So far per brads blog First period UND 1, Miami 0 — Jordan Schmaltz (Mark MacMillan, Rocco Grimaldi) 3:35 (dp). UND gets the extra guy on the ice after a delayed penalty. MacMillan drives wide into the left corner and spots Schmaltz pinching. MacMillan makes a perfect pass to Schmaltz, who one-times it into the far side of the net. UND 2, Miami 0 — Colten St. Clair 6:24. Ausmus causes havoc behind the net as McKay goes to play the puck. The puck comes out into the crease, where Cook tries to clear it, but St. Clair bats his clearing attempt out of midair for his first goal in 12 games. St. Clair’s last goal was against Miami in Oxford. UND 3, Miami 0 — Rocco Grimaldi (Stephane Pattyn, Paul LaDue) 8:56. LaDue makes a long pass up the wall to Pattyn, who touches it to Grimaldi. The UND sophomore comes in on McKay alone, fakes a shot to get him down and goes forehand for the goal. UND 4, Miami 0 — Keaton Thompson (Brendan O’Donnell, Derek Rodwell) 12:58. O’Donnell passes it out of the corner to Thompson, who is alone on top. He waits for traffic to set up, then blasts it high glove, chasing McKay. UND 4, Miami 1 — Sean Kuraly (Austin Czarnik, Max Cook) 15:17 (pp). Schmaltz fell down while battling Kuraly for a puck, and Kuraly skates in alone. He makes a move and slides it five-hole. Second period UND 5, Miami 1 — Drake Caggiula (Rocco Grimaldi, Michael Parks) :54. Right away in the second period, Grimaldi flies up the right wing with speed and it appears like he’s about to go for a wraparound. Instead, he slips the puck into the crease area. Caggiula can’t put it in on his first attempt, but the RedHawk D can’t clear it and Caggiula scores on his second one. UND 6, Miami 1 — Dillon Simpson (Mark MacMillan, Michael Parks) 2:28 (pp). Parks makes a good pass to MacMillan in the crease. MacMillan makes a re-direct and Williams gets the first one, but Simpson chips a backhand in for a power-play goal. http://undhockey.areavoices.com
