  1. Could someone please post the dates that tickets are on sale for all of the WCHA road games that UND plays? For instance, I believe the U of M (Mariucci) is October 1...but I'm not sure. Could someone please clarify all dates...or if you know of at least one, post. For instance, if you know St. Cloud tickets are already on sale, etc. I have purchased my Colorado College tickets (went on sale on the 19th) so that is not a concern. Thanks for anyone's help.
  2. Thank you for all your suggestions. I appreciate the help.
  3. Hey Dallas...GFY. Does anyone have anything helpful to say?
  4. I am wondering if someone can give me a lead on a XXXL Sioux Jersey. (Yes, that is three Xs.) The person I would like to give a the jersey to has tried on a XXL and it is too tight. If you have any other suggestions (nice sweatshirts, etc.) I would happily take those, too. And, I'm sorry that this isn't exactly hockey related, but this part of the site seems to get the most action. Thanks for your help. Jeff
  5. I had forgotten about the dasher cam... <Cringe!>
  6. Oh, I see what's going on here...it's the old "confuse the Gophers fan while he's in Colorado Springs by telling him to go to a bunch of places that don't exist" thread. Now that I've scratched off the Broadmoor as places to see, is there really a Pikes Peak?
  7. Has anyone here in this forum been out to Colorado Springs to watch the Sioux? If so, could you tell me about some Sioux-friendly bars/restaurants or hot spots around Colorado Springs that might be of interest? I'm also curious to know of any good hotel recommendations for the trip. I'd most like to stay where the team is staying (if anyone knows of that location) but am open to other suggestions. The dynamic of the trip will be three die-hard Sioux fans and me--a Gophers fan that will be there for the love of college hockey and to spend time with my dad. Two young guys and two old guys total. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks, Jeff http://www.xanga.com/sculthorp
  8. Why should we support them on this issue? Here's one reason: it's more fun to yell "Sioux Suck" than "Flickertails Suck"
  9. I laughed too. I've never put "class" and "UND/Gophers fans" in the same sentence. It's an interesting concept, just one that I'm not going to take on.
  10. To Gophers/Bison Fans: I must say that I am disappointed with some of you that have taken it upon yourselves to antagonize UND fans concerning their struggle with the NCAA's committee ruling to ban Indian mascots/names/etc. in post-season play. As a life-long Gophers fan, I can't imagine UND not having the Fighting Sioux name, nor could I comprehend the pain that would be associated if the NCAA decided that my favorite school's nickname/mascot would have to be changed. This is a time to support our biggest rival, not to bash them. If this name is changed, we all lose. Go Sioux! --Jeff
  11. I enjoy the posts on siouxSports because in almost every instance of someone stating speculation, the next post is always "proof?" "where's the proof?" "do you have sources?" If only CBS had such fact checkers. Isn't the point of these boards to speculate?
  12. Well...not just any blog: From gopherpucklive: Chris "MaizeRage" Dilks: Suprisingly neutral and unbiased despite being a Michigan fan with a soft spot for both MSU-Mankato and St. Cloud State. He keeps a very well-written blog on the WCHA and CCHA at http://www.westerncollegehockey.blogspot.com, which I highly recommend checking out as a source for Western college hockey news and opinions. I'm not sure where he gets his facts but he's been a solid source.
  13. Here we go: From the western college hockey blog: Finley was offered a scholarship by North Dakota and Boston University, as well as a partial scholarship to Minnesota. With the likelihood of defenseman Matt Greene leaving for the NHL, as well as the off-chance of Matt Smaby going pro, and the uncertainty of Robbie Bina
  14. I'd like to add to the header "Finley picks UND for 05', over Minnesota and BU" that Minnesota only offered him a partial scholarship. It's not like UND stole Finley away from Minnesota, like the post header would indicate. I am unaware of what BU offered.
  15. That's unfortunate. I was looking forward to watching him chase Kessel around the rink this year. Obviously that would be a big blow to your team this year, but with so many blue-chip defensive recruits coming down the pipe, I think your team will be just fine. As a Wild season ticket holder, I'm pretty lax about the NHL coming back. They haven't dropped ticket prices...and frankly, I just don't care about NHL Hockey that much anymore. I'll probably keep my tickets, as a game and the bar make for an excellent night, but I can't see the general public caring at all about this getting done.
  16. Amen. Freedom costs a buck o' five.
  17. When Kessel is getting held, I shall agree with Woog that a penalty should be called. When Kessel is pushing people off of him and he gets two minutes, I shall agree with Woog that a penalty should not have been called. I think this post is about dead...thanks for all that contributed. I've learned a lot.
  18. Thanks MafiaMan for the reminder that there's a reason why they play the games. Wait...what? Polls and expectations don't decide anything? Good to know. Yawn. Hey look...I can do the eye-rolling guy, too. Even though my predictions don't mean anything, I'm still going UMN a #1 and UND a #2. Denver is probably a #1 (with a series of 1-0 victories all season), but my hope is they go to Green Bay. (Hopefully to play a #2 Sconi team.) That btw, just edged out UND in the Final Five tourney championship...in overtime...on a fluke goal. And if you're wondering...The Gophers win the third-place game 5-2 (Kessel hat trick...again).
  19. Given the excitement of the Gophers recruiting class (Kessel, etc.) I fully expect the Gophers to be a #1 seed up in GF this year. And given what UND has lost (especially if Smaby leaves), I'm predicting UND a #2 seed. Let's just skip the regular season and go to this game.
  20. Well...if it's anything like the U of M, tickets are handled separately outside of the season ticket package.
  21. So, here's a summary of disadvantages that I have heard from Sioux fans on this post: 1. Small community 2. Lack of corporate support 3. TV Contract/FSN/etc. 4. Travel to Final Five 5. Lack of regionals at REA 6. Unshared profits of D1 Programs These are just the top 6...there have been more on the thread but this basically sums it up. So, with that...how specifically do these points negatively affect your team's performances year in and year out? To me it doesn't seem to affect the UND Hockey team at all...unless you are willing to argue that with these disadvantages lifted from the program/city/university, the team would be even better than it has been...which, recently, would basically mean winning the national championship every year.
  22. I was hoping this thread would concentrate on the aspects of North Dakota becoming a powerhouse hockey program that could no longer play the underdog card, and not a "Everything we hate about the U of M thread." So MafiaMan, I agree with some of your points...the spinning your head is old, big 10 football in the dome is horrible, etc...but perhaps the "Everything we hate about each other" arguments could be saved for another time?
