  1. So are you saying he was right in saying they don't recruit but rather shoot fish in a barrel? If that were the case every kid they offer would commit on the spot.

Nope, all I was saying is Timmerman isn't a homer for NDSU.

  2. bull$%!#. You think Bohl flies all over the place for fun? He recruits his ass off. If they chose who they wanted they would have Mollberg Stockwell Edwards and many others on their team. It's the mighty myth of the mighty byzun. They are very good right now but c'mon you're going to believe everything those homers say?

Pretty sure it was Timmerman who said it and he is far from an NDSU homer.

  3. Jail the bison

    Jail the bison

Jail the biiiison down in Cass

    Coaches speeding, players pleading

Jail the biiiison down in Cass

Another good one, coaches speeding, players pleading! Goon, other than the article posted, I've got nothing but he was caught with them. Were the charges dropped, yes, but that doesn't change the fact that he had them. Maybe they weren't his, just holding them for a friend.........Keep them coming boys, good stuff! If you can't laugh at yourself, then who can you laugh at, right?

  4. Jail the bison

    Jail the bison

Jail the biiiison down in Cass

    Narcotic dealers, street sign stealers

Jail the biiiison down in Cass.

Or perhaps "steroid users, girlfriend abusers." But maybe we shouldn't poke fun at abuse

Not too bad boys but let's not mix NDSU players up with yours, OK? Thanks and enjoy the upcoming season.

  5. Nice way to dance around it by pigeon holing it to only Patty V. Weak. Of course she isn't going to say it, she never says anything.

Several media members, including your own, and SIU coach Dale Lennon have said it. That is multiple people who work in the league and are the media for the league that are trying to put it out there for people to believe.

    http://m.thesouthern...19bb2963f4.html

83, first off, thank you for the link. My guess is Dale is responding to a question asked of him about the SEC and MVFC but he went with it. Second, go back and read my post, you might see where I bring up the media and fans. Oh well, maybe instead of pointing the finger at me, you should be more clear in how you state things. For example, MVFC fans and media say they are just like the SEC rather than the MVFC says........see what I'm getting at? That's the only reason I brought Patty up becasue your statement points the finger at the conference. Hey, no big deal. Good luck against CP.

  6. The other comment I love is how the MVFC calls themselves the "SEC of FCS"....

That's interesting 83, care to share a link where anyone from the MVFC has said what is quoted above since I haven't seen it. Now if you said some fans or even media said that then I wouldn't be surprised at all but since you said the MVFC calls themselves the SEC of FCS, well then I'd like to read where Patti V or someone else with the conference said it. I don't think MVFC is like the SEC. I would say right now it appears the conference is pretty good but it's still early in the season.

  7. Wow, win a couple of Scummit league games and all of a sudden, your boys don't need to practice?

    Can you say "Overconfidence"?

That's fine, you can call it what you like but have you looked at the Sagarin conference rankings? If the Summit is as you say, what does that make the Big Sky and Great West? Actually ranking don't mean much in a game like this, a lot of things can happen and I'm sure WYO was just messing around, no reason to go all message board serious on what he said. Since we are talking Sagarin rankings, quite the difference between NDSU and UND there too, almost 200 spots. But as they say, that's why they play the games, I'm sure it will be a fun one to be at for those who can make it. As for overconfidence, I don't think the game is hanging on what one fan in WY says on a message board, now if Saul had come out and said we don't need to stinkin' practice for the Sioux you might have a point, but since he hasn't might I suggest you calm down a bit. Hey WYO nice seeing you in Frisco, hope you enjoyed the GB Nordeast.

  8. I guess I don't see why UND fans would not want to keep playing for the Nickel when the teams play again in the regular season. I read a lot about how Sioux fans are going to continue to wear Sioux stuff so wouldn't this keep a small part of your tradition alive? I mean it's a coin with two images on it, last I checked there are still US coins with Native American images on them being used. I don't think the agreement with the NCAA says anything about it, so game on I say. Now if the teams were to play in the post season, then I agree, it stays with the last team that won it in regular season play just like in the DII days. Just my five cents, take it or leave it I guess.

  9. The same way that the Tennessee Oilers became a brand new team when they changed their name to the Tennessee Titans. Yeah, it was the same franchise... same players, same coaches, same city. But they redefined their franchise with a new identity, forever leaving the Oilers relegated to oblivion.

Anybody who thinks it'll be the same thing after a name change obviously never cared that much about the name to begin with.

I'm sorry but I just have to ask this simple question Dave, do you like the name more than the university itself? I mean the stuff you come up with is beyond me but UND is still going to be UND. The teams will be the same, play in the same city or are they moving to Grafton and changing the name to the Spuds? If that's the case, then you might be onto something, if not, well then best of luck to you.

