If they really are in the market for a JUCO big, it may take 'til May to find out if they are going to find one. National Tournaments are going on now, kids don't usually start considering options until after that, and then JUCO tend to take their time. They have been recruited before, and know how good they are.

Just to throw some names out there. Over the last two years in the state of Minnesota these players have gone out east: 2009- Anne Berner (6'4" Forest Lake), who I just noticed is no longer on the roster at Rhode Island, I do believe she was on the same team as Nipe and Taylor Hill of Ohio State. Briana Edwards (6'1" Mpls. North), played in every game for Providence this year. Megan Nipe (6' Centennial), started 10 games as a freshman but only played in 4 games this year for George Washington, I believe I heard that was due to injury. Not certain though, I tend not to follow them after they leave the state. From the looks of it, no one went out east in 2010. So I guess this kind of narrows it down. I know from relible sources that the Sioux women are looking to get bigger. They would like to play Buck at the 3 at times, and not be exclusively a four. Isn't the scholarship that is available Shyla Kuhel' that would mean Berner makes sense right? Just gossiping.

She transferred to Osseo from a school in North Minneapolis this year to get more exposure, From what I was told, she is a lockdown defender with an underrated offensive game. However, my source was secondhand.

I think Roerich will contribute more quickly than many in the Valley think. 1. She has a very quick first step with good mechanics. 2. She finishes very well with touch on either hand. 3. She is strong enough to absorb contact and finish off the drive. I believe she will be a primarily a 3 at the next level, but she could be a 4 on spot duty. Her shot mechanics are horrible, thus contributing to the 25% 3 percentage, but that can be fixed over a summer.

I would assume that the Sioux are looking to get bigger and faster. I don't think Farroh is fast enough to play at the level Roebuck wants to play. She is probably strong enough, but honestly, I question if she can play the spot like Madi Buck or Corey Lof, and I would rather have Houdek and Wall. I would bet they use Shyla Kuehl's scholarship to get a Youngblunt type of player with a quick first step, someone who is game ready whether that is a JuCo player or not, I don't know. It was obvious when they played Gonzaga that they needed some depth at the 4 spot to match up with the best teams in the nation. Since then they have pulled the redshirt on Buck, and they need one more player.

Evan was awful on defense in high school. So was his father, and as a former college assistant, I know that you really have to teach every kid that walks in the gym how to play defense at the college level. I think Lindahl can learn how to play it, but he really doesn't have to now with the low level of Class B. This goes to my earlier point, kids will work harder for the team they always wanted to play for, because of the pride the have instilled in them by putting on the jersey. Kueber has matured quite a bit, I would say he has put on 15-20 pounds of muscle and has given a much more polished game. Plus he has a redshirt year left, develop him for a year and have him ready for the first two seasons in the Big Sky.

On the Recruiting class this year, I would not be surprised if Lindahl and Gus Kueber from Lake Region State are in Sioux uniforms next year for a number of reasons. 1. Kueber and Lindahl are 6'7" with athletic bodies that would fit well in the the pick and roll offense. You can not teach height, and height with athletism is rare to surface in the middle of UND's recruiting area. Lindahl has a very nice jump shot, and with time could be better than Patrick Mitchell if given time to develop. Kueber is in the Mitchell mold as well, except he is a better shot blocker right now. He will need a year to adjust, however. 2. Unless they find a "game ready" big man, both these kids have wanted to play for UND since they could first shoot. Kids like that develop at a faster rate than a project that has never heard of Grand Forks before a visit. 3. Shot blockers are rare, and in Kueber's case, he is playing at the NJCAA D1 level and putting up 11ppg, 7 rpg, 3 apg, 1.5 bpg, 48% FG, and 38% from 3 point range. Lindahl is horrible on defense, but both Kueber and Lindahl could be redshirted and be ready to play in the Big Sky in 2012. We really don't have a shot blocker like Kueber on our team, he needs more muscle, but he is as good of an option as their is out there in the junior college ranks. I guess my point is. Height is the hardest thing to recruit because everybody needs it. We have two athletic players with height in our recruiting area right now. Unless they find something that can help them right now, and be a game changer for the program. These are the best options long term. Just my opinion
