  1. JOKE, even the gophs fans can say that was halarious to watch really . they are lying if not

I read the game thread on KFan Rube Chat and even the MN fans were calling that a BS call. Given the time of the game, you could even question a boarding call, but a 5 minute major and a game DQ....

Who is that Thul guy? Name is not familiar to me....

  2. Very nice. You attending this weekend? I'll be there, if there is a way to pick you out of a crowd i'd love to have a cold one with ya. As far as the fantasy hockey goes, not trying to steal anyone, I just figured you guys could multitask as I can. I would love to get in on your fantasy league as well.

AZ Sioux runs a great fantasy league. It's a lot of fun. The only suggestion I'd have is the way the goalie scoring goes. If memory serves me correctly, a gaolie giving up 1 goal only earned 1 point more than a goalie giving up 4 goals.

He puts a lot of work into it and it is a lot of fun. It really keeps you in tune to who's doing what in the WCHA.

  3. Hmmm... that sounds a little bit like the Sioux/Bison rivalry except they only beat up on us for 12 years (not 100). But after we beat them 10 out of the next 13 they decided it was time to leave the conference and now they claim they're too good to play us (although I could give a rat's a$$ if we ever play them again or not). :whistling:

I can still remember at Memorial stadium when Mike Mooney stripped the ball and took it to the house....Man, that was fun.

  4. Unless Hockey is different that all other sports which I don't think it is, they wouldn't be able to sign until November of the senior year at the earliest.

I have not been to a womens game, but does Jenny Porter work as hard as Chris?

  5. Even if the war was not going on, this bridge would have still come down. Let me re-state this and maybe you will understand this time. It was not scheduled to be replaced untill 2020. That was not a deision that Tim Pawlenty made or President Bush, it was according to the engineers and the way the rate the bridges. If you need me to spell it out simplier I will, but I think an adult should be able to comprehend that.

Speaking of spelling, "If you need me to spell it out 'simplier' I will, but I think an adult should be able to comprehend that. ....and "deision" as you put it are a couple of words you missed on. Now, away from hooked on phonics and back to the discussion. From coast to coast, there are deficient bridges across america. Do you actually think the reason for that is because all states lack qualified DOT members. Maybe if the proper funding was there, we'd have the appropriate people evaluating damage and they wouldn't have to push construction projects back until the year 2020. Please, splell it ouuut four me one moor timmme.

  6. I still do not think that you can blame a specific administration. As you said there is blame to go around. This has nothing to do with the war. This bridge was not scheduled to be replaced untill 2020. The engineers make that call not a President or Mr. Pawlenty. I just think it was a tradegy and people need to stop for a minute and pray for the famlies and stop trying to make this a blame the republicans situation or even blame the dems. It just makes no sense to me.

This has everything to do with the war. We have pumped $600 billion into that war. Where does that money come from??? It comes from cutting in other areas. CNN reported today that MN needs $9 million per year to adequately fund their road and bridge repairs, but we are spending $2.5 billion. There's a reason why we are $6.5 million short, if indeed the figures from CNN are accurate. In addition, schools across America continue to cut teachers, programs, and classes. Cost goes beyond money, it extends into loss of education and services such as proper roadways.

  7. and to think minneapolis and hennepin county residents will be putting $350M into a baseball stadium... priorities ladies and gentlemen.

You're comparing apples to oranges. That baseball stadium will bring revenue back into Hennipen County and the State of MN, and is an entertainment venue that people have deemed important to the MPLS ecomony. Funding bridges and road costs is a fundamental gov't budget issue. We pay taxes to cover these costs. If we have a surplus, we obviously have extra money to go towards these costs. Education is no different. We are cutting education funds and programs left and right. This is a budget shortfall, plain and simple. Maybe we should worry about the infrastructure of America before we dump all the money on the infrastructure of Iraq.

  8. I flew out to Vegas last summer and as I got on the plane the pilot recognized I was wearing a Sioux shirt and explained he was a UND grad. We chatted a bit as people walked in. As we were getting into Vegas he came on the microphone and announced landing time, temperature, etc. and before he hung up the microphone he said "Go Sioux." To make the story even better, I was on a blackjack table at the Golden Nugget and had been tippin' back on Grandpa's cough medicine for majority of the day and for some reason decided it was necessary to stand up and say "Sioux, yeah, yeah" and immediately somebody sitting at a table a little ways away stood up and hollered "Yeah, Sioux, Sioux." It turned out he was from Florida, but had went to UND and still followed the Sioux closely....Pretty crazy but a lot of fun!

  9. Make no mistake there is more than enough blame to go around. Why shouldn't we blame those public officials who are charged with protecting us? It's their job isn't it? This bridge didn't fall down because of some natural disaster or horrifying accident. It fell because of neglect and incompetence by those in positions of leadership. It fell because for the past 10-15 years the people we've elected have put tax cuts, corporate handouts, entitlements, and massive defense spending ahead of our safety. What good is a long drawn out war supposedly for our protection if the bridges we drive on everyday give way, letting us plunge to our deaths? Why should we spend millions to build a bridge to nowhere in Alaska, if we can't even take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of one that serves a metro area of nearly 11 million people? It's not politicizing the tragedy, it's taking a step back looking at what happened and saying "How in the hell could anyone who could have done something about this have let this happen."

What's concerning in all of this is Gov. Pawlenty boasts of a surplus in MN. We have a surplus and then something like this happens because we did not invest the money and address the problem. I'm not blaming him, but I have a feeling things are going to get awfully ugly in the state of MN within the near future because MNDOT has been underfunded for quite some time.

  11. Let's have some fun....

If there were a UND (Athletics) Mount Rushmore...Who would you Pick...?

