  1. Both Seeburg and Bombenger were tied for the lead, Bombenger and Klein finished with 36 points while Seeburg was tied with 2 other teammates at 29. I can't say that I have ever heard of Seeburg before so that was a little surprising. Just wondering, but what kind of numbers did Seeburg put up last year? I also believe that Arnason definately should have been amongst the group.
  2. No Diechert on there? I think that if South goes deep into State, which they most likely will do, I have to think that Diechert or Wurden will be Mr. Hockey. You have to give McDougall credit for getting points, but I don't see him winning Mr. Hockey. He should be getting points like that with all of the other good players around him. Miller is also having a good year, and he has had a very successful High School career. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but when they vote for Mr. Hockey, do they just base it off the most recent season, or over the seasons the players have played at the High School Level?
  3. Are all of these totals updated from games over the past weekend and what not?
  4. You just proved the exact point that people have been trying to state. Meland plays on an all around better team then North, and I'm pretty sure that UNDhockey22 has been trying to get across exactly what you just said. In his previous posts he stated that with an all around better team you can and will be able to keep more offensive pressure on especially with 2 great defenseman in Galbreath and Laduecer holding the blue line along with 3 solid lines to help carry momentum. UofMGrad, do you have any reason to rag on Tyler Klein so much? In almost everyone of your posts you seem to say something negative about Klein. If this is a way of trying to build up your own confidence you are going about it in the wrong way. I think Tyler has around 22 points and everygame I have watched he works very hard in trying to control the game and make his linemates around him better. Tyler's linemates Bekkedahl and Bombenger are both good players. Now through the passed years they produced more middle of the pack numbers. If I remember right, last year Tanner had around 12 points while I think Bekkedahl had somewhere around that also. Granted last year was ugly for North, and I think Klein only managed about 20. Now this year you put Tanner and Ryder with Klein their point totals have already doubled from what they have put up in previous years. Now you can take it or leave it but Klein seems to be putting up decent numbers and his other linemates numbers have went way up. I think Klein knows how to make the players around him better, and also his linemates know how to finish on rebounds which also in turn makes Klein's points go up also.
  5. I agree there are times when the puck should be given up a little more on that first line for all of them. It seems as though they don't click very well sometimes. It looks like they are trying to make a low percentage pass across the ice, while a short pass is probably the better one. Although I disagree on you saying that Klein doesn't look to pass. When I watch him play he looks to pass and put his linemates in a good position to score. I've seen numerous times this year where Klein has given it up to Bombenger or Bekkedahl to put them in on a break. Once that line finds the right spark I think they will be very dangerous. I agree with WF playing a pretty decent game. I think if they could have capitalized on a few more powerplays that would have obviously been of some help. North had a few let downs, which they always seem to have. I think it was Labernik who had 2 goals to keep the spartans rolling. Dan Zehran played great. He made some very important saves for the Spartans tonight and proved to be a big key in the game. North has their next game in Grand Forks vs. RR on friday.
  6. North vs. GFC recap: North won the game 3-1 with goals coming from Bekkedahl, LaBounty, and Kost. This game was very chippy, scrappy, messy, you name it. There were multiple penalties after the whistle and a lot of unintelligent penalties from a few GFC boys. The first period was definately the best period of this event. To me it looked like North started off rollin pretty good in the first period. The Bombenger, Klein, Bekkedahl line looked very solid and provided multiple scoring oppourtunities for the Spartans. The game seemed to completely drop off the table after the first period. Both teams seemed to lose intensity and both teams started to play considerably worse than the first period. North had a long 5 on 3 and 5 on 4 at the end of the second period and Central killed both of them off. North's powerplay definately did not have its best night. On their powerplay it seemed like everyone was trying to rush passes, shots and so on. Ness played very well. He made big saves when he needed to and helped Central stay in the game. North could have ran the score up maybe a few more goals if they would have finished on their chances. Central got quite a few penalties after the whistle and initiated a few scrums after the whistles. Central looked very undiscipline and that could possibly because of a lack of some leadership because, from what I have heard, Alex Simonson quit the team. Overall, it was another nice win for North, especially in Grand Forks. If North had buried more of their chances we would have seem a little more gap between the teams in scoring, but a good goaltender in Ness helped control that. North plays South on Saturday. Both teams are undefeated and I hope the North South rivalry is much better than last year. On another note, GPR and DL play tonight. With all the DL talk I am very curious to see how they do against one of the better teams in the East. I like Grafton in this game with a score of 5-2. Grafton has too much scoring power.
