  1. My opinion:

This being August, I wouldn't consider a commitment received now (or in the last few weeks) to be early. It is becoming more commonplace for a prospect to make his decision prior to the start of the HS season. At the FCS level, there aren't a great deal of kids changing their minds and going elsewhere (although it does happen). Most schools have seen a prospect at camp and on film so they have a good idea of their talent level. So if a school has "done its homework", I don't think there is much risk - other than the player having a serious injury during his senior season.

Therefore, I think getting a bunch of commitments at this time of the year is great - I wish we had more than one. That said, we often compare ourselves to NDSU. They are on such a roll right now that recruiting is relatively easy for them - for good reason. I follow recruiting very closely and most FCS teams have commitments from very few players. When I looked at this a few days ago, the recruiting websites had SU with 10 but no one else (that we compare ourselves to) even had five (SDSU had 4). I am sure it isn't fact but Montana, MSU, USD didn't show any commitments yet. Wyoming only had three. Again, these services certianly don't provide 100% accurate info.

Bottom line - I would love to have 10 or so commitments but only having one doesn't overly concern me. Bubba and has crew will bring in a very talented recruiting class.

The Jacks currently have 7 commitments. Also, considering UND has sucked since moving up,comparing yourselves to the Bison and SDSU is really a stretch.

  2. UND went undefeated against NDSU last season in all areas of head-to-head athletic competition. Secondly, the University of Minnesota is a prestigious university with high academic rankings. In most academic disciplines, the University of Minnesota possesses greater academic rankings than the University of North Dakota; therefore, due to transitive relation principles, the University of Minnesota possesses significantly greater academic rankings than the North Dakota State University of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.

Not that i care, but i'm guessing that part in bold is false.

Everyone should re-read this thread and keep in mind that NDSU just scheduled a home and home with Weber State. GT doesn't want the orginal H/H but an all Fargo H/H or a one game fought in Fargo. Its really amazing on both sides especially the Bison fans posting their thought.

(Keep in mind this started before the 2011 season)

So you would call UND a powerhouse during their transition? Fact is your AD has had contracts for games and he's decided not to.

I am sure we could have given your 3-8 team of '09 a tough game. But thats right you guys only want home games. Thats why you guys will never win a national title...you have to play OUTSIDE the Fargodome. 0-2 at the Alerus is a not impressive! Please state the reference to this "fact"? And don't give me a link to Bisonville.

  4. South Dakota St has to play DIII-Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2014 so maybe UND can get a another home and home with them in upcoming seasons starting in 2015. USD plays William Penn this year so UND has gone the longest among the 4 Dakota teams without playing a non DI team (2012). Hopefully SDSU learned their lesson from the loss to UW-Lacrosse and never overlook anyone.

After thumping UND twice in the last 3 years, the Jacks decided to upgrade their non-conf. schedule and play a D3 school. More of a challenge.

  5. I stopped by to check out Bisonville and they in general are very obsessed with UND as usual. They like to make fun about how bad our sports programs are and we shouldn't have a Junior Champions Kids Club. They must really have some bad memories down there. It seems to me we own them in all the major sports they are willing to play us in. We smoked them in Men's basketball and Volleyball. We beat them in Women's basketball and Soccer . If a person was unaware you might think the results were just opposite of what they really are. The conclusion is that they are apparently unaware at NDSU.

Volleyball and soccer are "major sports"? lol

  6. No, about 13k like your dome did just 4 short years ago. I hope you know when your reign is over and you spew out some 6-5 seasons your fanbase will dwendle down to the numbers in the pre 2010 season. Remember the Babich era, I hope so you are headed that way because God, oops that's GT, Jesus left for Wyoming.

The Bison averaged 16k 4 years ago.

  7. UND boat raced the top Summit team in Grand Forks. Montana beat the Jacks in Brookings. That being said, SDSU has looked like they are figuring it out and if UND plays like they have been on the road, the Jacks will win.

Lol We haven't played the Bison yet and UND hasn't played the Grizz yet,not that comparative scores mean anything anyway.

