There is 3 inches of tuuk on the bottom of the boot that is white. It does create an illusion.

Excellent post.  My whole point is that there is no way you can rule that conclusive evidence showed the play offsides based on the angle that was used.  The only person viewing the play from the correct position was the linesman who ruled a legal entry.  At a minimum, they should look at this rule or install a camera along with blue line.

Just so I'm sure I know the rules correctly, puck on the blue line is considered in the zone, and skate on the blue line is considered out, right?

Based on this I believe the puck has to be across the edge of the line closest to the goal.  Still doesn't change my opinion of the call.

The blue line is always considered to be part of the zone in which the puck is in. Therefore, when the puck is entering the attacking zone, the “determining edge” of the blue line shall be the edge closest to the attacking goal. Therefore, the determination as to whether an “off-sides” has occurred will only take place at the moment the puck has completely crossed the determining edge into the attacking zone. A player only needs to have skate contact with one skate with the blue line to be considered "on-side."

Yep, that's the view I kept seeing and thinking "how the F is that indisputable evidence of offsides?"  Unless you can see white between Hoff's skates and the blue line before the puck enters the zone there is no way, IMO, that you overturn the call on the ice made by the guy staring down the line.  The angle, the view, the netting obstructing the view all make it impossible to determine if, in fact, Hoff was offsides.  Disappointing that a game that hard fought was effected by the call.  Props to Berry for towing the NCAA line that the call was right but I just don't see it.

  4. Crushed after the loss last night but extremely proud about how the Sioux played.  The semi final tonight is between two teams damn lucky to be there.  Ohio State completely dominated UMD in the overtime.

In seeing the picture they put up on the TV claiming that Hoff was offsides I just don't see it, not from that angle.  If that is clearly indisputable evidence then the standard is pretty low.  Worst part about the call is that the "offsides" had absolutely no impact on the goal.  At some point to have to rely on the official on the ice for a call like that.  He clearly waived it off and was sitting right on the line.

Thanks to the Seniors for your dedication and hanging another banner.  I'm sure we will lose a few early but I'm excited about the group coming back.  I really love Coach Berry, Jackson, and Shaw and the attitude they bring.  Nothing better than being a fan of North Dakota Hockey.   Let's get back to work.  October is just around the corner.

I am literally being dragged to Bed, Bath, and Beyond this morning to do my wedding registry. I hope that is enough incentive for everyone on this message board to have a beer for me as soon as they read this. Negativity aside, I woke up with a good feeling...and it wasn't that I was going to find the perfect his and her bath towels. LET'S GO!!!! 3-2 Sioux

  6. Was at the game last night.  Another fantastic Sioux fan turnout.  The Let's Go Sioux chant drowned out Denver's starting lineup intro.  The PA announcer sounded like he was mocking us every time he said "Fighting Hawks."  Great last 5 minutes.  If everyone can give 75% the effort that #2 brings on every shift this team will be lifting some hardware in April.  That kid is a stud and his motor is always running.  We obviously had a tough time containing DU's top line.  I think that gets corrected and we bounce back tonight.  I like this team but then again, I like our team every year.  GO SIOUX!!!!!

  7. A couple of things I noted last night. The Sioux came out fast and sharp. Their passes for the most part were stick to stick. They aggressively brought the puck out of our zone and certainly played with BU the whole game except for the second have of first, the second and the parts of third when we dominated the play. Our kids busted the asses all night. Even after the fans quit, the team didn't. That is one of the key things in evaluating a coach. These kids never quit. When Zane wasn't having his best game, no one on the team did anything but play harder. The penalty on Poolman where he barely hit the BU guy was bogus. It led to a power play goal. These kids were well prepared. Dumped the puck when they needed to, tried to bring I across blue line when they could. I realize some of you experts who played 4th line on your Bantam B team when you were 10th graders think a coaching change should be made but if so, it isn't cuz we were out coached or not ready.

A number of you geniuses whine when anyone sticks up for this coach or staff. The only reply is that anyone who disagrees with you or dares criticize is a Hak lover or doesn't want a "natty". One of you even suggested he isn't flexible or he is too business like or he should tell the guys to just have fun. You know what goes on cuz your friend had a beer with someone who knows .

