You people are pricelessly ignorant. OMG. You win a game in which you got grossly outplayed and you complain that the team who was skating circles around your players was holding and hooking? Too !@#$% funny. YOUR team was hooking and holding!!! They did EVERYTHING they could to slow down the Seawolves! Talk about crappy winners. OMG the depth of the complete and utter rubeness is nearly unending in North Dakato. None of you actually deserve to have a team to cheer for. Gopher fans > Sioux fans by a HUGE margin. Goon: Boring? You my friend should stick to looking down the barrel of your various guns for sporting enjoyment. Because you know NOTHING about hockey. Absolutely NOTHING. Trapfest on Saturday? LOL. When was UAA trapping? When they had the puck deep in the UND zone ALL NIGHT? When they stole the puck off your defensemen's sticks behind the net? Do you even know what a trap is? Give it up pard ... switch you blog over to hunting and join the Remington fan forum. Your observations in both places are worthless. Dear Administator: Is there anyway you can remove my registration from this bogus site so that I can never again feel tempted to post here? Thank you in advance for any proactive measure you can take. I will try to do so as soon as I finish this last post here but in case I can't please ban me or whatever so I can't type here again. Because if I'm able to none of your members will probably be happy with what I have to say. Thanks again.

This response isn't directed specifically at you. I quote you but it is the latest entry referencing the situation. What you say is true .... except in the case of UAA. UAA contributes positive revenue to each and every opponent that comes to play in their barn. The NCAA grants "exemptions" to the schedule of each opponent that schedules a team from Alaska or Hawaii in those locations. This exemption allows the opponent to schedule an additional home game for each exemption they earn. That additional home game varies in worth. How much does UND get for putting an additonal 10K people from a home game? $50K? More? Also in UAA's case; for the first 10 years of membership in the league UAA paid the overwhelming majority of the travel costs for each opponent to come to Anchorage. Those cost savings were worth on average to about $18-20K each year for each WCHA school. After 10 years those costs were gradually phased out and I don't believe UAA subsidizes anyones travel any longer. So with a minimal amount of calculation one can see that UAA's inclusion in the WCHA has been responsible (at a minimum) for well over $1,000,000 in positive revenue to the WCHA community. Replace UAA with Bemidji? Ain't gonna happen ... dream on ... forgetaboutit ... WCHA schools ought to be kissing UAA's arse. And oh yeah Sioux fans ... good luck with the whole "sweep" prediction thing. There'll be a pretty determined hockey team facing yours on the ice in about an hour.

I agree ... I don't think "a lot of people" think it .... but it pops up every year. I don't think I meant to indict more than just the one idiot who made the ridiculous comment on my blog but also that I saw it as an opportunity to educate any other ignorant folks within Sioux-fandom as to the reality.
-
A surprisingly ignorant (well ... perhaps not soooo surprising) comment on my blog has brought me here to ask that a knowledgeable Sioux fan (perhaps Patrick Miller) explain to the Sioux fanbase the exact reasons why UAA will never be replaced by Bemidji (i.e... How UAA's participation in the WCHA creates TENS OF THOUSANDS of Dollars in revenue that those member schools would otherwise not see and in addition how historically UAA saved those member schools money) I'm hoping that hearing the FACTS from a Sioux fan will lead to an acceptance of reality that my explanation likely wouldn't. PCM? Please? Or perhaps someone else here in touch with reality (sprig; jimdahl)? I bet even Diggler could recite the reality?

... if by awesome you mean petulant whiny little bandwagon-jumping insipid biatch then ... yeah he's awsome.

I didn't read the article but I'd assume that it points out that the Susies have some fairly balanced scoring (obvious by looking at a stat sheet)? How the "#1 Rube in Minneapolis" couldn't figure that out shouldn't be a mystery to anyone that actually knows something about the game. That dolt is an embarrassment. The fact that ANYONE likes or (god forbid) respects ANYTHING he says is a source of constant joy for me. But that said ... referencing ANYTHING he has said is kinda scraping the bottom of the barrel in search of negativity about all-things-Goofer isn't it Brian? Shame on you for even mentioning his name in relation to hockey talk! ;-)

I'm hoping there is some way to pick up the Sioux TV broadcast off a satellite. I recall from last year that someone here seemed to have all that info available. UAA's local provider here has done a good job of making arrangements with whatever opponents TV people when UAA has been on the road but for some reason we aren't getting the game this weekend. I'm hoping I can get some friendly sports bar to tune it in if it is available at all. Anyone know the Satellite and Transponder numbers?

