I like this perspective. I have had some conversations with the family over the years. So when something like this happens, of course I'm going to get nosy. From what I understand, the kid loved his Coach Pawlek. When the coach left, Borud was a for sure leave. Hagen wanted to try stick it out. Local kid, big family close etc. But the new hire was admittedly a 'quick hire'. Hagen thought his development was being slowed down during spring ball. The interview with Dom said he had the what-if conversation with his parents. Maybe he jumped ship too early and didn't give the new coach the old college try. But, he's 20. He probably has big dreams. Did he think he was better than FCS? IDK. Does he sacrifice his development to become a legend?

But, looking at the big picture. He was recruited during Covid with no other offers. Farm family kid going to a non-ag business school. At the end of his football career, he will go back to the farm. SDSU will give him the agriculture education he will use for life on the farm. As far as money, a full ride was offered. Nothing else more...other than some perks like a free meal from local restaurants.  I know it looks bad for UND, but I don't really blame the kid.

Thanks for your insight!! There is more to life than football!

It will be tough. Coach Mo was the one who tried to hold players accountable, regardless of how well they could score or how many ESPN stars they had as a recruit. Seems like he was asked to come back and then discarded. Pretty sh!tty really.

If I recall he came back because his family was still in Grand Forks. Whole situation is strange.  I can see him feeling undermined.

I really like this hire! I am hopeful that him and Coach Motherwell (former Associate Head Coach) can work well together. That could be an interesting dynamic.

I kind of figured that this was going to happen.  I am really looking forward to seeing what Coach Hutter brings to the program!!

  4. The NCAA is totally behind the 8 ball now days. I don’t like the current scenario. I’ve always supported the Grad Transfer. If you have earned your degree, you deserve to move on to greener pastures. The situation like the safety from Louisville that portals in and then enters again without playing a season is where I draw the line. The flip side is we don’t know if the coaches are telling players to move on.

  5. This is crazy and very sad if even remotely true!!

Doctors provided a letter to law enforcement that stated, "There is no doubt in my mind that if she were to return to his care she likely would not survive another abuse. Her medical conditions put her at even a greater increased risk of death. It is imperative that she get provided the protection she needs so she can get the appropriate medical care she needs."

Is Jeremiah Sem from North still on the table ? Watching this class AA tournament and he is athletic.  Right now taking it to minot who only lost one game this year

    Lots of baggage there!

Do you think she is doing a good job?

I think this is year 3/4 and a critical point. Seems to be some young talent and decent recruits. Tough world with the transfer portal now. I’m not ready to say she’s doing a great job but the next few years will be telling.

Wait wait wait a second....Abrahamson isn't even a top 3 finalist for Sr. Athlete of the year? That has to be a joke right?

It's not a joke! I find it hard to believe that leading the state in scoring two years running doesn't make you worthy of Sr. Athlete of the year.

Why wouldn’t they go to GF instead? 90 mile round trip compared to 110 mile round trip plus you stay in ND. Or is a numbers thing for Crookston?

If I had to guess, GF doesn’t want other girls if they have enough of their own or have to make cuts.  Same reason Siri Olson is in DL, I believe they approached GF first.
