Satellite Move for The Fighting Sioux Sports Network
a_hockeynut replied to cheesemover's topic in Men's Hockey
Thanks for finding the game! I must admit though, I tuned in expecting (hoping, praying) to hear an announcement on whether the Sioux hockey game would be available on FSSN or not on Saturday. I realize FSN will have it tape delay at 10pm, but am still hopeful to get to see it live! All indications from other posts make it sound like only certain areas will have it live on FSSN, which leads me to believe it will not be beamed up FTA (unless of course Iceberg finds a feed like the game tonight). I will be watching this space for certain, especially if no availability is made public for an FSSN FTA feed!!!!! -
Congratulations Devils Lake High School Hockey! 3rd place in state, way cool! Gotta love the technology we have available now, to be able to listen to the North Dakota State High School hockey games over the internet (when before I wouldn't have even known they were taking place)! Now if only I could watch a video feed of the high school hockey games (ahh, some day)! Did anyone record the 3rd place game? I presume it was televised? I would be interested in a copy if anyone did, please PM me. Also wondering if perhaps there will be some sort of memorabilia to celebrate the occasion, a team poster with the 3rd place trophy? Post here if anybody heres of such a thing, I would love to have that for my hockey collection! I have been reading with interest the return of Al Henry as coach as well. Back in my high school days he was the coach, I didn't realize he had left and came back again!

Thanks for the info! I will have to try to tune in later today.

Bummer, while I am posting the game is over. Who does DL play tomorrow, and what time?
-
I have to agree with you! Who would have thought I would be able to listen to DL play in the state hockey tourney! And being I am originally from DL, I am cheering for the Alma-mater! Although I have to admit, it would be even nicer to get to see it on TV (if only FSSN would carry the games)! I am having a hard time choosing which hockey game to listen to though. The Sioux are tied with Denver right now 3-3. Given that DL is down, I am listening to the Sioux game and watching for updates in this thread to the high school hockey game, appreciate the updates here.

I received my first newsletter from the Sioux tromp of the Mankato Mavericks last night in hockey, and was very pleased! I have wanted to be able to receive Sioux hockey game summaries like this via email for a very long time! Excellent! There was a link in the email newsletter to "Article audio/Video" which did not work though. The link was this: disabledscript:openOnDemandViewer('56800',%20'61597') Since it reads "disabledscript", is that something which is not quite ready for primetime yet? Perhaps it will be part of the premium services? I even went to the free video section of the website to see if I needed to download some viewer or something, and the free videos worked fine. Any ideas?

Satellite Move for The Fighting Sioux Sports Network

Had a hard time getting the channel to scan in. I had the montana football game fine yesterday, so I thought it would be as easy as doing a manual scan on the TP with my fortec classic NA, but no dice! Hopped online and saw iceberg was getting it fine. I panicked (thought I was going to have to be climbing out on the ladder to tweak my dish), but alas a blind scan picked it up (whew!). No problem with sound here (of course I missed the start of the game). The TP was a little different that what I had before, not sure why, but not going to worry about that anymore (game ON, Sioux lead 2 to 1 at the end of the first period, and WOW this is so AWESOME to get to watch the Sioux hockey game!!!!!! Hey, I just saw an advertisement for Sioux sports weekly, will that be on FSSN too? Just curious! Go SIOUX!!!!!! I think it is way too funny they are playing the bison! Was hoping I would get to hear the bison joke at the start of the game (the one iceberg hinted they pull every year). Maybe I can get the recap -
according to this thread: http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=76472 Dish network is offering "4 weeks of America's Top 120, 180 and DishLatino channels -Free October 5 Through November 1, 2006". With that, I will have no problem getting the Sioux hockey away games in Wisconsin (plus some MN Wild hockey to boot!).
-
I recently put up a motorized FTA system with the primary goal of watching Sioux Hockey games. I had read Wisconsin away games are on FTA, but I am thinking the Oct13th and Oct14th games are a home game for Wisconsin I do have dish network and live in MN, but currently only have america's top 60 which does not include FSN. In fact we have been toying with cancelling dish network entirely, but I am trying to get a feel for whether I will be able to find most of the games on FTA, or if I should opt for keeping dish network and upgrading to include FSN (and would get the alternates as well). That is what I am wrestling with.
-
Can you elaborate for those of us who also have satellite and are very interested in being able to see the Sioux hockey away games?
-
I should read the other new posts before I start responding. I see you posted the info on the feed over here: http://siouxsports.com/forums/index.php?sh...=6652&st=60 I would still like to know if you knew ahead of time, or just happened to pick it up on a blind scan.
-
So this game was on 89W (IA8)? Did you know ahead of time you would be able to find the game, or just happened to hit it by scanning? Wish I had known. I wondered if since the game was going to be broadcast across the state of ND if it would be up on FTA! I didn't realize it would be on the same satellite as FSSN. I like your thinking!!!! Waiting is almost over for hockey to start!!!!!

