  1. i have seen just three sioux games this season, 2 in person, one on tv and in all 3 the sioux have been called for a checking from behind penatly. 2 of the 3 should not, in anyway, have been a checking from behind penalty. yes, the players safety needs to be looked out for, but having a guy tossed for a, questionable at best, call is ridiculous.

  2. I'm pretty sure i am talking about the Bulldogs goalie's. my girlfriend went to UMD last year and i saw about 6 games....they looked awful in every game i saw. and yes, they did get to the frozen four two years ago, but they also scored 4-6 goals a game.

  3. havent heard, but it doesnt look good with the tender they got coming in next year, however, the guys they got there are terrible right now, so who knows.

  4. I think that the big point was that  the Sioux would have 2 of the top 5 picks in one draft, rather than from different drafts.  Also,  Wheeler was not a top five talent, unlike the other three mentioned IMHO.

Say what you want to say about Wheeler not being a top 5 talent, but when the Great One decides to draft you at that position, that sure says a hell of a lot right there in itself.

  5. Dont forget we have to good goaltenders in Parise and Lamoureax. Parise played fantastic at the end of last year, and I expect Lamoureax to make great strides this year and push Parise for the starting spot at the end of the year. It seemed to me that Lamoureax had a few freshman mistakes, but also it didnt seem like he got alot of support on the scoreboard in a bunch of his games. Should see good things from these too.

  6. Perhaps a dumb question but it makes me wonder if that with the huge recruiting class of 4 years ago and now this year, are we going to see huge freshman #'s every four years or is Hak going to be able to start balancing out the classes?

I would expect with the talent of this group of freshman that there will be some defections to the NHL after a few years which will lower the large number by a few, but there will still be one year where there is a large class. Looking at next year, you are looking at 2-3 seniors saying goodbye, and maybe Stafford and Zajac, Smaby. So that class will be small compared to this year, hopefully Hak can get the best talent in to fill those voids. I think it is stupid to expect to go through recruiting looking to fill 6- spots every year, its just not going to happen, it just something you have to deal with. But just imagine this group in a year or two, with Lamoreaux a more experienced junior or senior. Good things to come.

  7. I would be willing to say that Marvin will be getting more ice time a Defense next year than forward, due to the relative inexperience of more than 2 deep at Defense. Hopefully Bina will be healthy and be able to play to add more stability to the D-line.

  8. The only real knock against Lee is his conservative play it big games. In HS he would look incredible against weaker teams, then seemed to regress against quality teams. The ability is always there, I think he just worries too much about getting scored on. The kid is too humble - if you've ever spoken to him or heard him speak, he hates all the attention he's gotten. Maybe they should have him talk to that Street kid WI just signed - he can teach him how to be an arrogant prick

I think he will be ok once he takes some pressure off of himself. Once he gets to UND and realizes there are several other players with his talent I think he will do just that.

I have see lee play just one time this year live, and it was in Moorhead against Bloomington Jefferson. Coming into the game, all i ever heard was hype about how great this kid is. When i saw him play, i wasnt overly impressed, here are my thoughts. The kid has great poise in the defensive zone when he has the puck, and is looking to break out and get it moving up ice. He also took control of the puck in the offensive zone a few times, and looks very comfortable there, and has a great, quick wrister from the blue line. the biggest knock that i saw was that he gave to little attention to his man in the defensive zone. When jefferson was coming down on him one on one, or two on two, his guy seemed to always beat him, and its not like Lee didnt have the position, he just seemed to believe that if they got around him, he could make up for it. It jsut seemed that he needed to make more things happen at this blue line and not sink so far into the zone.

Watching the state tourney on tv, he got beat a few times in the same way against holy angels, and they both wound up as goals. I just think he needs to be more aggressive at the blue line, and there is no doubt that the Sioux coaches will take care of that. should be a great d-man by the end of his college career, just needs some work on his defense right away.
