Complacency?  They just hired Buning and Faison back to back.

We won four conference titles in one year with arguable the laziest AD in all of college sports.  What could we do with somebody who actually cares about UND and wants to work year round?

Four conference titles that belong to the Big Sky and then they laid/laying an egg the following year. They better work harder. When they start playing in the MVFC and summit league i dont see conference titles coming that easy.

It's a fair question but it's not as if he could blame Faison in a public forum setting.

I kind of wish i could have attended the public forum. Why didnt they do some sort of facebook live event with these? Since it is 2018...

Does an AD need experience/relationships?  It’s definately helpful but is it needed.  My opinion is you can surround yourself with that if needed.

The next hire has to meet the need for UND.  Right now that could be fundraising and getting the old guard to open the checkbook or new businesses to donate.

For me a well thought out vision is key.  Newly restructured dept. that has opportunity for growth

I understand your point but if werent just talking about fundraising what does Mannausau bring to the table. If he says you need me to bring in more money to the athletic department. My question to him during the interview would be...why arent you already doing that?

    I'm a Mannausau guy.

Our last two "outside" AD hires haven't exactly hit home runs.  I say give him a shot if he interviews well.

Hired by Kupchella and Kelley. I wouldnt blame them but the ones hiring them. I want to believe that Kennedy knows what to do. And i want to believe he will hire with assistance of other intellects who will put more importance towards Basketball and Football since hockey can hold its own.

Now some name-calling, careful, your intellect is showing.  Other than disagreeing with your statement that UND should never promote/hire internally, I'm not sure what your argument with me is.  But please continue with your uninformed statements and assumptions regarding the AD candidates.

Geez....loosen the belt Francis. Dont have to be so uptight. Are you always this sensitive?

Haha settle down scooter. I just though it was a bold statement to say he would bring us closer to D11. Do you know him personally? Because if you don't then how do you know he wouldn't make a tough decision? Personally I think I would want Chaves but I also think it is short sighted to write Mike M off without hearing from him.

With the given situation I'm between Chaves and Porter. What's Eastern Wash's Athletic budget compared to ours?

I do know him. Let's just say I was once a Mug Club owner as well.

Will you elaborate on this some more? I would like to know why you think he would move us closer to D11?

I have spoken. Now let's hear your rebuttal....

I cant get this image out of my head of UNDBIZ and UNDvince97-01 on the left.

Looking at the fundraising (Mannausau's expertise) that have taken place. What has he done that no other fundraising group (at the FCS level) hasn't done? What relationships does Mannausau have with the ladies and gentlemen of the NCAA?   If Bubba and company continue to have losing records do you think Mannausau has the balls to let the GOBC down and fire Bubba and company? The main reason I don't feel Mannausau is the right fit is because of the relationships he has within UND when times get tough.

I dont know because I'm not there in the forums and havent seen them in person or heard their visions.  I also don't know what Kennedy wants in an Athletic Director.  Two huge variables.

If you are in GF, maybe go to Mannausau's public forum today and listen to his vision and plan.  THEN come back and tell us he's crap.

Unlike Mannausau I have left Grand Forks so I wont be able to make it but you know what. I'll just sit back and wait to say I told you so.

Did you read the second sentence?

Perhaps we should be targeting another raspy voiced white-hair from New Mexico or California then.  I'm not arguing in favor of Mannausau, I'm arguing against your ridiculous assertion that all internal hires/promotions would be bad.

Thanks for clearing that up but as I stated earlier. This isn't a posting opened up due to a head coach leaving and his assistant trying to fill his shoes. Otherwise I would agree with you.

There are two separate entities here.

There was a 'search firm' used (Bill Carr) to help find and recruit the best pool of candidates possible for the 'committee' to choose from.

The 'search firm' had absolutely nothing to do with selecting the finalists. The 'committee' chose the 4 finalists.

So we can blame the firm for serving the committee's plate with a bunch of crap?

  13. 34 minutes ago, UNDBIZ said:

So if Mannausau is the best candidate, we shouldn't promote him to AD anyway because we already spent money on a committee and a search firm?

Now, I don't believe Mannausau to be the best candidate at this point, but I've got to disagree with your reasoning and absolute statements regarding internal hires/promotions.

If he is the best candidate that really doesn't say much for the candidates who applied. UND is small time and should just move down to DII if they hire someone with absolutely no experience whatsoever! And the fact that you are arguing this makes me believe that people like you are the reason why UND DI transition has gone so poorly. We need someone with new visions....not just visions of what they know from their time at UND.

I don't support that notion, but I also know the grass isn't always greener on the other side.  I don't like the message of "if you want to get a promotion, you have to leave for another school" either.  Talent can certainly be grown and promoted from within, I'm just not sure Mannausau is ready yet.

How about this committee that was formed to help the hiring process? There is a committee, correct? So if they end up hiring Mannasau I imagine they will refund the University. SMH....
