  1. If you want to put up the stats for only the "big" games for goalies, then maybe we should do it for position players as well. So do you all think the Campbell's deserve no consideration because they have 0 points against FSH and RR? All-state and Mr Hockey are season long awards and the one stat that we can compare goalies stats with is save percentage, you can say it hurts to have bad defenseman but in when you only see 15-20 shots a game such as Deichert or Rosendahl it makes it that much more impressive to see there %'s at the top of the state. There is no room for error when you see that few of shots, so you can fight for guys like Kringstad as much as you want but right now Rosendahl and Deichert are head and shoulders above the competition, including Hillman. Even though Hillman has been impressive in a few games, SO FAR overall there is no comparison because they have the top 2 GAAs, top 2 save %'s, and they are on the undoubtedly top 2 teams in the state.

  2. First of all, Tony Kringstad is nowhere near the top of the state this year. Second of all, I dont doubt that the Campbells are good, but they have done NOTHING in the two biggest games of their year to date, RR and FS. You dont deserve to be Mr Hockey for putting up 6 points on sub-par teams. When you are ready to get rid of your grafton boner you can post again. 4 of 6 all-staters from a team that is FOURTH in the east region, that's genius.

  3. The time matters because people were bitching about the game being over and Phil putting one into the stands, which obviously the game wasn't over.

And, I'm glad that you're the SiouxSports police, I'll be sure in the future to PM you and make sure that you like it before I post something.

All I'm saying is that you shouldnt make excuses for his actions. We all know the game was over, whether the clock said so or not. Do you really think he did this as an "in-game" play? Get real.

  4. Feeling's pretty mutual than.

And, I just watched it over. Phil touched the puck with 2.8 seconds left, and shot it into the stands with 1.4 seconds left, so the game was not over.

Why does it matter how much time was on the clock? When a goalie plays a puck and no one is within 50 feet of him is it a good play to fire it into the stands. Dont post on her if you dont know what youre talking about and youre just gonna be a typical sioux homer.

  5. The horn blows, a half a second later Phil shoots the puck into the stands. Had the whistle been blown with 1 second left and Phil shoots the puck into the crowd, then it's not as bad? Umm ok. He shot the puck into the stands and while it wasn't a smart move, but it's not that big of a deal.

OK hows this for a difference, there is a reason to shoot the puck out when being pressured, which by the way is usually intended to be iced and may leave the rink, the game was completely over!! Even if the horn had just blown, the game was over with 15 seconds left if you would have been watching they were just ticking the time away. Tell me a reason Phil would have done that, and dont say he was frustrated because he is a 21 year old adult and you cant let "being frustrated" make you lose your head.

  6. As a sioux fan, I was very disappointed in Phil's shot into the stands at the end of the game. If Kellen Briggs shot a puck into the stands at the Ralph the same way Phil did, all of you defending him would be saying how bad it was, and that includes are radio guys Hennesey (worst homer ive ever heard) and Lotysz (sounds like he learns the game through a manual as he talks).

  7. Here we have a Grand Forks fan/player/whatever complaining about the refs impacting the game/career of a Red River player? What is this world coming to. I thought that only Fargo people complained about the refs.

Maybe you should look at what was written, I was pointing out that it should not effect a season.

  8. Yes as a matter of fact I did see it, and although I disagree with your comment, the point of my post was to discredit the assumption that one shot hurt his "stock".

Did you even see the game? I saw it live and have it on tape. It was a clear penalty shot situation. He then beat Eli Rosendahl like a rented mule. Rosendahl is very good and there is nothing to be ashamed of--Marc Harrie is also very good.

  9. I can't pull a #5 team out of the mess of teams in the middle. Clearly South is at the top right now followed by Red River and Grafton. I would put Minot next although I am not convinced that they would end up fourth in the state at the end of the season. Hillman is stong for Bismarck but their defense gave up 54 shots against South and they could not hold off Devils Lake in a 3-2 loss. The west is a big question mark with the exception of Minot. There are some good goalies around the state but I have not seen the level of performance in important games to rate a nomination for Mr. Hockey. Hillman probably comes closest for his effort against South - but he is a junior. There are plenty of big games to play and one of them could merit such a nomination based on future performances. Rosendahl could have improved his stock if he would have stopped Marc Harrie's penalty shot. He could still come up big.

It's funny to me that you would say his stock is lower because of one penalty shot, in the first game of the year none the less. I'd say his stock would be improved had the refs not made the weak penalty shot call and had they not called the third goal, which clearly never crossed the line, a goal. It's stupid to point at one play as irrelevant as that when looking at a season long award.

  10. Yea back when I played, purpur was always full when we came down. I think this is maybe a testament to the kids, maybe they are too aragent and the people at school choose not to support them, thats what happend with our bball teams back in the day. I am wondering if the state tournament were to be held in a different city if ANY of thier fellow students would even make the trip.