Is their "Dullard Contingent" larger or smaller than here?
-
How exactly does my status as a UAA fan have anything to do with my posted judgements/comments regarding the events? Are you so incapable of discussing the issues raised that you resort to this sort of mindlessly ignorant "jibes" (even though "jibe" is a generous word in this context) when you don't have anything useful to add? Or was the desire for inclusion in the Dullard Contingent just too much of a good thing for you to pass up?
-
Sprig: Hard to believe you're serious. Naturally, posting here I expect the dullard contingent to come out in force with their brilliantly witty comebacks (by "brilliantly witty" I mean 2nd grade-ish) but the fact is that Kaip paused about 5 ft away from the opposite side of the net; then he saw two bucky players challenging one sioux player for the puck. He picked up his pace and easilty 15 ft before he hit Smith, he could see that he was bent over. If anything, at that point Kaip increased the intensity of his strides to make a bigger hit. Yeah ... fine ... you're supposed to hit hard in hockey. No doubt. But charging is as equally dangerous as checking from behind. It was nothing other than minor circumstance that kept Smith's head from drilling into the ice (which could certainly have caused a neck injury). For you to minimize this the way you've done makes you a far bigger homer than I would have previously imagined. That's all ... I'm just surprised. The rest of my comments aren't directed at you ... So to address one other point (amongst the other mostly ridiculous replies) ... The fact that the ref didn't call a 5 min penalty is meaningless. When do the refs get it right? Did they get it right on the Pauko hit? No. Did they get it right on this hit? No. Kaip is an enforcer. Nothing more. In a game where fighting is outlawed he is irrelevant except to a coach (and a fanbase) with a serious inferiority complex. I know you guys think you have an NHL team there in GF but ... psst ... you don't. I find it ironic that I'm hoping Dirty will show some of this fanbase some maturity.
-
Maybe the (J)(G)enoway's should decide how they want to have their name pronounced. One kid it's a G and the other it's a J? Kaip should lose his captaincy for that stupid hit. It had the potential to be another Paukovich/Bina incident. If Hakstol doesn't discipline him then he's a woman.
-
Isn't this all just part of the Gopher Conspiracy? Lose two games badly to the Sioux knowing that will trigger their players to go out and party. Lucia, Sonmor and Nanne are geniuses. Hakstol's not stupid though. I hear he's already suspended them from playing hockey for the next 10 days. I wonder where he learned how to handle things "internally"? When Guentzel gets the head coaching job at Mankato I'd put even money on Haks going to the "U". LOL. I think I'm so funny that I'll have to cross post this over at GPL. LOL.
-
"favorite" not "favourite"? "defenceman" not "defenseman"? Apparently you've only half-morphed into a canucker.
-
This game was supposed to be on TV up here in Anchorage too and isn't ... so whoever else it was earlier mentioning black screens ... I feel your pain.
-
Read the thread. There is ZERO doubt that I provided more analysis in one post than was cummulatively posted by Sioux fans. Go back from the beginning and an objective "analysis" of that material will show you where you're wrong. I'm quite confident in that. And the little spate of insults was asked for ... but I think AZSIOUX enjoyed them so that's all that counts. Geez ... I give the fanbase here my "blessing" and this is how it reacts? I wanted everyone to know that I really do think this spot you've got here is everything a fan forum could hope to be; it's ponderously banal, overflowingly ignorant and entirely predictable. An equal in everyway to USCHO. See what happens when I'm nice. I so don't get it. Sunrise Anchorage today 9:14 Grand Forks 7:37 Sunset Anchorage today 4:15 Grand Forks 4:49 Sigh. PCM: Your inabilty to begin to even come close to winning an argument with me doesn't have to embitter you into knowingly mischaracterizing me (not as to the verbose part ... you got that right). I indicated I wouldn't be back only as a courtesy to the Sioux faithful. Isn't it better to know that the "troll" isn't going to show back up? I have no reason or desire to "gloat" here. I have a space where I'll gloat and gloat to my hearts content. But go ahead and defend that 33 pages where the only substantive hockey post was written by me. After all you're "fighting the good fight" aren't you? And to most of rest of ya (exceptions know who they are already)... Your inferiority complex is showing. Otherwise I had a fun week ... bye now.
-
Dear Sioux Fans, Having posted for a long time over at USCHO and being banned for my horrendous behavior I've seen a thing or two and know a thing or two about fans in a "forum". Let me say first that I've read all 33 pages of this thread. It's nice to compare the "total boob" count from one forum to another and I'm not disappointed to report that Siouxsports.com's forum has its full and complete share. First ... attendance at UAA hockey games is not what it should be. But unlike Grand Forks ... UAA Hockey ain't the only show in town. And like any program in a competitive environment for the entertainment dollar the place won't fill up until the Seawolves start winning. Yes ... the Anchorage sports fan is pretty much fair weather. There's a core group of 3500+ fans that attend regardless of the teams record (22nd in the NCAA ... that means 37 other teams have lower attendance). Win and more show up. It's that simple. The arena looks empty on TV because HOCKEY FANS don't want to be down at ice level behind the freaking glass. Those are the seats for the knuckle-dragging droolers. There isn't a large student contingent because there isn't a large number of students living in campus dorms. UAA has traditionally been a community school and the demand for campus housing was never significant. There's lots of good stuff happening in the future with more planned dorms and a campus based arena seating around 10K. I know that sort of information takes all the fun out of the "3 fans there" and "2000" commentary. But I'm a party pooper that way. I also know it hurts for Sioux fans to watch their team lose to a crap team like UAA. It sure was a shame that the Sioux didn't get any power plays (oh wait ... sorry ... the 33 pages of whining about Shepherd brainwashed me for a second). How many goals do you guys want back from Shep? How about 2? Nah ... you'd probably want 3 by the sound of it here. Ok ... 3 it is!! I'm so big that way. Feel better losing 6-5? I sure hope so. I'm always happy when I can be of assistance to those in pain. It's my way ... I'm a giver. To those of you Sioux fans that recognize that UAA is a team that is capable of skating with and beating your #3 ranked team. I'm cool with you. And you've got my empathy for having to live weekly (many of you for probably longer than I can imagine) with what appears to be a majority of boobs. You guys hang in there. In time these sorts of bandwagon/cheerleading stupid comment-making "boobs wrapped in a rube" will be replaced by a whole new set. So there always that to hope for eh? The sad thing is that you guys and I both know that none of them are reading this. Or maybe just not this far. I won't be back tomorrow after UAA completes their first confernce sweep of the year. Sincerely, Me (post completed with 1021277 characters under maximum allowable) <---- not including that <--- or that either ...

