  1. 2nd period comes to a close. Finland leading US 4-2. US needs to figure out how to stay out of the box as both Finland goals game on the the power play that period. (And actually, both came at the tail end of 5-on-3's.) They have a bit of a hole to dig themselves out of, and judging by the scoring struggles they have had, it may be too much to ask. GO, USA!!!!
  2. DiPietro comes up huge on an odd-man rush. USA turns it around to a 2-on-1 the other way. . . .of course, no score.
  3. That took all of 30 seconds. . . . . 4-2 Finland. They will still have a man advantage for the next 1:29. (17:20 into 2nd.)
  4. Come ON guys. . . . .50 seconds of 5-on-3. . . Schneider takes a cross checking. We don't need to go down by 2 here.
  5. Whoops, almost give up a shorty. . . now we play 4-4. Tkachuk in the box.
  6. USA on another power play. . . come on guys, make this one count!! 15 1/2 into 2nd.
  7. I was beginning to think I was reporting to myself. Glad you appreciate it. On that note, Finland takes a penalty 12 minutes into 2nd. GO, USA. Get a PP goal!
  8. With 4 seconds left on Finland power play, US gives up a goal 3-2 Finland. We had done awesome up to that point.
  9. Oops, two men down. Why don't we just GIVE them a goal?
  10. Gee, imagine, Hatcher takes a penalty. Come on guys, don't give one up here!!
  11. About 1 1/2 minutes in - power play goal for US ties the game at 2-2. Mathieu Schneider gets this goal on a HUGE shot from the point! GO, USA!!! Let's see if we can actually take a lead here!
  12. In the other game, Sweden is leading Switerland in the 3rd period 5-2. Forsberg is playing and playing well, which is bad for all other teams.
  13. Changed the US goal - Mike Knuble is getting credit for it. 1st period over 2-1 Finland. . . however, US will get powerplay to start the 2nd period, as Saku Koivu takes a high sticking penalty right at the buzzer.
  14. 13:14 into 1st Mathieu Schneider gets USA on the board . . . .2-1 Finland.
  15. 12:01 into the 1st US gives up yet another short handed goal. . . . 2-0 Finland
  16. 1-0 Finland 10:24 in the 1st
  17. 2-1 Sweden after 1
  18. Mark Streit scores for the Swiss to tie game at 1-1. (9:00 minutes into the 1st period.)
  19. Henrick Sedin scores at 3:05 of the 1st period to put Sweden up 1-0 on the Swiss. (Gerber is in net - didn't have a chance)
  20. You can follow realtime scores and even written play-by-play at www.nbcolympics.com Click on Ice Hockey on the left hand side when you see live in red, then click on Men's. Towards the right side of the screen there will be a listing of the games and whether they are in progress, final, etc. Anyway, click on In Progress and you will get a screen that gives you the score, penalties, shots on goal, etc. There will also be a link towards the top of that page that says Play-By-Play and if you click on that, you will get a typed play-by-play of the game. I know it is not the same as audio, but it is better than nothing. (Hopefully this helps and makes sense.)
  21. I can't find anything that says they will be on their website. A lot of times if they are televised, they do not do the audio broadcasts. I will do some more checking and see what I can find out.
  22. Maybe the IIHF should start an investigation. . . . . . .
  23. Yeah, let's go out and score. . . .now that everyone thinks we can't. Great strategy by our coaches!!
  24. Agree - lots of guys getting "1st goals of the tourney". . . maybe the floodgates will open?? One can hope, right?
  25. Scoring chances 29 (US) to 11 (Russia) - and we are LOSING? Have to agree with you on this one.
