  1. How many Sioux fans are planning on making the trip to Cedar Falls, IA? My buddy and I just bought tickets today in the Sioux section, but I was trying to get a rough guess on how many Sioux fans we should expect to see down there. Also, UND is having a pre-game party from 12pm-4pm on Saturday, anyone plan on going to that?

  2. Last year was last year and yes they beat us 51-6...but again that was last by year and any thing can happen..just look UwL beat sdsu 17-3 yesterday.. and all i am sayin it will be a good game thats all also wsu is a better team this year than last year so dont count out wsu just yet on the UND game...cuz if u over look team u can lose to them no matter who the team is...I feel the UND vs will be close game....

I was at the game last year in Winona, there was so much hype around that game...From WSU retiring a football team or celebrating its greatest football players, to walking past fans of Winona saying that they would finally get the chance to show how good they really are by playing a quality team at home. None of it happend and the stadium was 1/2 empty at halftime.

To get to my point, Winona may have a good team, but they haven't had nearly the same amount of publicity in newspapers, online sites, and polls around the country. They are not a better team than last year based on those accounts. Also, comparing the SDSU/Wisc.-Lacrosse game to a potential upset of UND by WSU has no merit at all in this discussion.

  3. There's no way that Porter and Fabian won't be our captain and alternate captain. They are our leaders on the ice and lead by example. They will do so again this year like they did last year. The second alternate captain could be a toss-up between a few guys I believe. Here's my choices:

    C - Porter

    A - Fabian

    A - Bina/Oshie/Kaip

  4. Just my 2 Cents Here.....You forgot to mention the other article mentioned in posts #283 and #285 that was written by an outsider that has a doctorate degree from the U. of Cincinatti and another college. The author who wrote the article lives in Moorhead, MN. Or are we not questioning the validity of that article? Because that article appears to be pretty objective when I read it. Whatever article you read, it doesn't paint a very pleasant picture for NDSU President Chapman or our entire North Dakota University System in either one.

  5. I'm not to firmilar with the NTDP, but will Kristo be on the team that the Sioux play Dec 1st at the Ralph?

There's 2 teams that are with the NTDP, one is U-18, and the other is U-17. I would assume that this guy will be playing on the U-17 team and, therefore, won't be playing against the Sioux this year since we play the U-18 team.

  6. very classy.

    -IowaBison-

You should think of your post above whenever a Bison faithful says something negative/flammatory/disrespectful about Sioux athletics on this website, Siouxsports.com, and remind them each and everytime how classy they really are for all of us here on Siouxsports.com

  7. Yeah your right, UC Davis beat the Bison by a touchdown last year after the Bison beat Davis by 20 some points the year before. And Stanford was 4-4 in the Pac-10 last year(Possibly the toughest conference in the country) while the Gophers were 3-5 in the Big Ten. That comparision isn't even close.

DaveK, perhaps you should stay in the hockey portion of this site. You don't appear to be paying much attention to any other sport.

I don't know if you would should go calling the Pac-10 conference the toughest conference in college football, that might be a stretch. The SEC might want to argue with you on that one a little bit. Besides, comparing one team's conference record with another is not a legitimate arguement since they have no common opponents.

The point was made earlier that the Gophers can be a dangerous team, even when their record might not indicate it. They beat Purdue early in the year when Purdue was ranked #11 and won at Michigan(#21). The only team that Stanford beat of any significance was Navy in the first game of the year. Navy ended up going to a bowl game, but I don't think I would be comparing Navy to Michigan or Purdue. All of Stanford's conference victories came against teams below them in the standings. If you watched the Gophers at all last year, you could tell they had some talent and a respectable team. Not a BCS championship team, but they were competitive with the likes of Ohio State and Wisconsin. Stanford cannot say the same thing.

I hope the game is competitive, but I can't see the game being closer than maybe 17-21 points. That would be a victory in itself for NDSU.

  8. Oh BS.

Everything and anything that is UND is hockey.

If the entire athletic department could be dropped, save men's ice hockey, the majority of UND fans would vote yes and not think twice.

Everything and anything that is NDSU is football

Random Question/Thought....If the entire NDSU athletic department could be dropped, save football, would the majority of NDSU fans would vote yes and not think twice?

The answer to my question posed to you would be an emphatic "yes".

I think your so-called vision of UND athletics might be a little off kilter, whether it be because of being on this website where the majority of the posters I would say follow hockey more closely than football or just for plain simple lack of knowledge of the people that follow each program. Regardless, in no way would the majority of fans vote to drop football or either basketball program to save men's hockey I believe becuase of the sheer number of followers each program has.