  8. Dexter said 1,800 tix sold for this game. That's pretty good since the students will be gone.

Sounds like more of the same. We are way more athletic, but they'll play zone, and that has stumped us so far.

We are so much better than the Jacks, but I'm not confident heading in. Win this game and it will do a lot toward heading into Big Sky play...................

    Based on what?

  9. how far out is the scummit league tourney scheduled at sioux falls arena??? interestingto see if/when the tourney gets closer to tulsa?

"SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority have reached a long-term agreement that will keep The Summit League Basketball Championships in Sioux Falls through 2017. A new five-year contract, beginning in 2013, was approved by The Summit League's Presidents Council. The agreement includes an option for five additional years that would keep the league's premier event in South Dakota's largest city from 2018-22."

  10. Oral Bob board is talking they need to be in the Slummit to get a MVC bid. The MVC wants a Midwest school in a Midwest conference for their next pick.

By joining the Slummit, they can replace Mo St so Wichita State it not an island.

ORU did not like the Southland because it was not paired with Texas-Arlington anymore. The divisions included them with La and Ark schools, which didn't do them any favors.

You have a link to that thread? I ask because the only thread i saw over there doesn't have any of the things you're saying. Of course you could be full of it........

  11. NAU got smoked by Montana State too and MSU isn't in the playoffs. NAU also didn't play Eastern Washington. By the way SDSU also almost lost to UND. That doesn't say much for the MVFC.

    LOL They did?

  12. If UND and the Summit are such a match made in heaven, where are:

    - the MVFC invite

    - the Summit invite

    - the fiscal analyses showing $(Summit + MVFC) > $(Big Sky)

As The Bard said, "Me thinks thou doth protest too much" when it comes to the droning on by Summit fans at this time. As SiouxVolley points out, the Summit is dangerously, precariously, close to losing its autobids in key sports (i.e. MBB).

All this noise from the SDSU board, and from the NDSU fans here, comes across to me as the classic marketing/sales technique called "herd mentality" (with the association to NDSU's mascot being a coincidence). "Herd mentality" sales are based claiming "everyone else is doing it" or "get in now before everyone else". Get into WHAT exactly? A conference that didn't take in UND Baseball? An alignment that would've (and still would) put UND FB out in the cold?

To me the Summit would have to approach UND with a package that makes it clearly stronger than what UND has today in the Big Sky ... and I don't see that happening because the Summit can't produce that.

All of what noise? I read through that 7 page thread, there was a couple of mentions of UND. Get over yourself

  13. I'm still befuddled as to why the SDSU coaching staff went away from Zenner in the fourth quarter. At the beginning of the quarter after his TD he needed only 14 yards to tie his record and thats all he had the rest of the game. Had SDSU managed to let this one slip through their fingers the head man would have had to answer some tough game management questions.

It's not uncommon for our coach to get a good lead and then take his foot off the gas. It's the play not to lose theory. Really maddening.

Anyway, that was an entertaining game. UND has a couple good young quarterbacks that are only going to get better. Hardin is the real deal. Even though he was burning us he was a lot of fun to watch. Good luck to your team the rest of the year. I think your going to win a lot of games.

  14. D2 schools are now FCS counters?? Since when? It certainly must have changes recently.

Yes,they they made it a rule just last week. It's called the "Bison/Beck rule". NDSU can schedule D11 State and not hurt their playoff chances and Bohl can suspend Travis Beck for a meaningless game and appear to be tough on violence.

  15. NDSU has handed out its punishment for Travis Beck and he will be suspended for all games in June and July for the 2013 season! :D

I predict there will be a press release about the first of August announcing that he is cleared to play. Also a quote from Gene Taylor:" This kid has been through enough."

  16. Well either the UWGB beat writer is way out in front or he is a complete fool for already putting an article about it in the Green Bay Gazette website. Pretty reckless reporting if it isn't true.......

While this all might end up being true, there seems to be a lot of misinformation being put out by the media.I'm talking about in general, not just this story. With their industry in so much trouble you would think they would do better.

That said, here is another story with denials of a Horizon offer to Oakland: http://www.fox11online.com/dpp/sports/college/oakland-comments-on-horizon-league
