  1. I disagree to some extent. Winning is a much bigger factor. Win and they shall come. Loyalty is another large factor. I will keep my season tickets for the long term, no matter how they do on the field. I don't care how many other people show up. But there is a segment of the population that feel as you do. Many of those are bandwagon or front runner types. Some of them are just there to be seen (a complaint often heard about the Ralph). But you're right, some people will stop going if they don't think it is "the place to be".

I agree with you for the most part. Season ticket holders and the more adult crowd will keep going to the games.

From a student's viewpoint though, they do care how many people show up. When they do show up, they bring energy and excitement into the Alerus that makes it a fun place to be. But yes, a lot of them are bandwagon fans haha

  2. Your comments about the students are basically what I've said several times when this topic has come up. And almost all attendance numbers for all athletic events reflect the number of tickets sold instead of bodies in the building. Tickets sold is the important number because it reflects revenue for the program.

Yes, but unless attendance starts going back up, ticket sales will drop even more. It takes people going to the game to make others want to keep going.

But it also takes a good product on the field to keep expectations up.

  3. These are the regular season attendance averages since 2006:

    2006 9,578

    2007 10,790

    2008 10,167

    2009 8,539

    2010 8,154

I didn't miss a home game from 2006-2009 while I was a student there. At the start, the students definitely showed up and because we were so far ahead by halftime, a good number started leaving. Towards the end of 2008 and all of 2009 there were barely students showing up for the games.

Also, these numbers look a lot like they are tickets sold, and not the number of people that are at the game.

  4. Since everything today seems to be comparing the Dakota schools and conferences here are the most recent budgets on the OPE site

    UND $ 16,784,688.00 2010 data

    NDSU $ 14,261,707.00 2010 data

    SDSU $ 11,923,267.00 2010 data

    USD $ 7,159,168.00 2009 data

Why does UND and Montana have the exact same numbers of everything listed?

Edit: Weird. the page showed University of Montana, but I redid it to check. Now it's fine.

  5. I am having the dardest time pulling the trigger on a jersey that costs $250 per. I'll cave one of these days...

I also figured out there are 7 jerseys I'm missing from the entire Sioux jersey era since 1950. The three current Reebok's, 2 from the 1970s (a home and away that are identical in striping, just different colors), the jersey they wore in the last game of the old Ralph (which is based off an old Sioux jersey, but not the same), and a green Nike with Sioux spelled diagonally (which is also based off an old Sioux jersey, but is also not the same).

So, I have some work to do. One day, I'd like to get some of the really old Sioux jerseys made up with exact materials the teams used (like flannel wool jersey material and felt lettering/numbering that also are sized correctly based on that era of much less padding).

Wasn't there also a jersey with North Dakota spelled out in cursive?

  6. Yeah, I had the Style Guide from a couple years ago with all the logos and stuff but it stopped working last year I think. That one also had the Force of the North logos too I believe.

The new Style Guide is kind of a let down compared to the old one.

I'd like to have it so I can put it on desktop backgrounds for now. Just something cool to have a good quality copy of too.

  7. I looked on Google for the geometric logo, but the only thing I could find was the Sioux Logo History from OrwickSioux's site and a replica jersey.

Anyone have a high quality geometric they can either post or send to me? :)

  8. EWU going for the field goal with 9 seconds left.

    31 yard field goal

    30-27.

Fans rush the field and cause a 15 yard penalty with no time left. 1 more play for the Griz.

    Fumble. Touchdown EWU.

    36-27 Final.

  9. Terry Casey wore #12, it is retired, I am not sure why it isn't in the rafters.

According to this website, The Legend of Terry Casey

Plentywood is in Montana according to Google maps, over in the northeastern part and not far from the border with North Dakota and if the info on hockeydb.com is right...his career ended in 1967.

I grew up in Montana a couple hours north of Great Falls and went to a lot of high school sporting events in Great Falls. I want to say I remember something about the plaque hanging up next to the gym, but I'm not quite sure on that. Maybe I'm just remembering walking by it and seeing a hockey player. Next time I go back, I'll have to go check it out and try to get a picture if it's still there somewhere. Pretty cool article on Casey though.