  7. I think quite a few people would agree with me and saying that South has some good, big Defenseman. South has Wurden, Metz, Dawson, and Wagner for their 4 big Defenseman. Yes Wagner and Dawson are nothing special, but they are big and hard to get around especially at the Coliseum. You can't tell me that Wurden and Metz aren't good. I wasn't stating they had just amazing defense, but more that they were big and 2 of them were good players. I know Central is always a good team come tournament time but I saw them play Shanley and they struggled for a while. Central does have a good goalie but no depth anywhere else. Simonson is a good scoring punch but most teams will just key on him if he is all they have. If they can prove me wrong, more power to them. Sorry for my lack of credibility. I will let you handle all of the Central talk from here.
  8. I was also at the GPR South game last night. Grafton is definately not down this year but they do have a few week points on their team. In the first period their goalie looked decent and he managed to make the saves. Grafton's D isn't the greatest but they are a very young, as is the whole team. Grafton seemed to take a lot more penalties than South but Grafton seemed to kill off many of them including two 5 on 3s. Graftons top 2 lines are very fast and will produce many goals. On the other hand, South is very big and they have good defenseman. South's powerplay seemed a little shaky at first but as Grafton kept taking penalties South's powerplay looked better. South will be a very good team this year and I look forward to seeing these two teams play again. Also, Fargo North came out of this last weekend with 2 wins off of Bismarck High and Century. Aren't these two teams supposed to be 2 of the top teams in the West this year. Yes, I know it's the West, but still a couple of good wins to get the Spartans going. I think North will definately battle with Devils Lake for that 4th spot in the East. How does everyone think the game will go with North and GPR on Thursday?
  9. From what I heard of this passed weekend it sounded like North did pretty well in the WF scrimmages. I heard they won two and lost one. Their only loss which was to WF was 3-2 and North played their second goalie for half of the scrimmage and he has never played goalie before this year. In the other 2 games they won 5-2 and 4-2. It will be interesting to see how they do this weekend. I am also looking forward to a good game between Grafton and South. I guess we will really find out about Grafton's goalie problems, if any, in that game.
  10. On a differant note from everything else in this post, how do you guys think penalties will effect the games this year with the tighter rules of stick use. The refs are being told to call stick penalties very tight and they are being told that when a players stick is off the ice to expect a penalty. I think it will be good for teams with speed because the only option to slow them down is to hook, slash, trip. I've heard in the Elite league that there are many penalties a game for stick work and it seems hard to make the transition to the new rules. On to my question though. Do you think the penalties will cause any upsets because of the amounts of penalties. Teams could run into having a hard time staying out of the box and with having a decent powerplay I think there could be some upsets this year. Although it could go the other way and lead to a blowout also. Just wondering what everyone thinks.
  11. Well looks like we might as well get some BC shirts made too. Its so easy for everyone to rip on the gophers, but lucky for the sioux parise put the team on his back and helped them beat mankato which was a play in series because the sioux couldnt put together a good enough regular season to guarantee themselves a spot in the Final 5. The sioux could have very well not even been there. Parise's show ended today, and i dont really think it was all UND's falt because their offense was strong but it was match by the play of BC's goaltender.
  12. So now with central's win over GPR does that give them the tie break over north for the 5th seed because aren't they tied in points now.
