Kind of missing the point, aren’t you? The one coach on staff that could replace Bubba as head coach and do better than him has left, and he took a lesser position at a rival institution. That is the issue.

Are you basing this on your personal experience as a college football player? Or is it based more on your varied experience as a college football coach?   Or, both?

One of my beliefs with roster construction is the appropriate amount of turnover is a good thing. From the Sr. class, who do we hope returns? Here's my list.

    • Belquist
    • Vaughn
    • McNaboe
    • Hembry
    • Beach
    • Navratil* (This is if the coaching staff believes he can return to the form he had as an underclassman)
    • Fort* (He looks to have another year of eligibility)

If Belquist returns, I hope the rumor of Wilson entering the portal is true.

*Navratil is on track to complete his MBA in the spring, a family member told us he wasn't planning on coming back.

I’ve wondered this as well. Looks like there is a lot of times that Tommy is locked in on somebody short of the sticks, so I’m guessing it’s a combination of play calling and decision making. He made some good throws down field yesterday so we know he is capable of it.

I don't think the first, or even second option on those pass plays is the 3 yard pass.  Those plays are not always designed to throw for 3 and hope the receiver can get the rest.  If the other primary routes are not open or safe, Tommy is taught to not force it.  Cautious, or maybe overly-cautious, I'm not sure.

  4. Longtime Fergus Falls dealership Nelson Auto is moving into the Grand Forks market.

According to a release, the Nelson family has purchased Lithia Ford and Lithia Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram dealerships in Grand Forks. Located in North Dakota's Red River Valley, Lithia has been serving drivers in Grand Forks and surrounding areas since 2006.

“We look forward to being part of the Grand Forks community,” said Adam Nelson, “and my wife Oriana and our sons, Benjamin and Anders are happy to call Grand Forks our new home!” In addition to Nelson Auto Center in Fergus Falls, the Nelson family owns three dealerships in western North Dakota, known as Red Rock Ford and Red Rock Auto in Williston, Dickinson and Watford City.

The acquisition will add to already existing dealerships the family already owns and operates in North Dakota.

“We were raised in Western Minnesota, but have grown deep roots in North Dakota over the past 12 years,” said Alex Nelson, “and both our parents are UND alumni. Our family looks forward to adding two more dealerships to our North Dakota family of stores.”

They are planning to significantly grow the size and services of the dealerships in North Dakota and will immediately focus on the service departments, adding technicians and customer support staff and remain committed to offering the most competitive offers on new and used vehicles in the region.

Over time, the Nelsons say they will also focus on building out the dealership's offerings to small and medium businesses including commercial-focused sales and service staff and mobile service.

“Our family has been in the car business since 1992,” said Adam, “and we’re excited to bring our local ownership to the Grand Forks community.”

I was told today that Riverside Christian School is not going to complete the purchase of a portion of the mall.   Apparently the mall and the city required too many hoops to jump through and now they are looking at other alternatives.

Haven’t seen ND play this year so no idea what to expect. They did beat Michigan four out of five times, which is impressive.

Brock Boltmann's younger brother Jake is D-man for Irish.

I think that UND gets a win today.  And I looked to see how Rebraca was doing at Iowa.  Here are his last 5 games.  Not too bad.  I am happy to see him performing for his new school.  That was a nice stat line in the Minnesota game.
