  1. Just wanted to clear up a couple things, First the letter that was written to president kupkhella was not from an alumni. It was from a visitor who lives in North Dakota but not specify he was an alumni. Second nothing that student government is proposing is idiotic or student or unreasonable. Re-seating an arena is always a good idea to take away the "I own these seats" mentality and is done in major NHL caliber arenas such as REA. Lastly for the people who say that the University is the people of North Dakota's university because the people of North Dakota pay for it. They are "kind of" right, but it is not as much of their University as it is the students. I totally understand that they help the UND and thank them for that. But sorry students do more...I'll let the data speak for itself. In Fiscal year 04 Tuition and fee's made up 27% of the revenue for the UND. 22% was made up of State Appropriations. Therefore if 13,500 students people pay for 27 percent of the total revenue and 633,837 people of North Dakota pay for 22%....sure seems like more of the money falls on the students back, but I'll let you do the math. Bottom line is there is alot at stake for everyone involved. Students need North Dakota, and North Dakota NEEDS the Students of UND and so does Grand Forks So before you go saying how outlandish and dumb student government leaders ideas are realize who it affects the most. They are trying to help the problem and are doing more and putting more time into the problem then anyone else. I applaud them for fighting the fight and looking at all possibilities
  2. I love how everyone of here is so fast to say that this re-seating idea ISN'T going to happen. I am sorry to break all of your bubbles but folks from the inside something major IS going to happen. Why are all of you so afraid of change? Obviously nothing up to this point has worked so why should athletics and the Ralph not go for a change. I say this because I belive they are going to. New GM, New AD, Bad Press for the President....the starts are aligning and sorry but get ready for it. We are one of the few if not the last of colleges that has there student section on the center ice and not at the end of the arena. Also people talk about "their" seats, NEWS FLASH..those are not their seats. They are the Ralph's seats; all you do is pay for the privilege to sit in them. You pay no more then the students who fork over 13,000+ dollars to have the privilege to watch fighting sioux hockey. I have nothing but respect for fans of hockey but I have no time for fans that look down on students. Guess what students are your future leaders, future alumni, future co-workers, people who you will entrust you lives with someday. Students are no better then the people of Grand Forks and they are no better then the students.
  3. my vote for the new GM of REA goes to air force one.
  4. Your in for a goodtime, I grew up in badger country and the hockey games are amazing. I recommend hitting up state street brats, or Badgerland Bar & Grill. Great spots for pre-game drinking and socializing. Have no fear badger fans are hardcore yet nice to out of Towner's (Sioux fans).
  5. The Ralph Engelstad Arena: Doing everything it can to ruin sioux sports since 2001 Wow that place is such a joke. Over the past 3 years I have seen fan support and atmosphere drop dramatically due to the soul fact of the Ralph being the money hungry corporation it is. Funny how Arena Holdings Charitable, LLC is the name of the operating personal of the Ralph. Nothing very charitable giving only 14% of seats to students and taking away the upper level bars for the "average fan" if you ask me
  6. Ok, If you want the numbers here they are 5,586 lower bowl seats and 630 stundents seats = 16.43% 11,406 totall and 1800 stuents seat (acually GA so not totally students seats)=15.78 population of grand forks 49,321, and student pop. 13,187= 27.08% of students that make up grand forks. maybe its me but the numbers seem a little off.
  7. when it comes to seats in the REA its all controlled by REA. Might want to ask why students make up 22 perent of Grand Forks and we only get 4.1 percent of seats in the Ralph. Like I said before, make sure you know who to point the fingers at.
  8. BLAH BLAH BLAH It
