Either JJ or Greg eslinger would be the top recruited high school seniors out of ND. Wentz and kleinsasser ended up being very very good players but were not as highly recruited.

I will have to check on Mark Slater, Doug Beaudoin, Phil Farris. and Steve Cichy to see if they were recruited or walk-ons.  There are probably others.

The ladies team sure does know how to get up for big games and then just lay horrible eggs against poor teams.
    Very weird.

Syracuse tied #4 Clarkson this weekend and tied ranked Colgate earlier in the season.  Mankato had a win over #3 UMD this weekend.

  3. I have looked at the Bisonville message board and other message boards.  There is some good discussion and not so good discussion.  A game was played with both teams and coaches trying their best.  Mistakes and good plays were made by both sides.  That is what competition is about.

  4. I was at the 2001 D2 Women's Basketball Championship game when UND lost in OT.  While I felt bad for the players and staff, I did not feel cheated then and I do not feel cheated now with the football team.

I have learned to appreciate the journey and understand how difficult it is to attain a championship.

I have watched a lot of great teams that have not won a championship.  I do not hold them in a lesser regard than teams that have.

If it was easy, everyone would have a trophy.

For those to young, look into the 1997 Women's Basketball Regional championship comeback  and let me know if the opposing team to UND had a lack of coaching or didn't have an understanding how to win.

  5. "Well, it probably bothers other people more than it bothers me," said the Hall of Fame coach. "To survive in this business, you can't have a backwards look. You lose a game and then you have to move to the next one. You can't look back and say we could have, would have, should have. When it's over, it's over."

well put...yes bubba should have played coy and boom timeout with 5 or 6 secs...exactly like you said maybe not enough time for richmond to run two plays but enough for santiago to GO!!!

So Bubba calls timeout at 6 seconds.  Richmond doesn't burn time out.   Holder mishandles snap.  Richmond calls timeout.  Richmond sets up for kick on 4th down.

All the second guessing in the world is going to change the result.

  7. About six years ago we changed the TV money at Montana’s request,” Fullerton said. “We used to have a much more socialistic approach and used to spread the money throughout the league to help make the teams stronger.”

Montana, which has had all of its games televised for several years, fought to keep more of the money and succeeded, Fullerton said.

  8. The No. 2 ranked University of Minnesota volleyball team came back from a 2-0 deficit and trailed 23-20 in the third set to come back and defeat No. 1 Nebraska in five sets Wednesday night, 21-25, 22-25, 28-26, 25-17, 17-15. The win was in front of a sellout crowd of 5401 at the Sports Pavilion. Minnesota improves to 24-4 overall, 16-3 in the Big Ten, and remains undefeated at home.

  9. “There are some individuals who believe that there is something that’s going to happen at their university that is so spectacular at the next level that everyone is going to think so much more highly of them,” Fullerton said. “Quite frankly, if you look around over the last 10 years, there’s only been one school that has made the move successfully and made it consistently. That school is Boise State.

“And if you really looked at it, Boise State only made it in one sport.”

  10. Newspaper account from Chicago Tribune on Yale's touchdown: "on the fourth down Crowley had the honor of coasting high over center like a swimmer sliding down a wave on a surf board for a touchdown".

The excerpt regarding Red Jarrett was from Curt Eriksmoen in Bismarck Tribune, November 29, 2014.

How do you measure the greatest team?  Is it based on championships alone?  How about teams that played when there was no playoff system?  Is it based on how many players went to play at the pro level?  Were the Patriots who were undefeated until the Super Bowl not a great team?
