  1. WCHA and other games will have implications on UND's pairwise and WCHA standings

the denver vs duluth game is showing that its on NHL network tonight

umtc/uw on big 10 network tonight, not FSN

    wcha weekend match ups

    St. Cloud State at Alaska-Anchorage

    Wisconsin at Minnesota

    Colorado College at Michigan Tech

    Denver at Minnesota-Duluth

    NATIONAL SCOREBOARD

    PAIRWISE RANKINGS

posted by SIOUXWEET in pairwise thread on games we should keep an eye on this weekend

this weekend will be a very interesting weekend for us in the pwr and we don't even play. I know Jim had this in his blog but games of interest for us are:

du/umd- a denver sweep helps us in the pwr but but duluth wins will help us in the wcha race.

notre dame/ohio state- a notre dame sweep will flip our comparison with osu which we are now losing.

bc/umass-a umass win keeps this comparison in our win column, however a bc win flips it to bc

yale vs harvard/dartmouth-2 yale losses would flip this comparison

princeton vs colgate/cornell-as soon as we catch princeton in rpi in all liklihood we flip this comparison. that being said a cornell win helps us in two ways(rpi and cop).

minnesota/wisconsin-root for a split as this helps us in both the pwr and wcha race.

maine/nh-a maine sweep would probably flip the nh comparison.

Good job as always AZ...but why is tUMD orange?

  2. correction. in the pairwise rpi is the first tiebreaker. and duluth has the higher rpi and they win the comparison between the two teams. so therefore umd is number 14 and we are number 15.

OK. I was just going off of Moy's Bracketology, in which he used H2H to break ties first and then RPI.

  3. Last team in is Duluth who is tied for 14th in the PW with UND, but they have a higher RPI so Sioux are last team out.

The first tiebreaker is H2H, which UMD wins with their 1-0-1 record vs. the Sioux.

Can anyone explain why UM Duluth is where they're at in the PWR.

There are a lot of games to be played... Just did a quick "once over" of Moy's bracketology that came out today, and noticed that it is Duluth who is tied with the Sioux for 14th in the PWR. I have some comprehension of the workings of the PWR, but how can Duluth even be in the top 20? The only possible explanation that I can come up with is their one win against Mass-Lowell. As of now, the only non conference win to a TUC is Mass-Lowell. With M-L's remaining schedule they'll probably not be a TUC either. I don't even know that M-L will even have a handful of wins at the end of the year to TUC.

Having UM Duluth within 10 miles of being even being able to see the PWR top 14, just goes to show how flawed the PWR really is.

    See above... (1-0-1 vs. UND)

  4. Unless they hold the Sioux game until this one is over, but I don't think that will happen.

    They should...they do for basketball...

Not really fair to the teams that have to wait...but better for TV ratings and AD $$. Which do you think the NCAA and ESPNU care more about?

  5. Kind of my point with WI. Sub .500 team and loses the head to head with Mankato., but...

It's not that the NCAA committe uses the PWR, the PWR uses the committee's method of selecting the field to "predict" (with 100% accuracy) who will make the field.

H2H is only one of the factors the committee uses. UW had a better record against Teams Under Consideration (TUC), and common opponents, as well as a better RPI ranking.

The "human element" is non-existent now in the NCAA field selection, like it or lump it.

  6. Like heck.

How do explain Shepherd, Shepherd, and their buddy reffing the Miami vs AFA game?

Winner of which plays who ...____?

CLEARLY The Shep Crew forced the lesser team to win game 1.

    [/satire off]

    Boston College?

it is really odd how the matchups always work out that way. Also just asking here but does the selection commitee have to follow the Pairwise? I thought the only teams that got an auto bid were confrence champs. I know they usually do follow the pairwise, but do they absolutly have to?

    yes

  7. CC looked slow. Thye were playing at HOME for crying out loud and to me you could hardly tell there were Tigers fans in the stands. Poor effort by CC, three losses in a row to end the season. SCSU...while I guess I am not surprised!! LOL

U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no alibi...
