  1. where'd you find this out?

PS: Can anybody tell me anythign about rumors that Ralf had a trust in his will that if the nickname changed that he wanted the building demolished? It seems to horrible to be true but i've heard it from multiple sources.

  2. Obviously the Fighting Sioux will be in the playoffs this year (looking to finish the season with only one loss) However, I dont' see them climbing any higher than 2nd in the Midwest because UNO is going to go undefeated.

They will finish with one loss and probably 3rd in the region.

Will UND get a home playoff game? Possibly just a first round home game? Or will they not get one at all because of the new settlement on the nicknamme/logo.

    Anybody know?

  3. You hit the nail right on the head. This whole thing will come down to getting paid. If you want this, then I need this much $$.

I can tell you now, there will never be enough.

True that. We don't have the money that FSU does/did to just make this go away.

  4. Why not just go with the "Dakota" or with "Dakotans"? The first simply refers to the last part of our state's name. The second simply refers to the state's inhabitants. This could be a take from the MIAC where the team names are the St. John's "Johnnies" the St. Olaf "Oles" etc.

IMO those are all kind of lame. I think if we can't just be the University of North Dakota then we should be the roughriders or the cavalry. It will be strange for a while but i feel like in 20,30, 40 years people will have gotten over the Sioux name and a new legacy will be in full force.

Roughriders/cavalry (preferably roughriders) has good ND roots (the roughrider state), plus it is something original that will be able to catch on.

I really hope they don't go with something weak like the dakotans or the blizzard or something like that.

    Thats just my opinion though.

  5. Who do you guys all like to win the job? Internal prez, external prez? I'm just wondering.

I like Elbert and Smith myself based mostly on their previous success fundraising and their commitment to the nickname/logo fiasco. They both also have verbalized a commitment to turn around the declining enrollment at UND and to make sure the move to D1 goes smoothly.

  6. I totally agree with that. Plus, the Alerus center doesn't have a large enough capacity. We want to look towards the future, and hopefully be wehre NDSU is in 4 years. This would mean selling out about 19,000 every game. The Alerus center only holds 13,500 for football and to be honest it's a bit of a tin can.

Do we have the money to have our own footballstadium?

Is there enough room/resources to renovate Memorial stadium into a large capacity stadium probably indoors?

    I need info!

    Anybody know of anything?

  7. Much like the Mankato game this game has me worried. The UMD QB is a pretty good athlete, and although UND got to him last year and has had success against him he'll be playing on his home field and we all know how that went for UND's defense against Western Washington and Mankato.

The key to this one is ball control. Long sustained drives with Chappel and company taking a lot of time off the clock would be my idea of how to win this game, but then again with guys like Dressler and Chappel UND can score from anyspot on the field...at any time... :)

    I'll say UND 42 UMD 38

    High scoring affair.

Will it be on TV in GF?

  8. Last night on the Fighting Sioux Coaches show, Lennon talked about the new turf which was placed at Memorial Stadium. He also talked about upgrades to the Memorial stadium complex...specifically crowning the natural grass field and the addition of an inside practice facility.

So what do you think? Renovation of memorial stadium. Possibly making it indoors or what? Maybe connect it to the parking tamp (reason for bridge to nowhere) and add TONS of seating or what?

  9. Anybody have any new news on OUR facilities plan (mostly football?). I'm curious about what going on at UND right now, not SDSU!

Maybe an Alerus Centre upgrade or a memorial Stadium renovation?

I do truly feel like we need to get closer to a seating capacity of 18-19 000 like the Fargodome to help our program grow.