Its been a while since i've played but, one rink that was always tough was jamestown. They had a solid pep band, and most of the time very questionable officiating.

Jamestown would only be hard to play at if you are from Wahpeton. It's humorous to say that the 2nd worst team in the edc year in and year out would be the hardest place to play. Oh, but they do have a killer sax player, which does make it real tough to come out with a W, you damn fool.

  11. I was at the RR-Grafton game tonight and it was pretty even, except for the goalie play. The final score was 4-1, with Grafton's lone goal coming on a tip-in with about 4 minutes left in the third period. The goalie play was the story tonight, with Eli Rosendahl coming up huge for the Riders and Kringstad looking shaky at best. I came to the arena thinking that I would see a battle of the state's two top goalies, but that was simply not the case. I think this game showed who the top 2 teams in the state really are - South and Red River. Grafton has two good players, but the Riders really shut them down tonight.

One thing that I did notice, however, was the attitude of Grafton goalie Tony Kringstad. He drew one penalty and took a few cheap shots at other Red River players. At one point in the second period, I went to stand behind the Grafton net. During one stoppage of play, Kringstad pulled off his mask and made an obscene gesture to some fans standing behind the net. I was quite unimpressed with his play and his actions.

I too saw Kringstad's obscene gesture, and what I found worst about it was they were down 3-0. Maybe this kid needs to get his head in the game and stop acting like Marcus Vick by cocking off when his team is down 3 goals.

  12. Im guessing everything but Paul Campbell is a joke.

    G: Sean Deichert/ Michael Hillman

    D: Eric Galt

    D: Andrew Peterson

    F: Thomas Campbell

    F: Paul Campbell

    F: Paul Weisgarber

Mr. Hockey: One of the Pauls

Coach of the Year: Mark Pivetz

Have you seen RR play? Because if you had you would know that Mihulka, Rosendahl, and Galbreath are undoubtedly well deserving.

  13. Mine would be:

    G: Eli Rosendahl-RR

    D: Jarret Galbreath-RR

    D: Brian Lee-Dickinson

    F: Marc Mihulka-RR

    F: Paul Cambell-GPR

    F: Nick Klenow-North

So far Mr. Hockey is looking like it will end up in Fargo, in the hands of Nick Klenow.

Coach of the year is Jay Erickson-Fargo North

    what does everyone else think?

I'm guessing the Klenow and Erickson parts are jokes...

  14. From what I gathered it isn't talent that will keep Toews off the team. It's that there are enough returnees and qualified older players ahead of Toews that will keep him off the team. It's an age thing.

And I agree with siouxnami about Jones. I think, if he is drafted, the highest he could possibly be taken is the 6th round.

Well you heard wrong because Cam Barker, a defenseman, is Team Canada's only returnee.

  15. 1. South/Grafton

    3. Red River

    4. West Fargo

    5. North

    6. Minot

    7. Central

    8. Williston

Top seed can't be decided till they play their make up game. That should be an amazing high school hockey game and i think it will come down to who takes more penalties because both teams should have deadly powerplays with all the firepower they have.

Thats a flat out joke, WF as a 4? I think you've gone mad from all your posting. Rethink your rankings until you have something intelligent to post.

  16. WOW, you must have lost to GF teams your whole life. You seem pretty upset. How can you even say that GF kids dont have talent? What other town in ND has produced more successful hockey players? Im interested to know?

Read it again, Im making fun of those who blame the refs.....as the last sentence would imply.

  17. Good point to everyone who says the refs favor GF. As a matter of fact, thats probably the reason that the GF schools have won 90% of the ND state titles. You guys should contact ESPN because Jeremy Schaap would love to do an Outside the Lines special on this large scale pro-GF corrupion. Hopefully they explain that the superior talent and coaching in GF has nothing to do with them winning.......

  18. I disagree. LaDoucer will be ready by the end of the year if he opts to go. As far as Vigen strength is not an question with him. Both Vigen and meland have the skill to move on to the next level maybe not next season but definately their senior year.

Cambell didnt get much done against the second line of Brown, Vigen and Benke. He is a good player but benke, vigen, and brown are all capable of keepin up with him.

Benke didnt play with brown and vigen, schneider did.

  19. The South-RR game was a truly great HS hockey game. I would say it was nearly completely even and either team could have easily won. The one thing that stood out to me however, was the play of South's goalie. Although he only allowed one goal, he was amazingly unsure of himself and made many mistakes on shots that should not have gave him problems. Red River proved that they are undoubtedly going to once again be a force.

  20. I like when people make false assumptions about things they do not know. I have no association with Red River hockey and dont even know who hockeyrr is, which would make it foolish of me to "stand up for him". Sorry for voicing my opinion on what I saw, I thought thats what this forum was for.
