  1. Pelnik is a big defensemen. May 1995 birthday and already listed at 6'4".

Had visits to Boston College, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Vermont, before picking UND.

Looks to be a very big pickup for the Sioux

Definately another major pick up for the coaches. Interested to see if Brad gets a chance to talk to him because rumors are he would be a very high pick in the OHL draft. The recruits the coaches are getting as of late conitnues to impress.

  2. Per Heisenberg

Welcome aboard JT Miller and Stephan Matteau!!

Hak & Co. are on fire lately. I can't believe the high end talent UND is starting to build up in their recruits, I'm obviously bias but I gotta believe the program's reputation in the NHL has got to be helping in landing some of these guys. And by the way, if Miller comes in with his buddy Rocco next year Danny Mattson might have to call Mike Fink for advice. Danny is off to a good start this year in Chicago, but it is hard to beilieve he won't be forced to look at the numbers.

  3. oh according to "QuickFacts" twitter msg I was sent, we should not expect Rocco OR Mark McMillan to come to campus.

    :)

Rocco had been recruited heavily by every powerhouse college in country and also was/is steadily pursued by "W". He spent the last 7 months deciding between UND, notre dame, and DU after he made it public that he was deciding between those 3 universities. Mark McMillan had a big rookie year in the BCHL and after colleges came calling was torn between joining his brother at Northeastern or going to North Dakota. Obviously he chose the Sioux, and I'm not sure if he has really been pursued that heavily by the "W" or not. Both of these guys took their time and turned to their families and adivors for help and chose what they felt was the best college for them. We all know some players opt out for major junior after committments are made and sometimes even after they have already played some games in college. But after reading what various recruiting websites wrote about each of these guys during their recruitment process and reading the various stories that Brad has provided on them it seems very unlikely they're using there committment to UND as a tool to get a good deal in the "W". To put it another way, let 1:01-1:08 of this video get my point across: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJl6jIKeE2c

  4. Your question has been answered.....welcome aboard Grimaldi :)

Unbelievable pick up by the UND staff. Just a major, major recruiting victory. From everything I read I thought he was going to be an Irish. Great job coaches.

  5. I am pretty sure that the ship had sailed by now on getting Ebert to come here, but seeing that he went 17th in the OHL draft it would seem that he won't be playing college hockey. Has anyone heard anything regarding him and any chance of playing college hockey lately?

Hopes are definately fading, especially reading that he has the same advisor as John Moore: http://news.therecord.com/Sports/article/704772

This article was before the draft and is in the view of the Kitchener Rangers who missed Ebert by one pick.

  6. Brad is reporting that Kamloops in the WHL will try to get Fienhage to defect. It wouldn't be a really bad choice, but an unfortunate shake-out...especially when you consider that it's a Major Junior league he'd be going to.

Everyone knew something had to give sooner or later on the Defensive corps and this seems the most logical. He would definately be hard pressed to get much ice time next year.

  7. Kind of suprised with Yale's speed that Toews isn't playing for Bruno?

Bruno must definately being some things that have impressed the coaches. That seems like the last spot filled in the roster. I think Cichy and Toews may have more offensive upside, but Bruno may fill that 4th line role a little better in forechecking and physical play. I'm not really sure, but I would have never guessed he'd be over those two at this point in the year.

  8. I was sitting in the arena last night and I have to admit it was one of the dullest sioux/gopher games I have ever been to. The crowd only got going with sioux goals, and the game just didn't have the action you would expect. I am still convinced if the sioux get up early they can put the gophers away like they did friday. But if the gophers get the first goal again it will continue to build their confidence, and it's my opinion it will once again be a tight game down to the end. Minnesota seems to very bipolar right now obviously, and the sioux need to dash their hopes early. GO SIOUX.

  9. I saw Omdahl was hurt in the 2nd and that really hurt Roseau, but I think Edina had too much speed for them. I don't know if Knochenmus or Omdahl have the size to play right away, I think both will have to play juniors to prove their selves a little more, but I think they will catch on somewhere.

Anyone know anything about A.J. Michaelson (soph) and Hudson Fasching (fresh) from Apple Valley both have good size and have looked pretty good against Blaine.

Chris Dilks did a ranking of each class today for MN hockey. He does follow MN hockey pretty closely:

  10. I know there has been a lot of speculation on this board that Kyle Rau will not go to a college without his brother. Well they may not be unique in their aspirations because here is an example of another brother combo with one being a very elite talent and another being considered below that level committing together: http://letsgodu.blogspot.com/2010/03/dakot...mits-to-du.html

On a side note it would be a gigantic victory against the OHL if Dakota actually shows up on campus. He is a very big prospect and adds even more flare to Gwoz's already impressive recruit list. Maybe he did it to ensure his brother an education and than bolt to the OHL? Who knows, but I thought it was interesting since it proves brothers can play these games with colleges and succeed.

  11. This is gonna be tough series no doubt, it's the playoffs but pride is on the line as well. I can't believe it shook up this way, has to be huge motivation for each team to keep the other out of saint paul. I really think it could end up going 3 games, but if the sioux play like they have the last few weeks it should go their way.
