If we're going to continue to with Softball this program needs to have facilities update if we're ever going to compete in softball because of our climate. They need to get to where they have bubble dome facility that would allow this team to have practice facilities as well as place to play that can schedule home games with confidence. I know this is not cheap thing to propose but without it how are we ever going to attract players and develop players if we can't provide facilities where they can play during the school year. I look at other sports like football, track, and soccer have been provided facilities because of our climate. This would have been easier to propose if also had a baseball team something I am not getting into, but if we are going to have softball then we need to start looking at how we can become more successful playing the sport. It's not fair to players, coaches, and university if we're going to just throw huge Somes of money to play the sport we have no intention of competing just to satisfy the NCAA and conference.  I believe if there was some leadership for athletic administration and working with donors and Grand Forks community there is probably way to funding something like this. There is huge need for facility like this in Northeastern North Dakota/Northwest Minnesota and i believe it could generate revenue also by renting facility out for high school to play games, other neighboring colleges to also play games and finally to the public for parties and activities of being able to play during the winter. This i believe should be looked at and being discussed with future facilities for UND.

UND is building a on campus softball field (outdoor), I know they have played in the Alerus in the past and I believe they use the Pollard Center for practice as well. The Alerus and Pollard are not ideal for softball but it's something.  I agree it would help if they had a indoor facility that was for baseball/softball.  Local high schools could also utilize and get funding from the city as well

If UND is gonna stick with the NODAK name and continue to use it, they need to drop the diagonal crap on all of the merchandise.  Looks absolutely terrible if it isn't on a hockey jersey.  Develop a legit script logo for it like Pitt has and go with it.  Can still be the Fighting Hawks, just as Pitt is the Panthers.  Would potentially help people move on.  As it is, UND is selling a bunch of crap Nodak merch and it just feels like an afterthought.  Do it right, and mix it in on other jerseys as an alternate.

pitt panthers basketball jersey for Sale OFF 77%

I feel like we have seen the end of NODAK, sweaters never seen the ice after the trademark scandal

Have you watched them ruin MLB with their “City Connect” softball ubiforms?

Home, away , and 1 alternate maybe 2 at the max. That's it!

Goaltending is becoming what I fear: We keep going to the portal for a quick fix.

How about we recruit and develop and get the goalie pipeline where it should be. I'll take another portal this year as we have no options, but I need to see the pipeline built back up.

What happened to our goalie pipeline? Always had solid goalies coming in. Last few years have not been the case

I realize I'm in the minority, but Men's Basketball is semi unwatchable.  I would much rather watch a game with great ball movement and perimeter shooting than a game full of dunks.

I prefer watching women's basketball, but I think alot of that goes back to growing up with those powerhouse teams of the 90s

    Bernie's was a massive disappointment.

Don't see it lasting very long unless she pivots.

Which she already seems to be doing by extending her hours and offering dinner.

I believe it was her plan from the beginning to start offering dinner and extending hours.

And how many people even know about it? Not everyone is plugged into social media on a regular basis.

I agree, I've never listened to it. At a minimum I expect him to do some halftime/intermission interviews or be visible at games. I try to watch as many football, basketball and hockey games as i can. I rarely see him on the broadcasts. Correct me if I'm wrong

Chaves is almost invisible. You don't see him in the community. I have not heard him articulate a vision for where the department as a whole is going and/or should be going.

That said, improving the athletic department as a whole has to start at the top, with President Armacost. If he doesn't set the standard, it simply won't happen.

    He has a podcast lol

  9. Travis was a joy to listen to on his radio show and great doing color this season on the radio. He seemed to be a wonderful person. He had great insight and endless stories from his time at UND. He was very proud of never scoring a goal while at UND as he mentioned it often.

    Gone too soon

    RIP Travis Dunn

Curious who on this team could be sent over the boards as an enforcer, Jackson Kunz comes to mind based on size, but he is in GF.  Not that it matters as the refs would shut it down before as soon as any squaring off happened. I recall Mario dropping mitts, I think with the St Cloud Marvin that ran Chay Genoway into the boards.  Refs stopped that before them fellas could exhale.

Not sure how I stand on fighting in hockey, like the enforcer stops cheap shots concept but the whole enforcers ending up with brain trauma gives me pause.

I think Mario was the last guy to actually drop the gloves at UND. You used to see a fight maybe once a year .
