  1. Just tried it. Unfortunately, under the following conditions and no bonus points, Maine would flip the comparison and be 1 overall, while the Sioux would be 2 all by themselves: WCHA Play-in #1: Colorado College defeats Alaska-Anchorage. WCHA Semifinal #2: Minnesota defeats Minnesota-Duluth. WCHA Semifinal #1: North Dakota defeats Colorado College. WCHA Championship game: Minnesota defeats North Dakota. WCHA Consolation game: Minnesota-Duluth defeats Colorado College. Atlantic Hockey Championship game: Sacred Heart defeats Holy Cross. Hockey East Semifinal #2: New Hampshire defeats Massachusetts. Hockey East Semifinal #1: Maine defeats Boston University. Hockey East Championship game: Maine defeats New Hampshire. ECAC Semifinal #2: Dartmouth defeats Harvard. ECAC Semifinal #1: Colgate defeats Clarkson. ECAC Championship game: Colgate defeats Dartmouth. ECAC Consolation game: Harvard defeats Clarkson. CCHA Play-in #2: Michigan State defeats Northern Michigan. CCHA Play-in #1: Notre Dame defeats Ohio State. CCHA Semifinal #2: Miami defeats Michigan State. CCHA Semifinal #1: Michigan defeats Notre Dame. CCHA Championship game: Michigan defeats Miami. CCHA Consolation game: Notre Dame defeats Michigan State.
  2. I'll take your word on Grafton's titles. I am not slamming ND hockey and recognize Grand Forks teams have beat some of the best teams in MN in the past. It just doesn't happen very often -- which frustrates me given the success the younger age groups have against the same teams. Also, it is a big difference between beating Warroad, which is a great accomplishment, to consistently beating Moorhead and other AA contenders. As jloos alluded to in an earlier post, the Central teams in the mid 1990s (with the Panzers, Occonnell, and other D1 players) were extremely talented yet had very little success against MN teams and didn't even have a close game against Moorhead during my time on the team. I'm just curious about what they do differently on the other side of the river besides having better competition to develop their players. Grand Forks has started to use AAA teams at the peewee and bantam levels (Red Army and Blackhawks, I believe) which may produce better players in the future; but are these players more likely to leave early?
  3. sandman, i didn't say politics were not part of the process; I just don't think it is any worse than any place else. GPR does well for it's since, but they have a fitting nickname as they generally spoil others chances of winning and making it further than expected; however, they don't win state championships very often (I believe they have 2 or 3 in their history). Still they are a team no one likes to play at tournament time.
  4. Both GF schools have varsity baseball teams for at least 5 years, and Central has won a state tournament in the past. I don't think Central or RR have any more politics in selecting their hockey teams than Minnesota schools do, so I don't think that causes any additional problems for them. Also, a lot changes from squirts to high school and to say the team is picked when people are 10 is simply not accurate. Now if you want to talk about the difficulty of going from a Bantam B to getting ice on JV over a comparably skilled Bantam A player, I agree there could be a problem there.

  6. Grand Forks teams have success against Moorhead and great MN teams up until high school. Something happens in the transition from Bantams to High School where GF
  7. Anyone else surprised that Jones didn't make first team on Virg's ballot?
  8. I put Irmen under RR as that was the last high school team he played for. RR would be tied for 6th with Warroad on Basil's list.
