DaveK, if I understand correclty, based-off of numerous posts that you have made over the last several weeks:
(1) You are against fighting in hockey as it is barbaric and brutal
(2) You are against hunting and the slaughter of innocent animals
(3) You are against having a gun as it may cause harm - see # 2 above
(4) With your way left liberal views, how do you stand on Roe vs. Wade?
Tell me how consistent you are....I already know your answer this one.
You know, I wish everyone would quit this liberal/conservative crap. How about we try to judge people on what they think, not what supposed political group you think they might be affiliated with?

For one, using one of these idiot joke lists doesn't really help anyone make an informed decision about anything. For another, my comments are below.
From Doug Leier's blogI think this sums it up well...
"Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."

FIREARMS REFRESHER COURSE
1. An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
2. A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
3. Colt: The original point and click interface.
Irrelevant
4. Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.5. If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
6. If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
7. Free men do not ask permission to bear arms.
8. If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.
9. Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
How about an attribution here? Point to the first person who knows who said it (and it wasn't some redneck)

I do not believe that guns should be banned from the campus apartments. I do, however, think that they should not be allowed in the dorms. I'm sorry if this goes against what everyone believes about the second amendment, but it's not that big a deal. All these arguments about how if every student had a gun there would be no crime don't make sense to me--as was said earlier, it just makes it easier for someone to get access to a gun if they want one.
I understand that most gun owners are responsible. I grew up around and using guns for target shooting. This isn't an attack on people who own guns, it's just a safety issue in the eyes of the school, and one I happen to agree with, but only for dorms (should guns be restricted).
Ideally, before they jump on this as hard as they can, they could start a gun registration at UND, which would require you to have proper safety equipment (locked cabinet and/or trigger lock) and see how many responsible gun owners complied.
This is not a solution to an on-campus shooting. The only solution to something such as that is increased awareness and education of what guns are for.

Posts like this often remind me of this *.gif animation:
Have a nice weekend.
That is one of the most hilarious responses I've ever seen.

Your aggressive posting style's pre-denigration of anyone who dares disagree with you notwithstanding, I'll take a stab at defending the premise of this discussion.
I'm backing an alternative -- a growing sport that I think could be revenue positive and in which UND could possibly even grow into a national niche like we enjoy with hockey. The part that seems to bother you is that few of us think it would be enough to prevent cutting some non-revenue sports.
Yesterday was interesting for me, and I knew when I started that I shouldn't have wandered into this forum.
Thanks for addressing what I said, and not the way I said it. I'm going to think about this and then get back to you (shocking, isn't it? )

No one is defensive, however, I do think your missing the point. There is this flawed logic out there that the EVIL government is reading emails and some how the are going to come knock down your door, and basically this perception that somehow the Bush Administration was the first one to do this. I am just saying its been happening for years. Clinton had a stack of FBI files on his poltical adversaries. First thing that comes to mind is:
Just because it's been done for years doesn't make it right. That is a fallacious argument.

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

Ok, Let's say the Gophers are in town and 8,000 students want to go to the game for free? What would you propose?
The Ralph (according to their website) can seat 11,640 people for a hockey game. First come, first served.

Should they let all of the students who want in for free?
It's our hockey team, isn't it?

Let's start telling the REA that they can't charge more than 5 dollars a ticket.
It's still BS that REA charges students anything more than $0 for a ticket.

I wanted to let everyone know that the UND and NDSU online student forums (Dakota Roar and ndbison.com, respectively) have merged to form Campus Dakota, which is geared toward university students in North Dakota.
We're interested in bringing together uni students to deal with issues on each campus individually, and with anything that comes up on a statewide level, somehing that's never been done before. So if you go to UND, NDSU, or any other North Dakota college or university, come sign up!

For once I agree with what you are saying. I've been saying for a year and a half now (hey, I've only been here a year and a half) that UND needs to decide what their relationship to the city is. If they want to separate themselves, they need to provide opportunities to students on campus. If they want to integrate with Grand Forks, they need to allow businesses near campus. The current situation is dangerous to everyone on the streets and for those who don't have a DD to get them home after the bars. Having a "dry campus" is an idiotic choice.
Just as an aside, the term "dinkytown" has to be one of ths stupidest things I've ever heard. Why do we feel the need to copy Minnesota in everything?