  10. Oh come on guys, I get it, this is a Sioux board but let's not forget who offered an every other year deal. Yes, it was Gene Taylor and UND said no. Now UND and their fans seem to understand the every other year offer since you're in a conference with more than four other teams. Oh and for the record, I could care less as well but damn it would be fun. I, like most Nodaks have good friends who support both schools and back in the day it was one big party leading up to the game. Lots of trash talk, but all in good fun. In fact I'm willing to bet that if you took most Bison and Sioux fans from these boards and put them next to each other at a tailgate everyone, well minus a few select posters on both sides, would have a blast. Sorry to bust up your Gene bashing fest, please feel free to continue.

  11. They (Hockey Team) will always be Sioux to me

Honest question, what makes the Sioux hockey team any more Fighting Sioux than any other team on campus? If I were a player or former player from any other sport at UND I'd take a bit of offense to that, it's not like those teams are any less UND.

  12. The owners of the local BWW franchises, along with a few subway franchises are UND people I believe. I think it is Todd LaHaise and his wife that are the owners. As far as where to go before the games, it's probably a matter of pick your poison as both BWW north and Labby's will be full of either obnoxious drunk belligerent bison fans all pissed up and pissed off after a bison football loss or obnoxious drunk belligernet bison fans all jacked up after a bison football win.

I'll take what's behind door number two. Where are you going to watch the football game Petey23?

  13. Too late for what? I never stated that UND shouldn't go division I...What I'm stating is to quit trying to schedule with NDSU because people don't really give a !@#$...Lastly, we already schedule more games against minnesota every year than you do... :glare: So what's your point again????

    BobIwabuchiFan

Really? NDSU played Minnesota in basketball, wrestling, volleyball, baseball and soccer just off the top of my head. What does UND play the UofM in other than hockey? Not that it matters much but I'm sure UND will schedule MN in other sports once the whole Sioux name gets figured out which is pure BS but it is what it is.

I think people do give a !@#$ but nothing is going to happen until someone picks up the phone and says let's work something out and get some games scheduled in any sport. It only makes sense for both schools to play in baseball, softball, volleyball and even basketball. I'd much rather watch a Bison-Sioux basketball game than any school from the DAC or NSIC and I'm sure most here would agree with that as well. Football will be harder but that will get done too, maybe not every year but I think it will happen down the road.

  14. Should be a very fun game to watch, lots of offense I'm guessing. I caught a little bit of the Cal Poly vs. Southern Utah game a few weeks ago and there wasn't a lot of defense to talk about. Keep an eye on the sophomore WR from SUU, I believe his name is Pootz (sp). He was a McDonald's All-American in basketball and the kid can play, he had something like 14 catches. Good luck this week.

  15. Warner will get his yards...he gashed NDSU too...have to gang tackle and not let him go all the way.

Warner is a good back, he had 73 yards on 14 carries against the Bison by the way.

  16. I look forward to the days ahead when football is a tough ticket to get. And I'll be willing to shell out the $$$ needed. But during the transition, someone-(marketing department, ticket manager, I dont' know...) needs to work at selling out the Al. First, they should make tickets hassle free to get. Last week, I couldn't get to the Al between 10 and 4, and I refuse to pay Ticketmaster over half of the price of a ticket in order to buy a ticket ($8.50 on a $15.50 ticket.) So we got them at the game. But how about some promotions? Have they had $10 Tuesdays like they used to? Or specials for families or something.

Well if you are really looking for a hassle free way to get tickets might I suggest getting season tickets, just a thought.

  17. Got a quick question since ya'll are talking about the roster and what not. Was wondering if anyone knew where Brock Setness went to ? I think he was either a RFr or a Fr QB. I saw him last year at a family reunion and he's like my 3rd cousin or something. I was just curious. Good luck to the Sioux this year. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys play some new teams in a new conference.

It is my understanding that Brock left the team last spring but I believe he is still a student at UND.

  18. Why always so negative....?

Last year we had 125 Golfers at the Bison Open Scramble at the Grand Forks Country Club.....They are genuine guys, both Gene and Craig

Thanks Walrus. Are you going to be at the GFCC on Monday to welcome us back? Looking forward to my trip up to GF, always enjoy the CC. There were a hand full of Sioux fans out there last year, not many but a few, good time had by all.

  19. So now we don't have to follow the Bison to the Midcon or what ever they call that BBall conference they are in. Does the Great West have an automatic bid to the 64 tournament??

Yeah, that would be The Summit League and no you don't have to follow the Bison now that you've got The Great West. As for an automatic bid, I believe you are looking at about a 13 year wait for a new conference, but at least you didn't have to follow the Bison. :D
