Roland originally started out as a running back at UND then he moved to the stong safety position i guess he didnt like the situation at the running back position at that time then when some people got hurt he switched back to running back because the Sioux were hurting and needed somebody to run the football. Namely when Riza Mahmoud was having some school probs.

That is a good point siouxfb he did sit out his entire first year with a very strange back injury. I think that who ever was dogging Rohde was just trying to give him a little shot with nothing bad intended if they were that is uncalled for.

I have to disagree with you on that point. I watch Digger play and he is consistantly being cut or chipped or whatever. Believe me every Offensive coach that UND plays knows where Digger is on every play, even if he is on the sideline standing next to the coachs on one of his five plays off a game. The kid also battles through injuries with the best of them. Did anybody watch him during the Pitt State game this year he couldnt even bend his legs. Constantly having to be helped up after just making a play. He is heads and shoulders above every other LB in the NCC.

I too like the idea of Digger getting the award but lets be realistic. he maybe overall one of if not the best player in DII but the award has been given to a defensive player one time in its history (19 years). Along with that what about the HH older brother the John Heisman trophy. How many times has a defensive player won that award. 1 or 2 right, correct me if i am wrong please. Its all about how many TD's and yards you get during your career not how many tackles you get. I will say that if any Defensive player has any chance of getting the trophy it has to be Digger, like you said before the kid is amazing. Some of the plays he makes jumping over gaurds and makeing a tackle for a loss are unbelievable.

Outlaw i agree with you that the losses of roland and wisthoff will hurt the sioux team greatly. But after watching the entire season i was really impressed with the play of trent christiansen. i thought that he did great on goal line and short yardage situations when he and wisthoff were in the game at the same time. now maybe that was just cause wisthoff just made him look good but either way he got the job done. I am by no means saying that he will fill the shoes of david but it is a good start. another thing i agree with you about is that strouth will not be able to carry the brunt of the load next year, i feel like it will need to be a joint effort with somebody similar to what they did this year with he and roland, hopefully somebody will be able to step up. already cant wait for spring ball!!!
