and west than is NYC, especially with airlines like Allegiant, Frontier and Southwest.  Add in the hotel deals that many of these airlines have and, Yes, I think it was forseeable that this game would have a much higher demand than MSG. The TMobile Arena would have sold out.

Exactly. UND allocated the majority of the tickets to the people who directly support the athletic department. Would have been a pretty cheap investment this year when $135 would have gotten you an easy way to get 2 regional tickets and 4 Vegas tickets.

I looked into joining recently just for the purpose of buying the Las Vegas game tickets, but you had to have joined by a date that had already passed.  Didn't seem to make much sense to limit it like that.

There was only 150 left for sale.  UND administration thought small and didn't get the NHL arena.  This will be the hardest ticket in UND history.  Could have easily sold 20,000 tickets.  15,000+ to UND and 5,000+ to MN.  Lost opportunity...shame on them for thinking small.  MN only has 200 seats for this game!

Schafer would not have picked this nickname and the logo would then have been very different.

Of course we don't know what he had to choose from.  But we do know that it was important to him to have a logo picked out before his interim pres was up. Also, we know that UND graphic design student and others publicly released ideas equal to or better to this logo.  Regardless, Ed picked this.

This is what happens when you let the public decide things that involve design and branding. Leave it to the pros. It's too bad Schafer wasn't here the whole time because the process to pick a name would have made sense and I would assume our nickname would have been better than Foghting hawks. O well... Time to make the best of what we have. I'm just glad we have Bubba leading the way.

According to the information released by UND, Schafer picked this logo.  Not great.

I think once there's a logo it'll be harder to avoid the new name.  Right now it seems forced to say "Fighting Hawks" but when the jerseys all have a new logo, it's on the ice, it's around the arena, the transition will start happening.

I suspect the hockey team jerseys will not display the fighting hawks new logo or name for some time or that any inclusion will be de-emphasized.

Can you clear your browser cache? Odds are it loaded partially once, but now the phone is just serving up that body copy instead of fetching a new one.

I tried that and still does not display.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I enjoy the website and will have to get it figured out.
