  1. You want to tell me what exactly was done wrong? According to the article, nothing was. It's all private money.

Besides, I can't take anyone seriously who labels all of NDUS an "Education Cartel". Give me a break.

  2. A Not sure where to post story......

Visiting the Twin Cities this last weekend and while reading the Star Tribune and the St Paul Pioneer Press, found it interesting that there were a couple stories about UND Hockey and UND Womens Basketball in their papers....

I looked and looked for the other Div 1 institution from our state, no news? articles?....Where is the parity?

You don't think NDSU FB & BB seasons already being finished might have something to do with it do you? .... :)

  3. I may hate NDSU, but I don't participate in chants about them when I attend games at UND. I prefer to pretty much just ignore them and try to pretend they do not exist. The only time I show the hate is when provoked by Bison fans. Otherwise I try to keep them out of sight out of mind.

That's ok DaveK, I still love you, even if you are certifiably crazy. :D

  4. I just installed the Microsoft Vista Ultimate Edition on my home computer. Blows XP out of the water. :silly:

Can't wait to build a new system with only 64-bit hardware, so I can install the 64-bit version of the OS on it... :D

  5. With 700 entrants and winners like Chicago, New York City, Anchorage, Little Rock, Rochester (MN), Alexandria (VA), Redmond, etc..., this is a nice recognition that the Grand Forks community has worked hard to make itself a hospitable place for young people.

Yeah, can I get a vote of hands on who thinks the above highlighted cities are safe for children (one of the five promises)?

Ok, I swear, I'm done. So go ahead and further attack me knowing you'll be satisfied I'm not going to respond back. Aka, you'll get the last word...

  6. Nano

Take a moment and actually visit www.americaspromise.org. Particularly this page.

If you take the time to read the "Five Promises" you will notice that in this circumstance "young people" does not refer to 20-30 year olds who are unemployed.

If you'd actually read my reply more carefully I stated :

It may be a safe place to raise a family, but there's nothing here for our young people.

AND are you ready for this SiouxMD???.....

There's barely anything here for the crowd just above the younger crowd, or in other words 20-30 year olds, unless you're one of the select few who can land a decent job in either Fargo, Bismarck, or Grand Forks.

Yeah that's right, I was talking about TWO different groups of people...

Apparently, Grand Forks did a better job at the "Five Promises" than 600 other communities who felt that this award was worth obtaining. Just because Fargo did not receive the award (because it did not apply or possibly did not deserve the award) does not diminish its significance.

and to think I'M the one being accused of starting a -vs- battle... you're little comment above sure indicates otherwise...

    Seriously...graze somewhere else.
    ;)

I'm just fine and dandy here, thank you. ;)

  7. How about Chapman? He has been looking to move up in the past and he is a big DI proponent. So what better than a school with a program with a rich tradition and 7 DI titles. ???

    A move up? :whistling:

You guys are too funny! :D

  8. It's dangerous to listen to too much of your own spin. It's more dangerous when you start to believe it.

You need to look objectively at what UND's accomplished over Kupchella's tenure.

    :whistling::D:)

Ok, there Bill O'Rielly..... sorry I'll stay out of your "no-spin zone"!!!

Dangerous... lmao... Oh that's good... ;)

  9. Stenehjem said his office has no record or bills from the Utah attorneys and referred all questions about their payment to UND.

The UND president, the head of the UND Foundation and an attorney managing a private NCAA litigation fund say they have not seen bills from the Utah attorneys.

Peter Billings, the lead Salt Lake City-based attorney, did not return phone messages seeking comment.

How much are the attorneys being paid?

    And who

  10. Glad I sparked what is amounting to a jr. high after school special style controversy.

I talked to somebody inside USD about relationships with the former NCC schools and that is what I was told. NDSU is friendly to USD and SDSU is indifferent. These people are putting together schedules for the future, they talk to each other. I was also told that NDSU would like the 4 Dakotas to get back in the same conference, I've already stated the reasons.

Do I have concrete proof. No, I don't have any signed affadavits. Feel free to call it rumor or speculation. If that is how you would like to categorize it that is fine with me. Just remember this little controversy I started 3 or 4 years from now when conference announcements come out.