Your insights and analysis here are impressive. 859 hockey posts and what? 3 of them useful?

I'm looking forward to seeing them play UND this weekend especially after last weekends ugly games in Mankato. There's no doubt that the Seawolves are a faster team overall this season but I'd only rate UNO and Bucky as fast teams that they've played. IMO UAA was overall faster than both of those squads. Speed wasn't a factor last weekend against Mankato so hopefully on the big sheet against UND we'll all get to see a good up and down game. Defensively, UAA has learned how to tighten up in their own end and the team has been selfless in blocking shots. The breakout and transition are greatly improved from the last couple of years. And Lawson has played well in his last four starts. The PK is good. Coach Shyiak has pretty much given the green light to all the D in carrying the puck up so expect to see rushes in particular from Chad Anderson. Big Luke will always be motivated to play against UND and will likely surprise some people with his abilities in that area as well. Nils Backstrom is a complete package but I'd say it's a package that is somewhat still "in the works". I've seen a lot more sweet open ice hits this year and Backstrom has contributed there along with Shane Lovdahl who I'd say leads in that category. UAA keys its offense partially off the hitting game and there is real good size all across that part of the roster. After a nightmarish output last year the upperclassmen (Kronschnabel, Bourne and Waldrop) have all seemed to wake up. The rest of the offensive potential comes from Jay Beagle, Paul Crowder, Josh Lunden and Kevin Clark. One player I've been noting often on my blog is Jared Tuton who has been skating on the #1 line with Beagle and Waldrop. He's a converted defenseman and along with showing decent puck skills has really being laying on big hits on the forecheck. If the games go as I'd expect then there will be portions of the game where UAA tilts the ice in their favor with the forecheck game and creates scoring chances. The PP hasn't looked great except for the first couple of weekends. I'm unsure as to why but there have been a lot of changes game to game with forwards sometimes manning the points and D men doing that job at other times. To summarize, the Seawolves will prefer to play and up and down game and try to use their size to keep it more "up" than "down". /END TROLL

You got it. I'm a pissed off gopher fan and I was really just deflecting when you so correctly guessed my emtional state earlier. If you'd signed up over at the CIA we'd have found Osama by now.

Yes. My presence here is entirely temporary.

I'm interested in exploring the option with "GOON". I thought I said that. Lemme double check. Yep. When you answered for him previously I indicated just that. I expect that at some point Goon will indicate whether he is interested or not and then he and I will have some sort of discussion as to the stakes if he is interested. Sorry if I ruined your viagra moment.

Calm down? If you went to school somewhere to learn how to discern people's emotional states across vast distances I'd recommend asking for a refund. Demanding? Lets see ... I asked How do you interpret that as any sort of "demand"? Just so you know ... when your customers at Wendy's ask for a baked potato instead of fries with their #2 they're really not actually demanding anything. End of life lesson. I've no doubt that I wouldn't be able to handle a picture of your girlfriend. In fact, I'd imagine that she is absolutely the best looking girl you could ever get.
