For me that Eagles loss and having the Bizon pretty much get beat across the board; gets me real excited about next season. We could possible beat both teams. Realize we play E Eash our last game and only chance at Bizon would be in playoffs!!!!!!

    No doubt about it.

Hahaha. Just think if they would have had to deal with a mascot change like we did. The morons would never have had the smooth transition we pulled off.

    Smooth transition?  Has it happened?

  3. Yes, yes they would, because that's where you have to start.

Well, seeing how some of the members here don't think that an FCS championship is a very big deal, I just made the obvious comment.

  4. There, it's working better now (reply option).  Thanks

I think that it will be a close game.  The Bison defense is not as dominant now, and there isn't a dominant back.  It will come down to turnovers.

  5. Here is what the Bison Faithful think of us, see their comments below, concerning the injury to Wentz-  If Wentz plays, we will absolutely bring more pressure than say maybe a normal game plan to test his mobility.

I don't see this as a blessing. The best way to be sure Carson and our WR are on the same page come conference play is game reps. We may beat the next two teams by 40 points per game but next up is SDSU who will be ready. I don't want a rusty QB for that one.

This may be a blessing in disguise. Stick needs some real reps as we will need both down the road, and next two games are candy ass teams.

Sit Carson until the Jacks game. That will give his ankle 1 month to heal. The Bison can easily beat Weber and UND w/o him.

Actually, he should be fully healed up by Oct 3 when we play SDSU. Until then it's nothing but byes and cupcakes.

It's what one Bison faithful thinks.

  6. And having 2 stud running backs and a stud fullback to join the QB in the backfield didn't hurt either.....not to mention Wide Outs who didn't mind not catching balls but relished blocking downfield.....growing up a Nebraska fan I have to admit I was a fan of watching the option offense.

And having 2 or more stud running backs to back up the backs didn't hurt either.  It was running back by committee most of the time.  The best teams of that era had DI athletes in the backfield and others sprinkled around the rest of the team.  Simdorn and Bentrim were DI athletes that would have played another position with many DI programs.

  7. The veer served the Bison very well for quite a while.  It takes a very special athlete at QB to make it dominant.  We had two guys who made it run like a fine clock, resulting in 5 national championships.  We lost the third potential national championship QB to a serious knee injury.  He wasn't even hit.  Time ran out for the veer.

  8. Is there a video hanging out there?  I'd love to see that.  (Not to rub it in, but it sounds like a great play...okay...maybe to rub it in a little... :D )

Doubt that there's a video.  It was pre-VHS era.  I can still see it in my head.  If you were for USD, yes, it was a great play.  It happened at Dacotah Field in Fargo in a night game.  Pretty sure of that.   NDSU and UND were both very competitive at the time.

  9.  USD went to the playoffs in the 73 season because they beat us and we lost to YSU in our last game.  SDSU was just another game at that time but Mankato had a pretty good team as did UNI.

Was 73 the year when a USD receiver caught a game-winning TD in the end zone while lying on his back?  One of our DBs knocked the ball down and it fell into the receiver's arms.

  10. I can actually agree with this.  Bisonville used to be a great place to just go talk sports.  As more of a football and basketball guy (as opposed to hockey), back in the mid 2000's I could find better conversation about sport in general over there than I could here.  Things seemed to go crazy over at Bisonville around the time they got into the MVFC, about the same time that UND moved to DI.  Can't hardly stand to read that forum anymore now.  For whatever reason, for the past few years they are just as big into putting North Dakota down as they are into celebrating their own success...........

You couldn't be further from the truth regarding your last sentence.

  11. Years ago I used to go to Bisonville to keep up on regional sports talk - had to stop it has gotten so venomous, juvenile, insulting, and incredibly mean-spirited. Yes I know there is some trash talk here but nothing compared to over there. It's like an obsession to constantly comb the web and Sioux Sports in order to compare, trash and question to the extreme everything related to UND. Deny it if you will but the use of names other than the appropriate school initials started over there.

Hard to tell where it started.  I've been around for a long time too.  What you described has been at both sites for a long time.  Do we really have to argue about who started it?

  12. Molen - I'd love to have you take this message to Bisonville and report back on the results.

It's a message that I've consistently communicated there.  Some get it.  Some don't.  Some never will - neither here nor there.  I will continue.  We have two great universities with different strengths and weaknesses.

  13. Both schools will have their eras of dominance.  There will be upsets along the way, as there always have been.  Hatred runs deep from both sides.  There are very few people who really support both programs.  I would suggest that we use the proper titles when addressing the other.  NDSU and UND.  That amount of respect is achievable.

There are some Bison football fans who support UND hockey.  That is a fact.  I know a few within my own family.  I cheered for UND in the Frozen Four.