    :silly:

No offense, but I would think someone 'inside' USD would be one of the last people, who knew the views of the NDSU staff and administration. I haven't heard anything from the athletic department of along the lines 'boy I wish all 4 of us could get back into the same conference, that would be swell'. If that was really the case, don't you think that NDSU and SDSU would not be bolting for the Gateway, if given the chance, but instead staying in the Great West to build that conference up. It's going to be at least 4-5 years, until you two, UND and USD, are eligible for playoffs, and at that time count on our schedule, when we might finally consider playing either of you. I'm not going to hold my breath though. At that point, our scheduling should pretty much fill up quickly every year. Same with SDSU's. I always thought that UND royally shot themselves in the foot by not moving up with NDSU/SDSU when they did. But USD, is simply going to be the Red-haired bastard child no one will want. If it wasn't the case, I would have expected to see UND/USD teaming up like we did in the hunt for conferences, but that isn't the case, is it? I see USD having ALOT of problems in their move up, and no support what-so-ever. It will be interesting, that's for sure.

  11. My apologies to those who miss the annual Sioux/Bison game, but it is my opinion that playing the Bison again would be like taking a step backwards. That is something that is in our past, and now we have much bigger fish to fry.

As for Grand Valley, I would love to see them in I-AA very soon. They're a great team that could beat anybody in I-AA right now and probably even some of the weaker D1 teams.

I can't believe this, but I share the same viewpoint as DaveK. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Good luck to you guys and your pursuits in DI. Hopefully you can get into the BigSky and the xDSU's can get into the Gateway.

  12. ... If the Sioux and the Bison played this year it would most likely be an excellent game that would come right down to the wire like most of those played in the series...

    ROFLMAO :D

Thanks, I needed a good laugh...

    ;)

  13. I agree, NDSU had a fine season. Who Cares??? Move on!

    Go Bison!!!

That's funny, last time I checked it was a free country. I'll continue posting if I want to. If you don't like it, quite reading the thread!

    :D

  14. We all have opinions on schedules and who would have done what with someone else's schedule.

I went to a source that has no dog in this fight (to try to take my opinion out of it):

    Massey Ratings, Strength of Schedule.

    NDSU 138

    UND 149

If you want to talk Massey Ratings, here are the first five non-DI-As listed:

    NDSU

    Montana

    UMass

North Dakota <-- #1 in DII, ahead of all but 3 of DI-AA

    Youngstown St.

Yeah Sicatoka, you just hop on over to the Montana board and tell them you're strength of schedule is pretty much equivalent to theirs. When you come back crying because everyone was laughing at you, I'll just grin with a smirk on my face.

    :D

  15. How am I being overly biased? Look at the numbers. They don't lie. Delusional might be a bit strong, how about silly? Maybe blind? Anyways, How are the comparisons mute? Do you want a mute comparison? Here goes: UND beat UNI, UNI beat SDSU, NDSU beat SDSU. Therefore UND beats NDSU. ;) Now there is a mute comparison. That's sarcasm if you missed it. Don't snap on me.

Like I said, it was just one of those years where potentially great teams on their schedule had rather mediocre, if not poor years. Are you honestly going to try and tell me that those teams had good/great years? Anyways.....If NDSU played the same teams next year, it could be completely different. In fact, it probably would. I can't imagine Georgia Southern being down for more than this year. Minnesota might get to 7 wins next year with a new coach. Cal-Poly, UC-Davis, and SDSU will always have very competitive teams IMO. But this year is just that, this year. Don't get so bent out of shape.

Liar, I thought you said you were done. ???

  16. But, in the end, it's only a decent schedule IMO. As I've said elsewhere on this board too, NDSU had no way to control this and played the hand they were dealt. Any NDSU fan who disagrees with that is delusional, as is any UND fan who disagrees that NDSU didn't have a great season. End of Story.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I think you're overly biased, and your comparisons are mute. ???

    I'm done now.

    Thank god. :silly:

  17. Random Observations after reading through this: ...... Massey's strength of schedule has NDSU (137) just 11 slots ahead of UND (148), of over 700 teams listed, so please don't tell me about "most difficult NDSU schedule ever"...

You mean that same rating here, which shows us ranked #1 in DI-AA (we're the first one on the list)...

Can you please explain how it was NOT the most difficult schedule the school has ever played?

.... A watered down NCC (no UNC, no xDSUs), with DI-AA UNI and Winona State as non-conference, was nearly as good....

Then perhaps it would be wiser for your school to remain in the NCC and quit with this foolish move up to DI-AA?

    I didn't think so...

    ???

Why'd only 5000-ish come to The Al Saturday? Simple. 49-2. I almost didn't go for that reason. I saw WSU v. Wayne State on FSN-North on Friday night and knew that their run defense wasn't going to stand up to UND's offensive line and that their pass blocking schemes hadn't improved. (Ask that QB's wrist.)

That's a hell of an excuse :silly: to not go and support your team. Even when we played Concordia-St. Paul, we had many butts in the seats... including my own. Made it to every home game and even paid for tickets when I could have got in free. (Better seats...)
