Well, the NCAA has me baffled on this one. So you can receive a DQ in an exhibition game, but you cannot serve one? That makes no sense. OH well. So both teams will be hurt in their contests with BC (Duluth this weekend, the Sioux next weekend), so in a way, it is being fair.

I would agree with Marty. Now if it WAS a racial slur like the Washington Redskins, then there may be a problem...but I have no problem with Sioux or Fighting Sioux. Mascots are powerful symbols meant to inspire solidarity and a fighting spirit. I doubt the Boilermakers are getting a big uproar from those tradesmen Purdue has chosen as their schools symbol. I think the whole issue of the name change is ridiculous. It's probably just the ultra-left PC crowd making all the fuss, and I just tend to tune them out anyway.

I disagree with you on the Prpich DQ. I think he has to sit out THE NEXT GAME, regardless of the type of game that is played. I may be wrong, but I'm fairly sure that's the way it's done. Sounds like both announcers missed what actually went down on the Fuher goal. I just wish I could have seen it myself (lousy dataflix).

If they haven't been canned...

Exhibition games are just that...exhibitions. They do not count towards PWR rankings whatsoever. Can you imagine a team not making the playoffs because they lost to the Latvian National Team?

He didn't "work him like a clown" until Peluso lost his skates. Until then it was pretty even IMO. Despite the decided size advantage for Prpich. Peluso 5-10 160 Prpich 6-0 180 I'll agree that Prpich won, how can I not, but it was not a massacre.

Same here!! I would like to see the first four goals...but not bad enough to pay for them. Think I'll just listen to the audio from now on.

Thanks PhoenixFan!! Although the game did not have the result I was hoping for, and dataflix screwed the pooch on the streaming feed, it was still a very enjoyable battle. Looking forward to seeing the teams square off again Dec. 12-13 up at the Ralph! For now...the Dogs have a very difficult schedule, playing BC, Michigan State (or Findlay, depending upon tournament results), then Minnesota at Mariucci, before finally getting Anchorage at the DECC. At least there will be no doubts about our schedule strenght this year! Sounds like the Sioux have a fiarly strong NC schedule as well. Good luck to both teams!! Hope to see them both end up near the top!

Seriously, Pheonixfan...I'm 99% sure that Prpich can sit out an exhibition game and then play in the next game vs. BC. If anyone has the rulebook handy, now would be the time to whip it out. But I believe it does not matter what the next game is, he sits. AS for the fight...well...i'll give you that one. I'm sure Peluso at least held his own against Prpich even though he was overmatched, but as for the decision I guess you had to be there to decide it. I think the game was a great step forward for both schools, other that the two fights, and it should be a very evenly matched series all season long. Shots were more even than most of you predicted: only a 12 shot differential...but I think the chance were pretty even for both tems. UND just put one away when it counted. Was disappointed the Dogs couldn't put more pucks behind Parise with the opportunities they had, but he turned out to be a really solid prospect...not just some schmo riding his brothers coattails.

my source was the Dogs announcers. I'm sure both got their share of licks in that one. The sioux player had the obvious size advantage and ended up on top, but I'm sure the hits were nearly even.

Didn't see any post-game interviews. The Duluth announcers made it seem like it was Peluso who landed most of the punches (but, of course they would). I think the Dogs had just as many scoring chances as the Sioux, but the Sioux capitlized on them when they counted. You won round one, but there are four more meetings to go. And if tonight was any indication, they will be close, hard-fought contests that come down to the final minutes. Caig was overlooked tonight, he was in position, but the Dogs failed to get the puck to him in the key situations. Neither PP was spectacular, UND definitely moved the puck well, but Reichmuth came up big when it counted. So he got beat on some deflections. The Dogs D was to blame for the final goal, not taking the man effectively. 3-2 was the score I predicted, but the Dogs were on the worng side of it. As for the fight: without seeing it I would have to call it even. I'm sure both players received medical attention after that bout. Sounded like one for the ages. Again, it may be just the biased radio comentators, but the fight seemed much more even-handed, with Peluso connecting early and Prpich connecting late and eventually tackling Peluso. Often times the announcers make the mistake of giving the fight to the guy who comes out on top in the end. Sounded to me like the hits were fairly even with a slight advantage to the Soiux player. Of course he had a huge size advantage going in! When was the last time the helmets came off??! That's the one thing I've never understood about college hockey. What good does punching someone in the cage do? Sure it's jarring, but it does not do any physical damage. Thoght it was a very evenly matched game overall. These team matchup well, and seem to be very evenly matched. The only thing tht was decided tonight was who has the early advantage. This series will be one of the most closely contested in the WCHA this season. MARK MY WORDS!!

I'd like to see a replay of that fight!! Sounded like one of the best in recent history in college hockey!!
-
NO problem. Thought the Dogs had some chances to put the game away themselves but could not capitalize. Hats off to the Sioux and the Dogs. Great game!!
-
Audio was very shaky. Echoed the entire time. Video quality was very impressive!
-
Nevermind there wa no PP. Dogs lose 3-2. A great game all around.
-
Dogs get late PP. Still hope left!
-
Ouch!
-
Sweeeeeeet! Just wish I could have seen the whole game this way!
-
Augh! Reichmuth is not the best puckhandling goaltender I have seen. He needs to stay at home. At least he covers his mistakes most of the time.
-
Uh oh! Caig off for interference. UND PP. Does not look good for the Dogs.
-
Parise to Bochenski. Sioux score to tie it. Darn, the screwdriver was not totally effective.
-
Dogs scoooooooooooooore!!!!!!!!!! Lessard from Brosz!! 2-1 Dogs!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Too many men against UND. UMD PP coming up! The screwdriver worked...
-
I just poured a screwdriver, I think that means good luck for the Dogs!
