  1. Hey guys, looks like we have someone with two Alias's.
  2. I've said it once and I'll say it again. The referees don't decide the outcome of the game. I don't specifically remember the last 3 minutes, but was Central on the power play in the last 3 minutes? Even if they were, South had successfully killed off the Central power plays previous to the last 3 minutes. Did the refs let in 2 weak goals in 47 seconds? People use referees as excuses for teams choking in big games. That's all there is to it.
  3. If you happen to have a copy of the 2004 ND state hockey finals, between GFC and South. Watch the last 3 minutes of that film. A well fought game by both teams, then the officials got alittle chesty and took it out of the kids hands.
  4. I don't have a problem with a little poor grammer, but guys come on. I can hardly tell what you guys are saying. Also, I hope your kidding when you said referres can't help determine the outcome of a game Aren't you alittle young to be on the computer?
  5. Those are big margins considering that one line did all the scoring!
  6. Tough to be considered the best team in the state when you only have one line that can score.
  7. I'd have to agree except, West fargo and Shanley. Both teams are Very, Very weak. Neither has a respectable goaltender. Both have weak defensemen. Both have poor depth at forward. The reason shanley will probably win is because of coaching, year in and year out they the strongest coaching staff in the state. Should be the same story with Pivetz in his 2nd year.
  8. The rankings are alittle weak, but not as weak as your last comment. First of all comparing peewee's to high school is a joke. I also believe a certian mario lamaroux carried those teams anyway.
  9. from previous post: Red River is right where they belong? Behind Jamestown? Are you kidding me? Jamestown? And Central should be much lower as well. They lost their entire team from last year (And for those who do not believe that Marto wasn't their entrie team, they might not have made it to state last year, let alone reach the championship game without him). Red River, on the other hand, returns their leading scorer, Marc "10-Bears" Mihulka, who I have heard as been tearing up the Elite league this fall and should be a sleeper pick for Mr. Hockey. However, preseason rankings do not matter, but when the boys from the south side of GF see this poll this will get them even more fired up to defend their 2004-2005 State Championship. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  10. Thanks for clarifying the situation with that lesson in history. Siouxfan3 must be carrying a chip for a long time because the last time a Grand Forks Bantam team went to Tier II Nationals was in 2002 - long time to hold a grudge and ignore current activities by the selects. Like I said there are a number of Williston kids on the 92, 91 etc district select teams. It was also a cheap shot for him to specifically name and criticize two current select team members. Easy to hide behind a screen name and run down other people. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  11. I think what your refering to is when one of the grandforks bantam A teams made the national tournement they had to miss select tryouts to attend the tournament. The people on the north dakota amatuer hockey board decided it would be fair to allow them to tryout. They would pick the top ten players and they would make the team flat out. The next number of bubble players, how ever many they felt were worthy, would then have to tryout with the players that were unable to attend the tryouts due to earning a spot at the U14 National tournament. I think now that siouxfan3 knows this we won't have to worry about him/her rant and rave over how unfair selects is. On the other hand since he/she probably was cut, do to lack of ability he will continue to blame others for his misfortunes.
  12. Grievences 1. no one can be fresh for six minutes 2. North was weak last year, even by thier standards. 3. irmen and potunly were sophmores (very very good sophmores but still sophmores.) 4. Walski was hot, he played out of his mind. ( okland could do the same but thats asking alot.) 5. please give me a reason on why one of norths top two forwards would play defence on the penalty kill? is that or isn't one of the most ridiculous ideas you've ever heard. 6. okland won't being playing for north anyway, so we can probably stop talking about him as a member of that team. 7. rolling two lines is a poor idea, but yes they do need a workout program.
  13. On the other side to that, I think north goes from outhouse to penthouse if okland plays. They go from vying for that 4th spot to having an decent chance at getting to the EDC championchip, Hes proven before that he can take games out of the kids hands. He was the top rated goaltender at the select 17 festival, in closing it all rests on his shoulders norths fate is in his hands.
  14. Well said, i like what your saying for the most part. Okland is a great goaltender. Also i'm not trying to imply that north is any where near wahpeton, but when you said they averaged 37 shots agianst you have to take in to consideration there very weak non confrence competition an interesting statistic would be the average shots agiast put on by the four east teams that made it to state. After all that i'm saying that it wouldn't be unfathenable for a team like south or gpr to put up 40 shots. 50 shots is a stretch even with norths depth. I could see 35-40 with a majority of those coming when norths top line isn't on the ice. please don't come back with well north will roll two lines, because that would only make things worse for the spartens of north. Thier first line wouldn't be nearly as productive (17 min periods). No D is a very big problem, look for it late in the game when the first unit isn't out there and norths behind. Also Nate Mikelberg maybe alittle rusty as he saw little to no action with his team last year. In closing, im sure klien could play d on the powerplay but let's be honest, he won't.
