  1. I think that's stupid... why even bother? When was the last gun related violence on-campus? I guess I don't remember since I have been here, plus I just brought my shotgun right into the dorms anyways every single time I went hunting which was alot. I just took it apart and brought it right in. Why should I have to go take another 15 minutes to get my gun out of a gun locker at the UPD when I am already waking up way earlier than any college student should.. that's just me....

  2. I got my tickets luckily but most of the people I was around got screwed... my g/f is a sophmore and her and 5 of her soroity friends were on there resfreshing continously until they could submit their info... none got one... we called ticketmaster or the box office or whatever and they said sophmore level sold out in under a minute...

  3. This happens every year in the Devils Lake area. Last year or the year before someone from MPLS was caught by Minnewauken as well with way too many fish over the limit...

I am wiritng this post from the shores of devils lake as we speak... I am out here for a another walleye tourney (spirit lake tourney) and i assure you that there is a violent over-population of shore fisherman that are not from here at all times... and they are not from the area and hmong, every liscense plate from minnesota... mine is too don't get me wrong.. but its border line rdiculous and i can bet alot of money that 25 percent aren't paying a dang bit of attention to the regs...

  4. I went to spend the weekend with my girlfriend and we decided to go take a look or see what we could... it's definetly a sobering experience and even though you really can't see too much its hard to imagine. There is pretty much no area you can even get close yet and it's just a horrible scene around there.. we happened to be just about leaving when i saw a flatbed with an escort of cops comin up from the river... it had a chrystler mini-van that was fresh out of the river... needless to say whoever was in that car is no longer with us.. that was also really sobering becuase it looked as if the whole bridge had fallen on that car alone.. its a horrible thing and i think anybody who thinks its cool to blame politcians or blame this guy or that guy can suck it becuase maybe you needed to know some one or something that was there beucase there is really no space for pointing fingers in this tradegy... and i don't care about my spelling either... my prayers to the 8 who are still missing...

  5. I'm really excited for the season to start...I don't care who it is against. The night game will be interesting also, adds a bit of a new flavor. I can't remember ever attending a night Sioux football game. Back to the thread topic also...I will either be tailgating or at a Canad bar for this one. I hope the students and community come out in droves.

Not to give myself a bad image or anything like that... but i am very excited to drink alot... ps, the italian moon is cool, the alerus is cool... that fight a little ways back was intense

  6. I think everyone that doesn't think hak is a good coach should apply all of there ss.com skills and apply for the job... He's obviously been doing alot of things right or we would have been cleaning off our golf clubs instead of going to the frozen four or watching on tv.. Not only is he an extremely good coach but hes a great guy too every time I have talked to him or seen him hes very personable and always ready to ask and recieve questions about his team...

  7. except when you are a nhl assistant like dean was that first year, he dealt a lot with their minor league teams, that can get crazy...but a head coach, theres not much at all in the nhl, i remember him telling me that once before a coyotes game when the jackets were in town

    SIGN HAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

If they fire hakstol i am quitting college and i am a senior this year... even if the math doesnt quite work out thats too bad.. i dont want him to leave

  8. I'm thinking we take full advantage of:

    -Brad's Blog and the Herald

-The Ralph with any support they may provide

-The Dakota Student can perhaps mention it

    -Sioux Crew can promote it

-Lifetime Sports (where students purchase tickets)

-Student season tickets... last year they had a little meeting with us before they hand over our tickets

    Other ideas:

-handing out fliers at a previous series

-working with the Sioux Shop to help those that forget

Feel free to add to the list, or if any of you have any connections, feel free to volunteer to send someone an email or make a phone call :) I have some free time... at least for now...

If you can get it into just one piece of student literature to get the idea coming out of hardcore students fans' mouths... then word of mouh will play its part with the students... this is almost a gaurentee... "hey guys let's have a small game of beer pong at our house tonight" then 300 people show up... same concept but with excited students that are already pumped for the game.. Maybe its just me thinking how easily i could convince a large group of students and friends to wear green but its almost a for sure go

  9. Hopefully this doesn't turn into the story of the boy who cried wolf. Eventually there actually was a wolf....hopefully there won't eventually be a signing. :)

Everyone can say TJ is a man of his words as much as they want, but until he's in the Sioux uniform in a little less than 75 days, I'll be constantly worried.

I saw two of the "pact" members at red lake falls this weekend, Big joe and dunc, and if I have learned anything about being in Grand Forks for the summer away from where you come from, you are here for a reason....

  10. After spending the past week in GF, most of which was spent at the Canad, I can't help but think that game day for football is going to be huge. How many other schools can claim to have a destination hotel attached to their football stadium. I can see the three restaurants and Playmakers bar being packed. I would also think that Tavern United would be wise to set up a tent outside in the tailgating area.

What really got me thinking about the potential was that there were evidently some wedding dances going on in some of the Alerus ballroom's on Saturday night and there was a steady stream in the hallway between the Alerus and the Canad.

Game day at the Alerus/Canad complex is loaded with potential.

Tuesdays at tavern united and 2 dollar you call its are pretty essential

  11. The way that Duncan, Oshie, Finley, and Chorney have handled themselves and the fact that they wanted one more chance together shows the importance of recruiting first class people not just players.

very well said... and I don't think some people on here understand a pact is a pact for a reason... you don't promise your wife your coming home at 6 and not show up at all. TJ isn't going to make a deal with some of his lifetime friends and break it either. These are true sioux players representing everything we have..

  12. I was just in there for an interview today if i do get the call its hard to say if i will or not just becuase i already have one job and that one looks pretty serious... works all dressed up ties and things like that... sugar, sugar substitute, sweetner... all facing same direction color coded at all time no matter what, hey you do this, you do that... just as i was interviewing a little too much of that bossy crap that we all love... but it looks to be a great restuarant without a doubt, very nice, very very professional, plus a mediteranean eatery which could be a hit... I dont know too much about it but i would reccomend giving it a try for sure...

Small world on whoever manages there who already read this and word somehow already got back to me... hoping the best for your restaurant..

  13. I was just in Canad today and L'Bistro the newest Mediteranian/Italian resturant is going to open on Monday. It is past the waterpark. It looks great inside there.

  14. I tossed two artillery shells up last week.... about half hour apart... I live on cambridge street, obviously not a good idea but i figured i would test a few out. Literally 20 minutes later we had two cops sneak up from behind our garage and question us if we had been lighting fireworks... they were sneaking around in alleys and everything else just waiting... I guess i can't speak for the 4th but the 150$ fine, mandatory court appearance, and possibility of jail that they threatened certainly gave me their guidelines...
