Good to see ya swami. :)

About your Point 3: I've long said I'm tired of seeing hockey become soccer. Games should be decided on talent, not a bad bounce off the glass. (A mighty sweep-check ability is not a talent.) Bad bounces will happen, but in today's 5 total goals per game world (compared to the 9 total goals per game world of the 20-30 years ago) that bad luck goal is 20% of the game (1/5) and not 11% (1/9) as it was in the past. Again, I want to see talent, not bad bounces, win games.

The focus on a nominal talent (a mean sweep-check) has negated offensive talent and thereby exacerbated the luck (bad bounce) part of the game's influence.

Couldn't agree more with this. There's a big problem with luck beating talent and I personally think the increasing size of goalies and their pads are to blame. They've made it so that the difference between having a good goalie and a bad goalie has been greatly diminished. This has also led to the majority of shots being stopped and a far greater percentage of goals being the result of puck luck, like you said. Everything I've read said the answer isn't smaller goalie pads however, it's actually larger nets since the physical size of goaltenders is far bigger now as well. It sounds kinda crazy, but I've thought they should try it for awhile now

...and since Brad won’t touch this, 10 goal scorers each year since 2004-2005 have been 6,6,6,4,6,6,6,5,5,4,6 and under Berry 7, 4,4, and 1 this year, and that one only came about because of an overtime goal last weekend.

We had a few years there when guys like Parks and Macmillan were key players that we weren’t overly talented, but still managed quite a few guys that could get to ten goals.

That might be the most telling stat I’ve seen about the last few years. I don’t think its just lack of talent either like some are saying. I mean a guy like Mismash, who was a point per game player for the U-18s, isn’t even sniffing that kind of production here. Hoff and Adams were both high end offensive talents in the USHL and they can barely stay in the lineup. I don’t know what the answer is but that just doesn’t add up to me

    Here’s what I have:

    Mismash- Blaisdell- Guch

    Adams-Rizzo- Pinto

    Smith- Senden-Hain

    Keane- Weatherby- Caulfield

    ex: Hoff or Bowen

Defense: draw names out of the hat.

*i have no idea if they will play both Rizzo and Blaisdell at center. I just know they both played center in their most recent games played.*

I actually like those a lot. I'm really interested to see how the 4 freshman forwards play next year because they're gonna need to play one on the first line and it could honestly be any of them. Maybe not Caulfield, but I think it's a total toss up between the other three. Very close together talent wise

  4. Adams is obviously talented and I think we could be getting a lot more out of him, don't get me wrong. That said, am I the only who feels like he still hasn't adjusted to the physicality of college? I swear every time he gets the puck he's getting bounced off it by bigger guys or when he's battling for loose pucks he gets muscled out. That's why I think Berry hasn't been pairing him with other, smaller skill guys like Kawaguchi and has been putting him with bigger guys like Rhett

So I have been watching the BCHL playoffs.

Penticton was eliminated tonight in game 6 so Rizzo’s season is done. (Note: Rizzo is going to draw a lot of penalties next year so if we could figure out the PP that’d be great. :whistling: )

Chilliwack (with Blaisdell & Bowen) won their game 7 last night. Blaisdell had a PP goal. (Side note: I watched all 7 games, and I’ve never seen a goalie get run so many times in my life.)

Wenatchee (with Murphy Stratton) won their game 7 to advance. Stratton had 4 goals, 4 assists in the opening round. I didnt catch much of this series but hopefully will catch more of round 2.

I haven't gotten to watch either Blaisdell or Rizzo play much, but I've read a lot about them. Who would you compare them to from recent UND teams? Anybody either one reminds you of?

B1G Hockey:  It’s sadder than you think.

The Big Ten has been so horrible for college hockey and nobody has been hit harder than the gophers. 4 other D-1 hockey teams in the state of Minnesota and they don't have a single one in their conference. No UND either and who are they left with for rivals besides a Wisconsin team that hasn't been good for awhile now

I didn’t realize that.  I’ve seen him play twice this year.  He dominated plays vs Davies and last weekend bs Grafton.

In all honesty 5'10 is probably about accurate, but as siouxfan512 said he's only 16. All that aside however, the kid is a total stud like you said. Dominating in AA and will probably do the same next year in AAA. None of this really matters though as he will most likely follow his brother to NDSU

So was Cade Stibbe someone who UND should have looked at?

Personally I don't think so. He's a very good player, but at 5'6 you gotta be extremely talented to make up for your lack of size. Last guys who were 5'6 and played at UND that I can remember were Grimaldi and Duncan and they were on a much higher level than Stibbe when they committed. That said Carter Randklev was a small kid committed to ASU too before he took a big step and got the call from UND, so it's always possible Cade could end up being a UND level player down the road. Hope this was helpful!

If jbd and Tychonik are already playing paired together and have good chemistry, would it be worth splitting them if they both come in next year

Honestly yeah. I know they're both very good, but no matter how talented you are you can't teach experience. I'd rather pair them with guys who have a year or two of college under their belts. I think that's the best way to maximize their abilities year 1, but that's just me.

  10. Weiss would be a great pick up, but I don’t think he’s any better than Hain and they play the same position. Wahlstrom on the other hand would be coming onto a team with only 1 right winger on the roster, who’s just a bottom 6 grinder (Bowen). I know the chances of getting him are slim to none, but the pitch is pretty sweet. We’ve got a very solid top LW and C, and Wahlstrom could be the elite RW the top line is missing. Door is wide open for him to get great exposure with a top tier hockey school

Went back a few pages, been gone for a while . . . do we have any projected lines with incoming recruits yet?

    Mismash-Jones-Kawaguchi

    Adams-Gardner-Janatuinen

    Hain-Hoff-Yon

    Smith-Weatherby-Bowen

    Tychonick-Poolman

    Shaw-Bast

    Kierstad-Peski

    Thome

These are mine under the assumption Gersich leaves. If he stays I'd have him take Adams' spot and Adams take Yon's, making Yon a scratch.