Satellite Move for The Fighting Sioux Sports Network

Thanks for letting us newbies know! My signal strength varied between 50 and 60 percent. Should I be expecting more than that (wondering if I should try to tweak my dish at all)? Also, my blind scan found it at 12047 freq, and the symbol rate was 6150. Of course being a newbie I know nothing, but it seems odd, do you know why that would be? I have the fortec classic NA receiver. -

Thanks Iceberg! You are right on! I am now able to scan the arc and am finding all the channels on the satellites (some even have more channels than listed on the Kohl website). One concern I had is I could not find 89W in the list of satellites to choose from. I thought I had it in the list before, but now I could not find it. All the other satellites listed on the Kohl website seem to be on there. Any ideas? I did figure out how to add it manually though (named it IA-8 Sioux), so not a big deal. Thanks again for the help!!!!! Now just have to wait for the hockey games to start!!!!!!! -

Iceberg, I was finally able to order the motorized FTA system I wanted from Sadoun. Amazingly FedEx got it delivered to my house in-between tornado warnings last Thursday... 1/2 hour after signing for it with FedEx we were heading back to the basement as the tornado warning sirens were sounding again! My wife said it was a good thing I didn't have it installed yet, or the winds might have destroyed the dish! Anyhow, this weekend I got my dish mounted (went with the 36" dish). I tried at first to just have the motor and dish mounted, and was hoping to be able to swing the dish and hone in on my true south bird. Couldn't get a signal. I rechecked the pole, it was perfectly level. But when I checked the motor, it was not sitting level. I figured I could work on leveling it with the motor later, I just wanted to see it work. So I resorted to pulling the motor off and reset the angle of the dish to what it would be without the motor, and shazam, I hit 87 W (so I was a little off from true south). So I was hoping to swing 6 degrees west to hit 93 W, and went a bit far and hit 97 W. How I knew what satellites I was hitting is because of the channel list found here: http://www.global-cm.net/MPEGlistKuBandUS.html The receiver I got is a Fortec Star Lifetime Classic NA. Can it figure out what satellite I hit, or do I have to guess at it by comparing the channels it finds with the channels from the list? Or is this a learned art? Ultimately I want to know when I have hit 89 W (so I know for sure I can get FSSN, the main reason I got the dish to watch Sioux hockey games). The channels shown currently for 89 W in that list are as follows: V-11952 1202 3/4 03.979 0033 0038 ABC NEWS ONE LIVE V-11956 1206 3/4 03.979 3601 3604 ABC NEWS NOW Now I know some channels are not broadcast all the time right? So if there are no channels currently broadcasting from the satellite (maybe unlikely?), I am not goinng to find the satellite either right? I guess I am wondering if I can expect to find these channels when I hit 89 W, and are these the only channels there currently? Also, I appreciate all you contribute to helping us hockey nuts be able to feed the need for more hockey! I am looking forward to tuning in to whatever games I can pickup this hockey season, and thanks for your posts here to help find hockey feeds!!!!
