  1. Unfortunately most of the rumors I have been hearing is that Murray won't be eligible for the fall. Whether this is the case or not, I really thought this would be a year to bring in 1 or 2 transfers this summer to help with a pretty green reciever and runningback corp. Any word on whether there has been any pursuit of another playmaker.

  2. Just booked my ticket out of Minneapolis to Lubbock for $281 with a stop in Memphis. Much more reasonable than I was expecting to get to West Texas. Book early and save, it should be a great time. I am already looking forward to it and have talked to a number of others who are considering going. These old legs will be the first to charge the field when we shock the Big 12.

  3. He seems to be the type of local area kid that you would be happy to have and contribute to either football or basketball. I would imagine he might have been waiting until basketball season was over to make a school decision. Hopefully, the coaches have maintained contact through the winter.

  4. UND's fall in MBB coincided almost directly with when the athletic department started treating them like red-headed stepchildren. If we start funding this sport properly with adequate resources, marketing, etc. the fans would return and the program could be a mid-major power.

Agreed to an extent. Basketball is a sport where fortunes can change quickly. Just think early 2000s when we had one of the most talented players in the country in Jerome Beasley. Fun to watch. Get lucky and pick up a few players that really pan out and play well together and then make it to the NCAA tournament. Support would grow real quick from that. UNI (and most other teams in that conference) has done it with probably fewer resources than we have.

  5. While I would like to see the next 2 games end up in the win column, I have not been disappointed by the FCS games that we have had to date. I have been traveling with the team and have been at every away game. While I feel we could have won a couple of those games, we demonstrated one very important thing...... we are at least at a competitive level. We don't have that far to go. Each game that we have lost has come down to 2-3 mistakes that if they would have went the other way, the outcome may have been different. Sometimes the score does not reveal have close a game really was. We actually had a good game against Southern Illinios except for the interception Danny threw, the missed holding call ( completely obvious to everyone in the stands including the SI fans sitting next to me) against SI that allowed the little speedster to get a 75 yard TD. While I am not saying we should have beat them, the fact is we are in a state of transition and we are only going to get better each year.

I think it is important that we grow competitively and incremently each year. We could learn from the Bison fiasco whereby they had such success the last couple of years that the fan base developed unrealistic expectations and now wonder what is going on. The fact is that there is a lot of parity to this division which, of course, makes it that much more exciting. On any given Saturday, any solid team can beat another solid team. Let's give the team time to grow but in the meantime. let's throw our unconditional support to them. Let's go Sioux !!!!

Well said. This team is close and I really think things will only get better.

  6. This is without much research but I am not so sure that Iona is non scholly and have sort of a pseudo conference similar to us out east. Either way it would be a good game to have at home because not every opponent will be texas tech or even be willing to come to our place.

  7. Why such pessimism? UND can play better on defense but Western Wash was pretty good on offense. Do remember that they beat UC davis last year in one of their only wins of the season. UC has played some teams tough this year but haven't exactly been tearing it up. I expect a pretty even, hard fought game which I do for the rest of the way this year.

  8. Really the most important is that Otto be healthy after the 2 week layoff. He was really coming into his own this season until he was banged up and I think would have made a significant difference in the last game.

  9. Actually their offense seems to be very good. I was able to catch some of their game against Eastern Washington online and they really moved the ball and scored almost at will. Their defense may be another story. This could be a similar game to last year which set an NCC scoring record but with a healthy defense and a team hungry for a game we should be able to pull away at some point.

  10. While I think Murray is really a special player, I think its also worth mentioning that Brandon Brady started to make some plays in that game that he is capable of and maybe hasn't made in the past. It will be important for him to maintain a high level of contribution in a long season when we look to the running game to win ball games (and for when Murray busts 40+ yard runs and could use a breather)

  11. There is always attrition on any college football teams. UND in fact has a retention rate of its players to be proud of. Testament to that is the 19 seniors this year. Look at nearly any other program in the country and they would not match the amount of players that are sticking with the program for 4 or 5 years. IMO, by having double digit numbers of seniors has been perhaps the most important key to UND's football success. It is tough to accept losing when you commit 4 years of your life to a common goal with other likeminded individuals
