  1. Jeff Dubay of the PA & Dubay Show. It's a sports radio show on KFAN, 1440 AM in Grand Forks. Puffy is a Gopher hockey rube.

    He hates UND. ???

I don't get why people think that Dubay is such of gopher homer. If Sid is a 10 on the Homer scale, Puffy is about a four. He'll tell you when the gophs are sucking it up. He'll also give tons of credit to UND when credit is due. And unlike Sid, Puffy won't predict a gopher sweep for this coming weekend. Unless the gophers play their best game of the year tonight, I can almost guarantee that Dubay will say that the gophers will be lucky to come away with one point next weekend.

  2. Was buzzing around Fargo this morning when I caught "Beyond the Pond" with Puffy and his crew. Puffy said there was not much of chance that UND could get to the Frozen Four this year. ??? He figured UND would be a 2, possibly a 3 seed in the big tourney. JPL is ok, not great, in net and not getting enough from Osh and Dunc. Also thought Duncan made a mistake coming back this year. But his Fluffiness thought that the Gophs still could get home ice for the first round of the WCHA? I must admit I caught bits and pieces, but it was obvious he thought after the 2 Colorado schools, everyone else was pretty close in the league. Did anybody else catch this??

I'm surprised by the Puffs take on the Sioux. Usually he has nothing but love for the Green and White. Also surprised by his take on the goofs securing home ice. Seems that he's been down on them all year, and looking ahead in their schedule; UW tonight, UND at home, DU on the road, and Wisco back home...that's not an easy schedule for any team, especially for a team that's not on top of their game.

Dubay can say what he wants about JPL, but I'm pretty sure that he'd trade Kangas and Frazee for him.

  3. What's funny is that last year Duncan scored most of his goals from his offside. Moving him over sure makes sense to me.

I always thought that the right side was Duncan's side. His "spot" has definitely been from the right side. He never misses from his "spot." I'm calling Shenanigans that Duncs side is the left side. You must be talking about the goalies left side :silly:

  4. Sorry, but as screwy as this sounds, Derek is no longer even close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of WCHA officiating.

He can't set the precedent for suspending officials because if he did, then it would reflect poorly on him. He's the one in charge, not Schmidt or Anderson.

The problem is that officials aren't held to be accountable for their own improvement and development. The league is also the problem because they have a faulty development system that stalls out officials rather than improves them. After the Bina catastrophe, McLeod thought that the problem was that there wasn't a full time head of officiating to oversee the officials. That's true enough, but hiring Greg Shepherd into the position full time was like hiring a pyromaniac to be the fire chief.

I think the "barrel" when it comes to refs from the WCHA, is a very shallow one. It's probably more of kids wading pool than a barrel.

  5. Haven't had the misfortune of listening to Dakota Huseby yet...can I get her signal in Fargo? She kind of sounds like Sandy Buttweiler (sp) to me (local 790, maybe 970 in Fargo host). She actually hosts a "round table" discussion with Jack Sandy. If there's one person who in unqualified to host a round table discussion, it's her. "What's your favorite part of a BLT?" should not be round table discussion. I can't change the station fast enough when she's on. I was on the road a couple of years ago, Sandy's program came on and I was having trouble with my car radio: couldn't turn the station, couldn't turn it off, and when I tried to turn down the volume it only got louder...anyways, I was faced with the decision of turning into a bridge enbunkment, or listening to Sandy's show.

  6. Tell me what's the difference whether you run out on your team or pull a major boner like this? Oshie is not a kid he's 21 years old that makes him a man, he figures he's old enough to drink he better figure it out he old enough to suffer the consequences. Maybe they will give him speedy due process and he will face the courts before the season is over this time.

Maybe he gets 30 to 60 days in the clink, tell how he's going to help his team now. Everyone has to be reponsible for their own actions.

    I thought I could browse through all of the "oshie suspended" posts without actually feeling the urge to give my two cents... I don't mean to pick on sioupermex, it just happened that I couldn't go on after reading his post without giving my opinion;

1st of all, please don't try to compare Okposo's leaving to Oshie's arrest. Not even in the same category. To compare the two is asinine. Secondly, (unless it's covered later on in this thread), we don't even know what he was arrested for. A disorderly conduct could be any number of things. Sometimes (believe me), the cops may arrest you when you have done nothing wrong. So to call it major boner before we know the facts is going a little overboard. If he were to have gotten a DUI, that'd be a different story.

Do you seriously expect Oshie to go back to his apt after the games and go to bed. Of course he's going to party a little bit. BFD.

