  1. UND football camp Day 3: Hawks continue to develop Boltmann's versatility

Play of the day: For the second time during fall camp, UND freshman quarterback Tommy Schuster had a wide receiver make a diving catch on the sideline on a ball that initially appeared uncatchable. Earlier in camp, the catch was from Minnesota State Moorhead transfer Jake Richter. On Sunday, it was Mikey Griebel making the grab.

  2. UND football camp Day 2: Richter, Burian make highlight grabs

    • For the second day in a row, UND worked in utility man Brock Boltmann at quarterback -- sometimes with another quarterback split out wide.
    • Freshman Reid Neal was the fourth quarterback to take snaps. He hit tight end/wide receiver Adam Zavalney, of Park River, N.D., on a rollout pass for about 7 yards to finish practice.

What did Miller have to say in his article today about the first practice?  I don't have an online subscription to the Herald so it won't let me read it.  :(

UND football camp Day 1: Strange season begins

    Day 1 notes

    • Wide receiver-kick returner-quarterback Brock Boltmann worked with the quarterbacks on Day 1 and took the second round of snaps after Tommy Schuster in the 11-on-11 portion of practice.
    • Rookie wide receiver Jack Wright, the high school football national record-holder for career touchdowns, practiced for the first time as he returns from a leg injury. He wore a brace during practice.
    • Quarterback Quincy Vaughn was the third quarterback to take reps during the team portion of practice. His last throw was a deep ball that rookie wide receiver Bo Belquist couldn't quite haul in amid tight coverage.

  4. An chance that the timing of the Montana schools pulling out of spring football planned to prevent players from transferring?  I feel like the teams choosing to play are going to have the upper hand when fall rolls around.

Though some might be interested based on the discussion.

Also, C.J. has done a couple mask and safety PSAs  and was on one of their recruiting fliers, not that it matters.

What is the Avg. P and how is it calculated?

High school will not be proactively testing healthy students, up to the parentsnif the kid should be tested.  Just finishing up the bb AAU season with tournaments in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls and Iowa with teams from all over the Midwest at every tournament.  Not one player or parent missed a game

If the colleges wouldn’t test healthy athletes there would be A season and turn out just fine.

I agree 100%.  We played an entire season of summer baseball ages 6-19 and not a single case.  The only modifications were no sunflower seeds in the dugout and no hand shakes after the game, no social distancing.  Don't recall seeing more than a couple people even wearing masks.  You would think that would erase some of the fears.  What are students going to do when flu and cold season roll around?

Not a fan of this move.  If the same type of fans that sit on the Hawks sideline end up behind the visiting team, the Al is going to be a pretty friendly place for the road team.

Can't imagine the 50+ students behind the visitors bench had any affect on the winning season.  Friendly or not, you have to get it done on the field, not the stands.  If you get 500 students in the stands, then you might convince me.

I certainly hope you know something that I don't.  It must be a recent development - I certainly hope you are correct!!

I just don't understand why everything is so hush hush.  Really, if you are looking for funding, wouldn't you want people to know where the project is funding wise.  What if all they need is $5 million and rich farmer Joe is sitting out in Western ND looking for something to fund.  Let's get it out in the open and get it done.  Who is running the show?  Give me the name of one person who knows the answers because whoever it is, they are doing a crappy job of selling it.

  9. Something is going to be announced soon on the HPCII.  The only problem is that team would be homeless at least for the next 2 seasons.  It might be worth the wait if we know plans are moving forward.  Look on the bright side, we are getting new turf and new uniforms this season.

Yes UND and NDSU started a couple of years ago.  I can't remember about the SD schools

Are you certain that UND does it because I don't think they do.  Is it for everyone on the team or only certain players?

Memorial isn’t doing so hot structurally. If you get the chance go and look at the brick walls and how much they bow out.

Safety concerns is usually a good sell.  I'm serious about this.  Maybe with the new President, things might take a turn for the better.

There shouldn't be any doubt that Phase 2 is an important component for the overall purpose of the High Performance Center and even more so the football program.  My first question is who is on this committee and what is being done to sell this project?  Other than the pretty picture that sits in the HPC, I haven't heard any updates.  Chaves can't possibly be the only person that knows anything.  There certainly must be some money set aside for the project.  Let's get real, it wasn't very hard to convince a small percentage of UND students that a new $80  million dollar student union was needed.  People need to see the facilities our boy's are working with.  They need to see what other programs are building.  If there is a need, let's get out there and sell it!