"I want to win one". This " fan base settles" for less than a title cuz they won't fire the coach. "I will never accept it". One insinuates Hak needs more time to figure it out.

Listen Sparkies, none of you geniuses have ever once explained how your esteemed opinions of a subject you have demonstrated you know little about cuz you have never been in the locker room means more than the opinions of all the players present and former who have played for Hak, and Dean, guys in the NHL and minors, guys coaching in college and the pros. Every single one of those guys to a person understand what it takes to get to the college level and play for championships and they have nothing but respect for Hakstol. They think you guys are douchebags. I believe if I read correctly one of you were smart enough to inadvertently admit it in a previous post.

I doubt that other than your game for 4th place in your PeeWee B tourney that you have had to buckle up and lay it on the line. If you did you might have some insight on the leadership and coaching talent it took to keep this team from giving up when we were down 4-1. Our self proclaimed best fans in the world quit on this team but the coaches and players didn't quit. That's what you look for in a coach. He and is staff recruit the mentor, they teach and they win. The National Title will come. I've been watching them for 45 years. Wg have the staff in place to get this done.

This isn't about you and your life should be no different today than yesterday. It would have been great to see the guys and their coaches rewarded for their hard work and effort. What we get is to say we support the team that played and they are the ones who won or lost. You guys didn't lose squat and you wouldn't have won squat. The coaches and players win and lose.

Lastly I'll comment about a couple of fans. One couple with their baby girl drove to MSP to fly out of their when the flights out of Fargo were delayed and canceled. Another chartered a private jet and then let other Sioux fans ride along in the other seats. They would not take any money to help pay. Another despite a traumatic brain injury that kept him hospitalized for months flew in by himself cuz he couldn't make last years when he lay comatose for 11 days fighting for his life. These folks and the majority are Sioux fans who appreciated the effort and excellent play and coaching of this team. We expect to win National titles. If the team and coaches stop putting forth their best effort and can't be competitive then the former coaches, former players and fans who have an understanding of the pride and effort these kids and staff have put forth on behalf or all of us fans, our University, the state of North Dakota will affect the necessary changes. You geniuses that have never had to "knock on wood", or face a bullet or make a save or shot in front of 20,000 people can then take credit and say you knew it all along. You don't need to be a Hak lover to see, this was a well coached team and they had a great year. We has fans had the opportunity to come along for the ride. Go Sioux.

    Great post.
  8. Thanks guys for leaving everything you had on the ice. I Am truly inspired by the heart and pride you played with all season. You could have just given up tonight and you didn't. Steph's interview following the 2nd period showed the heart and this carried over to the team. Thank you!

Agree 100%.  One of my favorite classes in a long, long time.  Loved OD's line in the last Through These Doors when asked how he wanted to be remembered and he answered "as men".   Best of luck if whatever you choose to do men, it was so fun to watch you all compete these last 4 years.

  9. Love this team.  These guys just kept battling.  Being in the mix every year is a testament to the coaches and the players.  To Gordy, the General, OD, Mattson, Mac, Parksy, Panz, thanks for laying it all out and giving us 4 great years.

I feel bad for the players and the coaches.  No one wanted to win more than them.  Absolutely hilarious to hear some "fans" on this board bitch and moan how tough it is on them after a game like this.  We get to watch one of the best programs in the country compete on a top level year after year after year.  Seriously, bitching about players, calling on Hak to get fired, saying the game is over long before it is.   Some of the posts are truly idiotic.

Can't wait until next season.  Thanks again for another great year of Sioux Hockey.  GO SIOUX!!

  10. Good luck Rocco. Loved your hustle and passion and the speed and skill you brought to the lineup. You had the opportunity to become a Sioux legend if you choose to stay. Hope the chance to travel the AHL for a year or two is worth it.

Even with the loss I am excited as hell for next season. Great group of guys and leaders coming back and an exciting crop of new talent coming in. Long live college hockey and long live the Fighting Sioux!!!!!

  11. Somebody remind me how to hide a poster/poser. Thought I was doing so with gf-one-trick-poney but ended up giving him/her/it a reputation, whatever that means. Much appreciated. GO SIOUX!!!!!
