  1. To this point, is this the best UND defense ever, or at least the best one in the Thomas/Lennon era?  The last three regular season games will likely determine how this defense stacks up all-time, but I don't think a Sioux defense has ever played better over the first seven games of a season.  Even the 1999 and 2001 teams had games in which they gave up 28 points in a game by this point in the season.  I know the competition level is not necessarily the same now as it was then, but any way you slice it this defense has been incredible thus far.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

2nd half SCSU, Ferris and UMD is 10 straight quarters of shutout ball !! that is impressive ay any level of football !!

  2. Digger Anderson- 13 tackles and a huge sack / interception with "the return" for a TD Dan Ullsperger- game saving play with "the hit" he makes on Delta's QB that creates Brandsteds int and KO's the QB / forces fumble deep in UND territory by hustling downfield after blitzing to smack WR Tony Hermes- 6 tackles and two monster 3rd down sacks Has there ever been a better group of LB's at UND? 9 deep is crazy!!!

  3. And if you know people who are unsure if they're going , talk them into it!! Remember, the last time we played a passing team from the deep south the almost 10k screaming Sioux fans took them right out of their game. Go Sioux!!

  4. Pirate, last year as red-shirt frosh Ullsperger, Strouth and Brennan were 2's and Hoffschneider was a 1 so it does'nt seem that unusual. There always seems to be some young guys who are talented and mature enough to play well from the get go.

  5. I think on the defensive front 7, if your in the top two you play as much (or even more in some cases) as the starter. Whoever in the 2 deep is playing well plays more, regardless of whether your the 1 or 2. The guys listed as 2's on our D would make a hell of a unit at most schools!!

  6. Anyone have any updates on how spring practices are going thus far? Anyone looking really good, injuries, position changes, etc? How do the new/changed coaches seem to be working out? What 2's or 3's from last year could possibly beat out last years starters? I like to hear about actual FB and not NDS-f**king-U.

  7. Why are the players so small, even on the official roster? I know most of the LB's and Hallstenson is over 240, Ullsperger is 240, Digger is 235 and nordick is over 230!! Do we want people to think were a small team or do we just leave the guys freshman weights on the rroster till they graduate? Just curious.

  8. I'm starting to believe that all these bison fans who talk smack here are , deep down , pissed off that they have gone D1AA and ruined their pre-concieved "college football experience". Few good home games , too far to go to away games, cheesy new conference and no UND game. Its like if I was hired away by a rival firm and got a big raise but yet always wanted to "hang-out" at my old firm , telling my former co-workers how great I have it , how they suck and are now inferior to me , even though they could care less about me since I left. Fellas, your just not DII anymore !! You need to put us behind you and join your fellow Bison fans. They'll welcome you with open arms.

  9. If we got equal or greater play-off "points" for playing a d1aa team i would LOVE to see the Soiux play the likes of n. iowa, ndsu, sdsu, n. colorado, etc. every year. But every year the goals are the same, in order 1) win the ncc 2) make the play-offs 3) be nat. champs . If playing only d2 teams increases our play-off chances then that becomes the only logical path to take.

  10. 1) Bisonfan, you are an ignoramous 2) That defense will be better than anything you'll put on the field over the next 3 years 3) We will be happy to kick your d1AA asses every year that beating you does not lower our play-off seed 4) Enjoy watching the Bison play their 11 completely meaningless games next year

  11. I agree. The D is absolutley loaded with talent. 19 of the top 22 back from last year with back-ups pushing starters all over the place. Tibesar must be looking forward to running the D big-time. Not many guys leave after next season either. Anderson, Gagner, Branstad, Dahlen, will be seniors. Ullsperger, Hoffschneider and Bab-John will be juniors. That group really could be one of the best Sioux D's ever. Is it next season yet?

  12. Amen to that!!! It is so obvious that all these Bison whiners KNOW that it is going to suck so bad to start seasons with NO conference title to play for, NO rivalry games, NO play-offs, NO FUN!!! They can try to blow smoke up our ass, but we are not stupid. We know it would suck to be them and that is why they hate us.

  13. .....the list of our returning LB's may be the best group as a whole EVER!! We will have Hermes, Dahlen, Brennan, Maier and Bab-John at OLB and Anderson, Ullsperger, Nordick, Halstenson and Schmitz at ILB. Looking at those names and remembering how they played, you can mix and match those guys in a lot of combinations without any drop-off in production. 1 sr, 5 jr's and 4 soph's next season. Wow.

  14. All of the non-football factors favor us. 1) UNA has to do the traveling 2) It's going to be sub-freezing all the time their here 3) No UNA players have played in a domed stadium or 4) on artifical turf !!! Therefore my prediction is Fighting Sioux 24 - Lions 16. Now, based on that, IF UNA wins the game they would clearly have to be the superior team and deserving to play for the Nat. Championship. No member of the Sioux family (coaches, players, fans) would feel that we got "upset by a lesser team". Lets all hope it's clean, hard hitting, well played game and that both teams players walk off the field injury free afterwards. Thats all I have except to say......................GO SIOUX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
