Sorry if this has been discussed, I have not seen it.

Can anyone explain to me who is responsible for the MBB and WBB conference schedule? Is it the Summit league, or the Institutions themselves?

When looking I see that we have Home Women's game Wednesday vs NDSU, and Men's away game vs NDSU in Fargo same day, same time.

This continues through out most of the conference games for Summit Schools.

My observation is you are penalizing the fans base that are Basketball Fans, you need to choose Men or Women. How can I watch the Men's game on Midco or roadtrip, if I'm sitting at the Women's game at the Betty?  We use to have doubleheaders? This poor scheduling seems to be league wide. Just wondering if anyone knows why?

I know there are options, I can record, watch or follow on my hand held phone ect... but just seems to be not a good way to boost attendance or fan support.

The Summit League makes the schedule.  This setup is called Mirror Scheduling where the M & W play the same opponent every night, one at home while the other is away. This is the way it was done during our time in the Big Sky as well.  You probably didn't notice it the last two years of Summit play because with the odd number of teams the schedule got wonky at times.  The mirror schedule ensures that each school has a home game every week during league play.

  2. It will be interesting to see his response to the possibility of Kansas City leaving.  Missouri Valley is meeting next week I believe to decide on expansion.  Kolpack has tweeted out that UMKC basically has one foot out the door.

Going back to 9 teams is really going to stink for league play in basketball.  It would be nice if Fenton has a plan to stop the Summit from being a transient stop-gap league. That is probably unlikely given that none of his predecessors could keep the revolving door of the conference closed since its inception.

Considering the other sites under consideration (including the old med school) were within a stone's throw of the Memorial Union and/or walkable (in nice weather, at least) to full-service dining in Wilkerson, and the letter to the editor is about food service availability on campus, I'd say that the Gateway location is indeed remote.

The two Johns (i.e., Jimmy and Taco), though each within walking distance, aren't exactly going to be much more than occasional stops.  Unless people really, really like Oles.

Related but unrelated...the persistent lack of campus-adjacent dining, shopping, and entertainment options at UND is remarkable.  Two strips at REA that I would call moderately useful, at best (I'm guessing MidcoSports doesn't get much walk-up traffic), and Suite 49 has been shuttered over the years more than it has not.  Basically forces students to get in their cars and drive (or rely on buses/Ubers) for even the most mundane of tasks.  Maybe it's time to kick BNSF out of town, do some intense surface remediation, and develop some of that land to benefit campus.  And that would immediately save the tens of millions of $$$ slated for the 42nd St underpass.

I remember when the area where the strip malls on the Bronson Property were being developed, they talked about how it was going to be smaller "DinkyTown" like neighborhood.  In the end it became home to things like a Credit Union and an office of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  Unfortunate really, you'd think the right bars and/or restaraunts could do really well in that area, but apparently not.  My guess is the cost of operating on that property is too expensive for certain businesses.

  4. So, final attendance for the season comes in at 9,661.  That's the highest average for the season since 2017, not coincidentally which also was a season after winning a conference title.  NDSU game was obviously the highest attended game of the year, and was the first sell out at the Alerus since 2017 against Montana St.

Offensively, We can run the ball, the o line is better than we think it is .

Let's see if they can run the ball two straight weeks before making that claim...............

It seems to me the loss of the 3 Offensive lineman from last season has been devastating so far.

i guess i meant holm at the end....cost us what 25 yards.......

Plenty of blame to go around, but man, it's been a long time since we've had a good kicker.  I'm not supremely confident in Stage making that last kick either,  and Stevens was 20 yards wide of the goal posts.  It wasn't close at all.

There were a lot of things that could have been done differently today from all phases to avoid the game coming down to a 48 yarder from the backup kicker.

On the other hand, if the kicker could have converted the two that were less than 40, he wouldn't have been in that position at the end of the game.

    This game.

    Long of 11.

    15 attempts.

    58 yards.

You wanna rush for a 100 yards you need to break one for 40+ yards or at least have two 20+ers.

I think we may need to accept the possibility that Weah's breakout season last year was perhaps mostly the product of exceptional Offensive Line play last season.

North Dakota's O-Line has been largely inept this year against Utah St, NDSU, and USD.

Here is my armchair Quarterback take on the lack of a successful deep passing attack.

25% - Due to Tommy's arm.  He doesn't have a cannon but we saw him hit a guy in stride last year with the ball traveling 46-47 yards in the air.  In the EWU game the other night their QB hit on a deep ball....I went back and watched it again and it traveled exactly 45 yards in the air.  I'm really not sure how often college completions actually travel more than 45-50 yards in the air?  I've been trying to pay more attention to when I see deep pass plays....how far in the air they actually travel.   I did see Tommy rifle a 10 yard pass in a super tight window on Saturday, it was a nice catch by Belquist I believe because it had some mustard on it.

50% - We don't have a burner who can get behind people

15% - I think Tommy doesn't want to throw a pick so if a guy only has 1-2 yards of separation he plays it safe and either throws it long or it's on the money, doesn't want to leave it short.  In the SU game on the one long pass the WR was open but two guys were converging and Tommy over threw it about 2 yards or so.  I think Tommy may lack the confidence that our WR's will go up and get the 50/50 deep ball so if coverage is tight he throws it long.

10% - Danny doesn't call the deep go route often.

You are right we don't have a burner.  This year we also don't have that Wanzek/Toivonen guy and that is really hurting. Maag should be that guy but seems to be battling injury.

Given the changes at WR and OL, this offense is it different than last season.......
