  1. Maybe the down by no contact rule in college football should change to reflect the NFL.

that still wouldn't have applied there as the holder or kicker (too lazy to look at again) was hanging over him as well in the scrum...

  2. We all love replay.

But things have definitely changed in athletics. Refs are now sometimes not ruling things on the field as they think they might be. They are letting things happen, say a fumble, and allowing the play to develop, to then see the replay, because otherwise it would be ruled dead and the replay wouldn't matter.

Replay has changed how refs ref.

i agree with cratter... And was shocked they over turned the play last week, as a number earlier in the year could have been overturned but they seem extremely reluctant to "get it right", regardless of the team. Let's face it it's tough to admit a wrong call and replay has changed the officiating. Maybe it will take some time to figure how to work with it better.

  3. WOW!  Saw that one live.... crazy.  Shouldn't the UM defender have been ruled down by the way?  He recovered the ball when he was on the ground, before tossing it up into the air, which allowed a Griz player to catch the ball and return it?

See above post... Sorry don't know how to quote

  4. Absolutely, terrible call. If you are rolling on the ground with the football and can flip it up to someone.... You are down in college football. I really think replay may almost be worse for officiating this year as they let the play play out then have an extremely hard time overruling themselves. That said I foresaw something bad happening for the bung gulls after they thought they had it in the bag after the Montana fumble. +1 on being nice to watch other teams on big sky TV.

  5. Sorry, but I don't think Mollberg has proven he can play at this level and I am not afraid to come out and say so. I am mocking the people that are so fixated on having Studsrud replaced when we are freaking 4-1 and are close to being nationally ranked for the first time in a long time. I have faith in this coaching staff and if they think a change needs to be made at QB, they will make it.

By the way, you are hardly an impartial voice on this topic, since you vociferously back any and every player that has ever come out of Detroit Lakes. Back in 2004, you and a couple of others on here (don't remember who they were) complained non-stop about how bad Chris Bellmore was at QB and that Reed Manke should have the job handed to him because he's a "born winner" and whatever else you guys said. Once he got in there, he was a good QB, but not the world-beater you guys were claiming.

Unlike the previous staff, I trust Bubba and company to make good decisions regarding this program. With the progress we have made the last two years, I don't see why they shouldn't be trusted.

Actually he was a bit of a world beater in that he took his team to UNI ranked #3 at the time and won. His injury derailed that season from a deep play off run.

I am for whatever QB helps us win through out this year. We have to realize we aren't going to have any sexy 30 point wins, but are going to have to grind out the rest of our schedule.

Ira brings unique perspective in that he may know the players a bit more but I didn't read that he was favoring anyone over the other just what each could bring to the table.

  6. Easy everyone here, this will not likely be a blow out for the fact that they are an experienced team (read disciplined or few mistakes). Reading the summary on their last game it sounded as if they made some uncharacteristic mistakes. I will be satisfied with win #2 and a continuation of our mistake free football and better special teams with no defensive breakdowns. That should lead to a W.

  7. so now we know the real reason Taylor and Bohl would not schedule UND after both teams moved to D-I. :)

My thoughts exactly. In my day, you had to actually beat your in state rival otherwise you were just a paper champ, nothing more.

  8. Great job at winning another game we weren't favored to win which has been every game but Robert Morris this year. This is a big change from the previous regime as I cannot think of one game we won which we weren't supposed to and lost to many worse teams. Great job coaching staff and congratulations team. Beat UNC.

  9. Way to go UND!! Just got back from GF from the game and was very pleased with the outcome: A WIN. Remember we were 12 point underdogs and I give the coaches a ton of credit with getting that done. It was awesome to see this defense come around and gain an extreme amount of confidence as the game progressed. A lot of guys played and so were fresh through out (circa 1990's- early 2000s) and I truly believe we could have given them 10 more possessions and they wouldn't have scored. Defense is the core of winning games and I like the direction we are headed. The offense game plan did what we needed it to do and that was run the clock. So yes it was bland and statisticless but to me (and apparently OC Rudolph) the win is what matters. It wasn't pretty to all the Madden players out there but I think it was a heady move by Bubba and the O staff giving us the best possibility to win. I'll be back to watch this team again, especially to watch an inspired defense.

Again congrats on the quality win to the players and coaches.
