Just read on areavoices that Hennessey is not and will not be in St. Paul for this weekend due to health concerns. Best wishes Tim, we are all hoping everything is alright, and you have a speedy recovery.

Just throwing in my take: all teams have obnoxious fans. Because of the overall number of Sioux fans, we have more obnoxious fans that most - if not all - teams in college hockey. Lets not start threads bashing every other school's fans because their threads about our fans could and would be a lot longer, containing terrible stories of drunken idiots. Having said that, go Sioux.

These guys are a good team. The game they played against CC was very impressive. They played a balanced game where they brought it for 60 minutes. The only thing I am hoping for is this: TV timeouts don't hurt the Sioux's depth. Michigan's top 2 lines are solid, but beyond that, they cannot compete with our 3rd and 4th lines. If TV timeouts stretch the game, they will be able to rest their top 2 lines and keep them out as long as possible. If the game is close after 2 periods, the Sioux's depth and balance will bury Michigan in the 3rd. In their press conference following the CC win, someone said ( think senior defenseman-turned-forward Scooter Vaughn) this team (Michigan) is going to do something special. Bury them early and give them no hope. Get at Hunwick early and leave no doubt as to who is the best team on Thursday night.

Took it down quick
If you are referring to the KFAN/Kristo thread, yes I did. My initial post made clear that I didn't want to start a "lets bash-someone" thread. I tried to lock it so no one could comment on it, but couldn't. If you have a problem with me taking that down, you are welcome to your opinion.

You could go the MasterCard route:
Tickets to Get in the Door $200
Hotels for the Weekend $500
North Dakota fans taking over the State of Hockey Priceless
Some things money can't buy, for everything else there's the Hakstol Card
+1

Obviously national championships trump all, but you missed the point of the post. Considering only five coaches have won national championships during Hakstol's tenure, I could rank him sixth along with the other 52 head coaches.
I understand the point of the post; I was just presenting a counter-argument. For the record, I agree with you; I would take Hak over any coach in the nation.

The obvious thing that was ignored is the most important stat: national championships. Lets hope that all changes in 10 days

This could be done with a picture of UMD's logo, but it would be funnier if it were Goldy:
Picture of Goldy
with caption: Minnesota: Land of 10,000 Excuses

Not to be a stickler, but if you are going to offer "advice" it is wise to spell names correctly. It is FRATTIN (with an "I") not FRATTEN (win an "E"). Otherwise, fair assessment

Schlossman and Hajdu make good points via Twitter: whether or not you agree with a certain voter's ballot (in this case Ciskie), you have to give them props for posting it for all to read (and rip). Having said that, Ciskie seems to have his UMD googles on when making his selections. To each their own, gotta love democracy.
To clarify any confusion, I think most of his selections are crazy

None of you brainiacs have MacWilliam in for this? He is by far our best defenseman and will be the greatest flight risk aside from Gregoire. Andy Mac just kills people on the ice and is the most solid defenseman we have. Period! Can't think of anyone in the league I would rather have on the blueline! Nothing against Chay but he is a 3rd teamer for this award, IMO. Blood is very deserving of a 2nd team vote. Of course, people will vote on offensive stats for the most part and Chay will make 1st team by reputation and offensive production.
Agreed that Mac is one of our best defensemen, but 0-6-6 is not All-WCHA material. Don't get me wrong, I love having him on our team; he is a beast. Greatest flight risk aside from Gregoire though? Hardly.

Wins is a team stat. Isn't Adam Hauser the all time wins leader in league history? Thats all I need to know about that stat.
Thats a good point on Hauser. But you are strengthening my argument. Clearly you don't think Hauser was 1st team material, right? Well Hauser's GAA his last season at UMTC was 2.40. Thats not too far north of Patterson's 2.31. And since you don't think Dell's SV% is worthy of 1st-Team honors; you can't think Patterson's GAA of 2.31 is worthy?
-
I put Dell on the first team and Patterson on the second team. I recognize that Patterson is the Gophers' MVP and that he had an outstanding year leading the conference in save %.
My criteria is Wins, GAA, sv%, and Shutouts with the tie breaker being team success.
Dell wins the comparison against Patterson in 4 of those 5 criteria. They both deserve to be all conference, and they will be. I don't know how you put the goalie on the 5th place team over the goalie on the conference champion all else being considered. I think Patterson is a great goalie, but you don't make the first team on save % alone.
I agree with everything you said. Well put
-
There's no way Dell should be first team with the 7th best SV% in the league Im sorry. He's at .912 while Patterson is at .926.
Leads the league in GAA, Win %, and has played the 2nd most minutes of any goalie in the league. Although minutes played isn't the best measuring stick, it has some relevance. If Dell doesn't have the year he had, UND doesn't win the WCHA regular season. To say there is "no way Dell should be first team" is a bit premature. The argument is debatable (obviously); not as clearcut as you make it seem.

Although the Sioux women deserve to be in this year's tournament, they had a great season and have added a lot to their fan base this year. Next year should be great (judging by the recruits they have coming in - if they can clear the NCAA's clearinghouse) with their returning players. Great season ladies!

According to Jason Hajdu, Chay has signed with the Minnesota Wild. Good luck to the captain!