  9. Reading more carefully, his grade is an 8.0 D, where the 8 means:

8 - First line forward / No. 2 defenseman / No. 1 goaltender -- players with definite skill that might be just a cut below elite status, but still possessing All-Star potential. Think Patrik Elias, Keith Tkachuk, Mattias Ohlund, Adam Foote, Sean Burke, Olaf Kolzig.

I'd say if Oshie developed into any one of those forwards, his career will be long and successful.

The D stands for the realistic probability of that player reaches his potential:

D - Unlikely to reach potential, could drop 3 ratings - a player who has a chance to reach his potential but is unlikely to do so. The potential rating is multiplied by 70 percent for depth chart purposes, indicating that the player

  10. To all the people that are feeling bad for the students that didnt get tickets. I just want to make you aware that the last person who received a ticket showed up at the hyslop at 5am, that is 1hr before the tickets were distributed. If you really want a ticket, maybe you should get yourself a tent and sit outside like everyone else did. Quit bitching about people not getting tickets.

Show a little more respect when you post on here, especially when you are a newbie. Nobody is feeling sorry for them, most of us on here are pissed off about the people selling their tickets online to make a quick buck or 2. I'm pissed off too. I waited outside since 4pm the day before. Luckily these 2 guys didn't effect me, but the other people have a right to be mad, and deservedly so. There's better ways to make money in my opinion. That's what most people on here are saying.

  11. Hi,

I was looking through posts but wasn't able to find out where the UND section is at the Bradley Center for the Charter? Also, some have suggested I would be able to move to the UND section from wherever my seats are but I am not sure I understand how that would be possible. Has anyone done this before and where would me and the others with me sit if we did that?

Thanks and sorry for the goofy questions!!

    GO SIOUX!!

The UND sections are 218 and 219 in the lower bowl, I don't know if there are any in the upper bowl. We only received 600 tickets. As far as moving down or getting into the section, a miracle I would say. Tickets were VERY hard to come by, I had to wait outside for them so my guess is you are out of luck for sitting with the UND section and are lucky just to have a seat in the buliding.

  12. Just to update you all on the Sioux Crew members.... Their tickets are for the lower bowl (section 218 I think), and they're right on the glass... Any Sioux Crew members with tickets who can confirm this?? I'm pretty sure it's true though, I saw someone's tickets, and am way jealous!!

    GO SIOUX!!!

We're in Section 218 and 219, right in the corner of the arena. We got the 1st 4 rows of tickets in each section. The tickets we received are too good to be true. We better have that section rockin on Thursday. Well worth the 14 hours my buddies and I camped outside to get them.

  13. Just got my tickets from Sioux Crew....I got out there at 4pm yesterday and I was #22 in line this morning when I got my tickets. I'm in Sec. 219, Row B. The Sioux Crew is in the 1st 4 rows of Sec. 218 and 219. Apparently Hakstol wanted us as close to the ice as possible for motivation and leading the cheers. Start the countdown for the road trip!

7 Days, 4 hours, 33 minutes til We Leave

8 Days, 3 hours, 33 minutes til game time

Oh yea, Hak showed up last night around 10pm or so, said he was really proud that we were standing out here, showing the pride and enthusiasm for the hockey team and UND as a whole. Thanked us for toughing it out and said "we're gonna go get two in WI for you guys." Really cool that he showed up, he took pictures with all of us and they gave us dilly bars as a snack...Great Guy.

  14. Are you joking? The last two Final Five Title games did not involve the Gophers and the arena was packed for both of those games. How about 16,000 people attending the UMD, St. Cloud play in game this year? That doesn't qualify as Gopher fans attending non Gopher games? In 2000, the regional was at Mariucci and the gophers were not there and the attendance was over 8,000 people, about the same crowd as UND had at the Ralph(8,300) on Friday against Mankato two weeks ago.

Nice try though. Minnesota hockey fans are as true as they come.

Not tryin to nit-pick here or anything, but comparing the 2000 regional at Mariucci when Minnesota wasn't there to the Friday Night 1st round playoff game against Mankato is a poor comparison. It was spring break for students, so I think REA was probably satisfied with the number of people the got for the timing of the playoffs. Missing a population of 13,000 students(with probably at least 1500+ students coming to the game) drastically changes the outlook of an attendance figure.

  15. Yes, that'd be great...cause what everyone is really hoping for is a bunch of NCAA violations. Seriously, next time think...then post.

I don't think there would be any NCAA violations sice according to Southpaws post it was setup so you would receive the money after you graduate or play 4 years at UND. Therefore, it's not illegal(looking at it that way) if UND could potentially(not realistic and/or fathomable) have a unofficial trust fund as stated in the previous post.

  16. How do you know that already?

In all the series' that go to a deciding Game 3, the WCHA switches the officiating crew to make it unbiased, or as possible as it can be. Therefore we won't see Shepherd tomorrow night either.