  7. I have lttle respect for players that bail on their teammates during the season. I have no respect for Greico for doing this to UND and I have no respect for Okposo for leaving Minnesota.

Once a player commits to coming back he should stick it out for the entire season. If the Gophers were were 10-2, leading the WCHA and ranked #1 would he have left ? I highly doubt it...that tells me all I need know about his character. There is no way I would want him as my teammate.

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going...to the NHL.

I'm on the fence about Greico...realistically, how much playing time was he going to get this year, or next year, or the year after (If he would have been one of three goalies on the roster instead of two, that'd be a different story). I don't think Okposo's leaving can be compared at all to Greico leaving. Greico needs to get time between the posts to move on to the next level...Okposo had to sign on the dotted line to move on to the next level. Let's face it, most of UND's and UMtc players didn't sign on with their teams to get a free education.

LMO...I was right clicking to get rid of the red line under Okposo's name, and the word from the dictionary my right clicker magic speller thingy came up with was "stinkpot."

  8. Holy Crap! I can't believe how many people have become infected by the PC disease (pretty soon I suppose we won't keep track of the score and just play for fun). Big deal if the PA announcer brought up Holy Cross. If it were up to me, before Friday's game, during the usual video montage, I would have rolled down a 50' screen right behind Lammy's goal (so that the gopher's players could see it), and would have shown the highlights from the HC vs. UMTC game;)

  9. I thought it was funny, there are a few that think IT LACKED CLASS. Funny, funny...

Apparently there are a few other thin skinned people that got their butts all chapped about the Basketball coach calling the Gophers the Goofs.

Other things that lack class...jersey popping.

I could hear the PA announcer on TV announce that Holy Cross was off for the night (I definitely laughed). Not sure if it was the Woog or Maz, but one or the other commented something about not taking enjoyment out of other's misfortunes. Would have preferred to have watched the Fighting Sioux SN, but compared to the clowns that do the Wisco games, Woogy and the Maz aren't too bad.

  10. OK I just called & was told it would cost me another $990 to get in the next level "Coaches Club" to get a parking pass - am I the only one who thinks this is ridicules - & the lots are less than 1/2 full :silly::D

    Bah Humbug

For that much money you could get door to door taxi cab service from your car to the Ralph (and back) for the season, and probably a "happy ending" with each ride;)

  11. Who do you call to find out about a parking place at the Ralph ?

Anyone else notice how many open parking spots there are there

I believe it has to do with Club level - but if there are that many not being used why don't they try something else ?

I'm pretty sure a "parking pass" will cost you about $500. Actually I'm not really sure how much $$$, I did happen to see the prices for all of the different levels of season tickets a couple of weeks ago, but I don't remember how much$$$. What I do know is that they probably wont just sell/rent/lease you a spot. I think there'd be too many pissed off club level ticket holders if they found out the Ralph was having a sale on empty parking spots. You'll probably just have to hoof it like the rest of us poor fans;)

  12. Yeah, too bad I couldn't have the radio on (seven second delay with the TV) instead of the homers that were covering the game on FSN. Don't remember the older guys name, but he refused to pronunciate Vande's name correctly. His partner could say it, the guy on the PA at the Kohl could say it, but this guy kept on saying VandeVeld. Also, couldn't make up his mind if it was Jenoway, of Genoway. Almost prefer the Maz and Wooger. Also, Props to the guys/gals that do the home games for FSSN. It's amazing what a good job they do at producing the games.

And of course, another thumbs down for Derek Shepard for his typical two nights of reffing. When will the insanity end?

Strike what I said about almost preferring the Maz and Woog to the Badgers announcers on FSN. Just got a chance to see the youtube video (btw, was that a recording of the TV screen?), I must have switched on the radio when the "fight" started. The one guy from FSN is almost as big of a Sid as Sid.

  13. I do have to call it a charge. Although the Kozek's charging penalty looked pretty clean to me. I think Rylan takes about four strides into the scrum. He went for the wrecking ball effect. He wasn't trying to hurt anybody. He wanted to rock the player and rock the scrum in order to kick the puck loose.

Come on, Shepard was standing 5 feet away when he called it, it had to have been a charge

  14. I listened to the announcers on FSN and I thought they were very complimentary to our team and program. NOTHING like the Goof's homers! As others also noticed, the young guy had a definite man crush on Oshie!

Oh yeah, they were definitely complimentary. They'd probably be the first two to admit that the Badgers were lucky to walk away with two points for the weekend.

  15. TH is awesome, kind of a homer, but I love the dude.
