  1. Sioux are not looking good today on the PP. Giving up odd man rushes and just look out of sync.

  11. What have there been, 6 or 7 whistles now in less than 3 minutes?

  13. Hakstol's pre-game comments: It's a critical game for our hockey team. We want to keep moving forward. We have an awful lot on the line. We're battling for a 2nd place seeding in the WCHA. We're battling for an NCAA seeding. That's the biggest thing on the line. We need to keep moving forward and responding well. The base of the confidence really comes way back in September. We didn't always see results, but the one thing it comes from is the work ethic of this hockey team, and that they seem to be coming a better team. They continue to have fun, and the camradarie on this team continues to bode well. We're going to have an off night at some point in time, and as you get deeper into the season, you can't afford to have that off night, and you have to find a way to battle through that off night. Right from practice, guys work up, work extremely hard, but they're having fun. It's certainly not a chore for them to be there. They're focused when they're there, but they're having fun. We just need to remain focus, whether it's a practice or an afternoon game where you have a chance to go out and get 2 points, like today. I think we're coming into the Lion's Den this weekend. It seems like these two teams always play each other hard to begin with, and then you add what's at stake; there's an awful lot on the line for both these teams. Jones is back. Don't know if I've seen a tougher kid. He was emotional to pull himself out last Saturday. I've never seen his kid work through so much pain to get back in. We tried to put a yellow jersey on him, and it didn't stay their long. The one thing that sits in my mind after last weekend, is that Phil was the only one who thought about going out to get the game puck for Aaron. That's the team player he is. I expect him to go out and battle hard today.
  14. You kidding? All the college kids were at the Crazy Horse!
  15. I would have to say "Cool Karl." Vickar scared the s*&^ out of me when he was in net during a game!
  16. Actually, Chelios was in his first year as a Badger during the water bottle incident. Happened, January 30, 1982, and Chelios came in the fall of '81.
  17. Well, hopefully Bo can make the lineup. I wouldn't mind watching him play, as I can get to some Nashville games.
  18. Yes.
  19. Hakstol post-game comments: What a battle. I thought we started a little slow, in the first 7-10 minutes. We weren't sharp on the first PP, and after that, it was tough to get PP's. From there, I thought we worked ourselves into it and played a good 50 minutes. Pucks weren't going in, and we grounded it out. Right now, it looks like Oshie has an extra gear or two. He's accelerating out of piles, and right now, no on can keep up with him. He's really setting the bar for the hockey team, and that's what a leader does. The goal is a special play, and it just comes back to him elevating his play, and that brings everyone else around him to a higher level. It hasn't been a few games, it's been since Christmas. Couldn't be happier for Walski. Can't tell you how many times he's take a puck off the collarbone, off the knee, grits his teeth and gets back in. It's not rewarded with starts, so tonight is pretty special for him. I don't think we gave up a whole lot tonight. I think we were playing solid defensively. There's always that risk and all it takes is that bounce of the puck, but we stayed sharp, and played the puck well in those areas. Finally, one went in. I didn't even see how it went in. Not sure if it went in cleanly or rattled around a little bit. BSU has used the quick transition game all year long. They've got guys who can move. There's two sides of the coin. Sometimes, you can turn it around in your advantage, and we really didn't do that tonight. This was a real important win for us...both of them this weekend. It completes our non-conference schedule, and we both know that comes into play in the national tournament. Not sure of the importance of these wins, but they were important to us.
  20. Whooo! Hate close, non-conference games! Good win for the Sioux and congrats to Walski on his first win and first shutout in college hockey!
