  1. I have to add another ringing endorsement to the many PSB has received. Pete has been helping me with my satellite for the last 4+ years and has been a great resource. I asked him for help with the recent move to the new satellite. He responded by telling me instead of coming out and then having to charge me, he would walk me through it. I am not the most technical of people but with Pete's guidance it was a breeze. I would recommend him to anyone. Thanks Pete!

  2. Didn't want to start a new thread so sorry if it bothers you - just looking for some fun between periods.

    Quick Quiz

Name the 5 top winning Colleges in NCAA Tournament History without using Google, etc..

Lets see if we have some hockey minds out there that are still sober!!

  4. Plus/minus is the worst stat in hockey today. You can have zero effect on a play and get a +, or a -. The plus/minus stat is mostly a virtue of playing time and luck. Do you think that Matt Watkins is a better forward that TJ Oshie because Watkins is a +9 and Oshie is only +1? Do you think Finley (+18) is a better defenseman than Taylor Chorney (Even)? The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Hockey isn't baseball. You can't put a stat on everything that comes up with a total output like you can with OPS in baseball.

Just because Joe Finley is leading the team in +/- does not mean hes the best hockey player on the team, in fact, I'm not even sure he should be in the lineup every night over chorney, bina, genoway, lapoint, jones and marto. (In that order) He's slow, doesn't hit very much for his size, and brings nothing offensively (which is another point why is he on the power play at times, or on the ice in the closing minutes when the team is down). I'm convinced the only reason that he plays so much is that Hak thinks that he'll have another Okposo leaving since he is allegedly a first round pick, even though he hasn't come even close to fulfilling that role.

My order is Chorney, Finley, Bina, Genoway, Jones, Lapoint, and Marto. You obviously didn't play defense. There is no stat that tells the whole story except for maybe W/L. But to say +/- is a useless stat is crazy. The biggest problem that I have noticed with the D is continuity between D pairs. It doesn't seem like the pairs are comfortable playing together. I think by March this will have worked itself out as Hak continues to experiment. Finley, in my opinion, is definitely one of our top 3 D. My most improved goes to Kaip, but he is also my favorite player.

  5. cutter, i thought you hated these message boards. :) you going to tech series?

I love reading them. I guess the offseason is getting to me when I start posting and thinking that I can contribute something positive. We have some ice tonight. If your interested call me.

  6. I don't think Grieco will get that many starts, especially early in the season. Start him out slow.

However, I think Hakstol will go to him once he and Eidsness are the two big names. They will rotate until one either pulls away (like JPar did) or just continue with the rotation.

    How do you know this?

  7. PSB here, I am a LICENSED satellite installer in the Twin Cities area and I have installed quite a few systems for fans (And players) Overall I am a Sioux fan. I am NOT here to profiteer (Honest Guv.)

Anywho I just got a call today from a Fan who we shall call Jason H. from St. Paul. He was asking if I am available to repoint his dish..........

Does a bear......... Is the pope a ..........

YES, the problem is I deleted his phone message then tried to call him, next problem is he left the wrong phone # (Or more like I copied it down wrong!)

Anyway Jason if you read this please give me a another call again and I will come over and re-point the dish.

I have a BRAND new satellite meter now that not only shows me the signal/Quality but it can actually show me a picture! So it's now possible to REALLY fine tune these dish and get them CRACK on the satellite!

    Go Sioux!

    Hi Pete,

It was me that called. Thanks letting me know you wrote down the wrong number. I don't know what we would do without our satellite and Sioux hockey. You can reach me at 612-940-6651. I can barely operate a remote, so I'm pretty sure a motorized dish is out of the question. Talk with you soon.

  8. My point still stands. Nobody gets assists "off the bench."

I agree that nobody gets an assist on the bench. Senja was on the ice when the empty netter was scored. The question was if he touched the puck or not. I am just surprised someone else remembers the game. The only thing I care about right now is tomorrow's game. 3-2 Sioux

  9. Actually, I think the game you're talking about was in Grand Forks. Senja was given an assist after the game was over that kept his scoring streak alive. However, as with all assists, it happened after representatives from both teams reviewed the tape and mutually agreed that he deserved to be credited. Contrary to popular belief, that's the way it works. I know. I was there.

Actually it was the game that took place on 1/31/03 in the springs. The Sioux went up 3 to 0 in the first and ended up losing 5 to 3. I remember it well. It was a heart breaker. CC scored an empty netter and Senja was given an assist after the game. I am not saying he didn't deserve it. But it was awarded well after the game. I respect your opinion PCM, but I was at this game in the Springs and do believe it is the one Mory was talking about. It was the assist that kept the streak alive.

  10. How does a player get a phantom assist from the bench? :D

I was at that game in Colorado Springs. We were listening to the post game on our way back to Denver and he was awarded the assist about an hour after the game. Nice catch Morley. Peter Senja

  11. Amen! This guy knows more about college hockey then all the rest of you brainsurgeons combined.

You're missing the point. Paukovich's hit on Bina should have been a major penalty. If that hit wasn't worthy of a 5-minute major, what is? What's the point of having major penalties in the game if they're not called when they happen?

Paukovich should have been gone from the game, forcing the Pioneers to juggle their lines just at the Sioux did when Bina was knocked out. The Sioux should have had three minutes of major penalty power play time. Maybe it would have been the difference in the game and maybe it wouldn't. But there's simply no excuse for UND not coming out of the situation with a power play.

The WCHA's after-the-fact suspension of Paukovich only proves that Adam blew the call on the ice. If you read about how horrid Adam was in officiating the UW-UAA series and how he failed to call a major penalty in one of those games (later asssessed by the WCHA -- again -- after the fact), perhaps you'd understand that Adam should have been the last person the league should want officiating a nationally televised tournament.

But year after year, season after season, the WCHA continues to operate as if nothing's wrong with its officiating. Even when the NCAA ordered college hockey to clean up its act this season, the WCHA temporarily went along and then got back to business as usual, ignoring the NCAA directive.

And what was one of the primary reasons that NCAA demanded changes in college hockey officiating? It was because of the way Denver played in winning its national championship. Yes, assessing a two-minute minor to Paukovich for flagrant boarding certainly tells me that the WCHA is into making serious changes in the way it officiates games.  ???

A player like Robbie Bina shouldn't have to get his neck broken before the WCHA sees the light.

  12. I talked to master control at the ralph and they don't even know how much power they are sending up to the satellite.

    this sucks

wonder how bad it will be for the FB game tomorrow?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I watched the game at Eagan Sensers and the game came in great all night. Might be the place to watch the football game tomorrow.
