So after two posts of accusing me of name calling, when I call you on the fact that I did not name call, you respond by saying everyone needs to calm down? Impressive..
And then after I point out the false accusation, IraMurphy post more rehototic accusing people of name calling?
Where is all of this name ccalling??
Is that what this clan of "get over it" activists does? Just simply make things up to paint the picture which serves them best?
My post which started the last several posts was simply to point out that 82 was incorrectly portraying history. Almost all of the negative responses that you all have come up with have revolved around name calling and not being able to get over the debate about the name. It is truly truly amazing how you all manipulate a debate. The one constant I see is that you all always make it about something else:
Name calling, crying, not giving up on a fight, belittling, yada yada yada. You all just making stuff up as you go.
Again, I was challenging 82 on his assertion that the 2012 vote indicated the Sioux people's position regarding the use of their name.
That's all. That's it. Nothing more.
And I have called no one a name.
Further and to be clear, I have zero interest in debating with you all about the value of our name -The Sioux- or the unjust events which have occurred or who did or didn't do something to prevent this rape (look it up spellckeck 83) and assassination of our name. I have been down that road and the character of the "get over it" team who post like rabbits hump on this board has been clearly revealed to me.
Like I have said about 8 times now. I am simply calling out 82 on being manipulative in his B.S. accounting of history.
Calm down.

students just voted 3 to 1 to keep North Dakota on the ballot. Yet 3 of 4 "representatives" on the committee voted to take it off.
It's pretty obvious the committee members represented only themselves and voted accordingly, yielding the cluster of 5 choices that remain.
15% of the students voted to keep North Dakota on the ballot.

lol...have you read this?
Nothing like using a sample size of one to prove a point, especially before a name is even picked or not.

"I strenuously object? Is that how it's done? Hmm? Objection, your Honor! Overruled. No, no. I STRENUOUSLY object. Oh! You strenuously object. Then I'll take some time and reconsider."
Awesome

I think he should have named this thread: " My mind's made up and nothing anyone says is going to change it"

Bison fans are just too stupid or lazy to google.
Google Texas and ACC, or Oklahoma and Big10.
They really need to be spoon fed like the babies they are. Guess they just got off a turnip truck.
So,you post a link, mention 3 specific items that one would assume are in that article and posters are suppose to know they have to google two of those items? lol You're a goofball

I resent your misleading thread title.
I think he should have named this thread: " My mind's made up and nothing anyone says is going to change it"

I haven't spent much time following the nickname issue (thank God), but I popped over to see what's going on. My suggestion on this issue is: read the agreement.
I thought this thread was silly. (Of course no nickname is fine, as it is plainly not offensive.) I was surprised to see the agreement clearly state that UND must transition to a new nickname and logo which do not violate the policy. Wow, who drafted and signed off on this thing?
I'm not a lawyer but it seems to me UND would at a minimum need a legal opinion or some kind of formal no-action letter from the NCAA stating that "no nickname and logo" would not violate the agreement.
Perhaps the NCAA has some rule requiring all member schools to have a nickname and logo. If not, UND may be in the unique position of being the only member school legally required to have them. Hilarious.
For the record, I'd love UND to permanently have no nickname and logo.
You don't want a logo either? How come?

Just curious and i don't know if it was a criteria of the committee ,but President Kelley said it would be nice to have a nickname for cheers, chants, and songs. During the 3 years or whatever length of time it's been with no nickname, what have you been cheering, chanting, and singing at your sporting events?
-
For the audience playing along at home:
If you had to guess at the break down of the "no nickname" camp ....
__% really sincerely mean no nickname and won't use the old name
__% want no nickname so they can de facto the old one into the void
__% want no nickname because they believe they can get the old nickname back some day
15%
75%
10%

Easily, as he's exhibited underwhelming "leadership", vision, and performance many, many times.
However, I easily see this (scripted) scenario playing out:
He "restores" it to the list (white hat for his legacy) and then the NCAA comes in as the bad guys once again.
Win-win for Kelley.
If he is looking for a scapegoat, he has/had one......the committee. They voted the no-name off. Agree or not, they did their job. All he had to and should do, is accept their decision. Respect the process and move on.
-
Like I said before ...
Let's read Kelley's exact words:
Much ado about nothing folks. He tipped his hand in his wording.
He'll "further review all the feedback received" and work with his consultants (and his retirement party planner Dr. Eric Longie) and they'll help him verify as he's already said," ... it is in the best interest of the University to have a new nickname ... "
Or, he'll call the NCAA and have them be the bad guy in this with a "no nickname doesn't meet the intent of the settlement; name or naughty list" letter.
He might already have that card in his pocket.

Too many did nothing. Too many did not enough.
Interesting thread....

Yes, UND represents a lot more than just the south side of Grand Forks. But you are discounting the fact that the schools are less than 2 miles apart, that they are covered by the same local media, and that there are thousands of local and regional people that are either affiliated with both schools or are at least familiar with both schools. None of these factors are true for your comparisons of Hazen or Milnor, which means that those comparisons are not very relevant. That was my point. The situation of having UND and Red River using the same nickname is not comparable to any local situation, and definitely not similar to Hazen or Milnor. The only comparison that I know of that is close is Iowa State Cyclones and Ames Little Cyclones. That is a case where the high school copied the college team, but added Little to acknowledge the fact that they were the different team. Not a case of the local university copying the local high school with the exact same name.
The Iowa Hawkeyes local high school is "The Little Hawks".

Yes, because it is still an option to choose for a nickname from the people in the 'know'!
lol

I was hoping SDSU would land Baker but i'm hearing there's not much interest from him. Also heard UND was the front runner but he wants to visit a lot of schools before deciding.

It's youI don't watch much basketball, but the gophers seem really classless to me with the taunting and gesturing. Is it just me?
-
Lol at UND fans talking smack about NDSU. You just lost to Weber freaking State!
-
He kinda looks like his cousin (body style and shooting form).

Just watched 60 minutes. Nick Sabin was on and he is not concerned with the scoreboard. Just playing every play to perfection. Winning will follow. Bubba is on the right path. patience
LMAO

I said the very same thing nut Southpaw wants to run this board and won't put up with that kind of talk. He says he doesn't want speculation. As if sports message board are all speculation. That's why people visit them.
Bresciani has to postion NDSU to be in good graces with the Big Sky. The Big Sky won't put up with an AD who has it in for one of its schools. NDSU had to do an about face to go FBS with the Big Sky. NDSU doesn't want to saddle the next AD with having to make up to UND. This is the only opening as they start interviewing AD candidates next week and NDSU doesn't want this brought up to the candidates.
If NDSU gets in the Big Sky, the league will schedule NDSU in Grand Forks in 2017 or 2018 and NDSU will still have to pay UND for the 2019 FargoDome that they normally would have got for free.
Seems reasonable

Bubba wanted this game. He was instructed to say nothing.

Faison has made us NDSU's bitch and needs to go. He can't leave fast enough.
Nah. he's a tough negotiator. Back in February NDSU offers UND 2 games in Fargo for $380,000. Now,Faison takes advantage of an A.D.less NDSU and agrees to 2 games in Fargo for $265,000. LOL