These four all get only one face each....Hockey, Basketball, Football, Coaching...

    I'm going Old School...Because I am

    Hockey - Tony Hrkac

    Basketball- Phil Jackson

    Football- Glen"Red"Jarrett

    Coaching- John"Gino"Gasparini

    Have add it.....

I would go with Ralph Engelstad, Gene Roebuck, Ed Belfour, and Dale Lennon. Engelstad's contributions towards hockey have brought financial stability to UND and Grand Forks that couldn't be matched by anyone else. Belfour is the most notable hockey player to succeed at the NHL level. Roebuck is a genious when it comes to recruiting and coaching, and his 3 peat is proof. Lennon won the only football title at UND, is ND born, a UND alumni, and is about the most honest guy you could find.

  12. A defendant is 'presumed innocent until proven guilty'. If I were on a jury and the only evidence presented was what was printed in a newspaper or reports on a news program, I would not vote that defendant guilty.

While I believe these men are criminal sexual predators, those who raped and those who watched, I believe they should all have been suspended from the team and school. Once they are found guilty, kick them out.

Our judicial system is not perfect, sad to say....

The original 3 players sat and fed the girl shots all night....meanwhile, they didn't take a shot themselves. Why do you think they challenged that girl to drink that many? Hmmmm, I wonder if they just wanted to see her get drunk?? This was all planned. The guy that was most recently charged is a step brother to one of the original three that had sex with her earlier in the evening. How sick is that? Do you really want these type of people getting a free education at your university while other hard working students pay via loans. Guilty in a court of law determines jail time, but a university has the right to determine who is worthy of receiving services at their institution.

  13. Lets not go overboard, remember he did attend St. Cloud State. Other than that one huge lapse in judgment, I agree he is a very well grounded "kid".

That's true.....We should have given him a mulligan on the St. Cloud St. decision.

  14. So I made a trip to Fargo yesterday to welcome home one of my friends back from New Orleans. We were going through the Forum and saw an ad about "Matt Cullen bobblehead night/Hockey Night" at the Redhawks game, and we thought "Awesome, let's get a bobblehead and an autograph!" We got there a half hour early to stand in line (yeah I know, at a Redhawks game, I thought it was weird too lol) so that we could get a bobblehead. First person I see when I walk in is some dude in a SIOUX jersey, and since it was Hockey night there were lots of hockey jerseys, it was fun!!

Matt and his wife walked out onto the field before the game, announcing something about Cully's Kids foundation or something like that, and then him and some guy shot a baseball at a hockey net from the pitchers mound to home base. He missed, by the way lol. And then he went up by the concessions and signed autographs for about a half hour during the start of the game.

He is such a friendly guy! Since he's from Moorhead, he had a lot of people who actually knew him come up to talk to him while he was signing autographs, and my friend (who is a GUY that is obsessed with him) took a picture with him and we both got our bobbleheads signed. We decided that we would try to go back to talk to him later because I wanted to ask him what it was like playing with Commie. But when we went back to talk to him, he had already gone off to somewhere else. But he was really friendly with everyone, truly a great guy!

About the game... They played the Zamboni song while some chick sang it, every time the Redhawks scored they had a hockey horn go off (which got really annoying, when we left the Redhawks were winning 11-2), and they were really trying to have a hockey night. It was a lot of fun!

You won't find a more grounded kid than Matt Cullen. When he brought the Stanley Cup back to Moorhead last year, he brought it to the Youth Hockey Arena and took a picture with every youth hockey member that showed up, and he signed numberous autographs throughout the weekend to make sure everyone got one. Even though Blake attends a lot of his functions, they're two completely different people in terms of attitude and personality.

  15. I am getting a sioux tattoo tomorrow and am wondering about a cool quote describing the sioux. Any of you fans have some interesting quotes that might be cool to go along with my outline of the logo on my back?

Have the logo tatooed on your buttocks and have them write, "Hostile and Abusive my ass!"

  16. I went and walked aroudn yesterday and went to the lawn mower races and i tell u what... I feel sorry for all the kids that paid 17 bucks to go on the rides. Thhey ere crappy...Also the lawn mower races were a HUGE joke too. 5 mowers 2 classes one had 3 other had 2 boring and waste of 10 bucks..

Anybody who pays $10 to go to lawn mower should understand they are wasting $10 before they walk in the door......seriously.......

  17. Speaking of the Devils, now that they have hired a Sutter as their coach I hope they stop drafting Sioux players. The Sutters do not have a good track record for letting players develop in their college programs.

As long as Lou is in charge, Sutter won't have much of a say in who they draft.....he's just another soldier in the army.

  18. First, Good luck Brian!

Second, I think Lee did a lot better than many of us think. We were just too fixated on a certain style of play for our D (like physical D and leave the offense to the forwards, which isn't Lee's gam at all).

Third: WHEW!!! Now that Lee's gone, we can focus the bashing on LaPoint, whose play is similar to Lee's. I can't imagine this board if Lee and LaPoint were both Sioux at the same time. Lee and LaPoint would be among the team leaders in points for defensemen and almost every postgame calling one or another to be benched or signed. This will be easier around here now that there's only Finley to bash (LaPoint soon enough).

Fourth Seriously, this is a blow to UND. Lee's offensive prowess and vision will be missed. His "haters" won't.

I agree Redwing....he's a first round pick, a minnesota mr. hockey, a 3 time world junior participant, and he was awarded a good contract, but yet to a lot of people he is no good or his time at UND was pointless. No matter how many people wanted him to be the physical player that Commie, Greene, or Smaby were, that's just not his style of play....good luck to Lapointe as he is probably the new whipping boy.
