  1. Sigalet wouldn't give UND the time of day. :) He is very good but his "family advisor" has a dislike for the UND program. It's my guess that the advisor was upset that no Sioux players ever used him when they turn pro. Most Sioux players use Neil Sheehe (sp) or Justin Duberman. Maybe it will turn out to be more Sigalet's loss than UND's. I bet he'll never see a Frozen Four.

  2. Great article. I'm sure most Sioux fans have had an opportunity to meet some hockey players over the years and probably have a "favorite". If you ever have an opportunity to say hi to Ryan....don't pass it up. Spend a few minutes talking to him. I don't think I've ever met a nicer person than Ryan Hale.

  3. Nice to be back (from AZ) to ice and hockey. Had no idea what went on last weekend until today. Brutally hot down there also; the cold feels good ;)

    Sprig,

You sure you're not suffering from heat stroke? :0

  4. Bob Duncan bleeds green, and from what I understand, there is nothing he wants more than for Ryan to skate for the Sioux. The purpose of sending Ryan to Faribault was to "hopefully" take advantage of the SSM to UND connection. Duncan and Crosby came up to Grand Forks together for the Friday, Nov 22nd UW game.

  5. Ahhh yes, the old "we pulled the scholarship offer" trick. I'm sure Tim H knows the timing of the phone calls that Monday morning. Lucia calls Lincoln, NE to find out what Bochenski's decision is. Then he makes a call to Blaine to confirm what he was told on the Lincoln call. Then he pulls his offer that afternoon because of "issues".

  6. You got me Greyeagle. Not only did I do it once, I followed it up a few words later with the same spelling. :D

What's surprising is that Clayton, who was up most of the night, still caught both yours and mine, even with one eye closed. :D

I guess, what I was thinking about was, all these people with Gopher ties becoming regular "boarders" at the REA. They're living in $30K suites, but they're not paying any rent. ;)

  7. Herbie hanging out at the REA...it all seems very suspicious. Maybe he's is part of the Nanne/Sonmor recruiting strategy. This talk about him telling Zach to come to UND might just be a cover.

It seems there are a lot of people with Rodent ties hanging around Grand Forks these days. Even Rachel Blount had Zach cornered today after practice. Why would the Gopher writer drive all the way to GF to hang out around the Sioux locker?;)

Our boarders need protection. I suggest we assign The Sicatoka and kr or PCM to boarder patrol duty at Fargo and Grand Forks. I'm sure there will be concerns about paying for all this security. I believe we could make it part of the Homeland Security bill. :D

  8. kr - hang on to the ice. I'm not convinced that this anonymous Sioux fan or PCM's ice has the karma. There is a chance both of their containers were handled improperly. My question is.....did Denny Gunderson assist in the application of said ice? If not, it might not have the desired long term effect. :D

  9. Since the team is staying at the Radisson, I would imagine most people will be at DB Searle's or the Green Mill on Friday night. There isn't much of a lounge in the Radisson and both of those places are very close to the hotel.

I think Al and Company stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, out on I-94 by the truckstop and McDonalds, last year. The team also stayed out there because they were not satisfied with the Kelly Inn the year before.

  10. There will be a gathering of UND alumni, friends and fans at DB Searle's prior to the Sioux/SCSU game on Saturday, Nov. 9th. The game is sold out so if you don't have tix, you can watch the game on TV at DB Searle's. Pre-game starts at 5pm. The team is staying at the Radisson which is short walk to DB Searle's, 18 5th Ave. S. Prizes will include Sioux t-shirts, license plate frames and other decorations.

If you would like to attend, you can rsvp to myself or to: darren.w.larson@wellsfargo.com

  11. I believe Donnie was miss-quoted in that piece. I think the quote went something like this:

"We have enough good freshmen where we don't have to rely on one freshman to carry the mail," Gophers coach Don Lucia said. "We don't need a freshman to come in and be our No. 1 center or quarterback our power play. We have three freshmen that can do those jobs."

Translation: one Parise equals one (Guyer+Vanek+Hirsch)

  12. I need to put in a request for at least one sink in a bathroom where I can get the water on without waving my arms like a lunatic in front of it.

    soSIOUXme,

This sounds like it could be more than a water problem. Slow down the hand movements. :p

  13. Its $. Follow the Benjamans. The Blue seats were worth just as much as the Gold ones Baby. Looking forward to all of your $s next year too! Of course youll be too busy yapping about NDSU cant afford D1 and they will be sorry if they try.

What do you think youll draw tommorrow? My guess 10,000.

Those blue seats were plentiful yesterday as 8,541 "Screaming Yellow" fans attended a homecoming game. The question now becomes.....will there be Benjamans tied to those seats in future years, or will they just be empty blue seats. My guess is that those empty blue seats won't bring in one Benjaman in future years and they certainly won't be buying any cokes and hotdogs. I say that because those people who used to buy those cokes and hotdogs at the FargoDome will be buying them at Engelstad Arena.

If I had my choice, I would take 11,368 homecoming fans in a 13,000 seat arena over 8,541 fans in a 19,000 seat arena. Ouch, that's a lot of blue.

BTW, what were the "screaming yellow" fans yelling at the opponent this time?

Note to Dr. Chapman: Paint the seats yellow, it will make it harder for guys like Sicatoka to pick out the empty seats.

  14. There are few things that Dubay dislikes more than UND hockey. He likes to rip the arena, UND's Canadian players, Ralph Engelstad, UND fans, Grand Forks and anything associated with Fighting Sioux hockey. He likes to refer to Engelstad as a Nazi. He still trys to convince listeners that most of UND's recruits are 23 year old freshmen.

I have always thought that Jeff Dubay and "happy" are the same person. It wouldn't surprise me if Dubay was the person who took down Shane K's Fighting Sioux website.

  15. Over the summer, the expectation for Colby Genoway was that it would take him through December to get comfortable with this level of play. Then, as we get into January, he would be an impact player. I don't think that has changed.

I know he hasn't looked out of place in captains scrimmages, but he hasn't been a dominating player either. He's pretty much been average.

  16. Brenden Connelly isn't in school at UND. He transfered to a DIII school and is working on his Engineering degree.

Derek Faul isn't at UND either. I believe he is up in Saskatchewan going to school and playing hockey.

From what I'm hearing, forward walk-on will most likely be added to the team after tryouts conclude.
