Yeah, I did say participate, so my apologies on how I worded it. What my brain was trying to say and how I wrote it were kind of different. I guess what I was implying was the way you "phrased" it...like I participated in a manner that agreed with the subject matter. I don't take any of these conversations personal and actually have an honest, fun time participating back with people such as yourself when the replies are thoughtful like yours.
The Penroses are fine and all...would rather win one than not...but they just don't excite the fan base. During the Hak era, you knew you could count on buying a ticket to the Final Five, a regional, or Frozen Four and get UND's best. The excitement was always buzzing in March and April, even in Hak's worst years. Now, fewer and fewer have any excitement to go to these events in fear of yet another lackluster postseason performance....to the detriment of not only the UND Hockey program, but the NCHC and NCAA in a small trickle-down effect. The Ralph has had some pretty blah attendance at times too.
No doubt it sucks that somehow we never got over the hurdle and won that 8th title under Hak's leadership, but I think it's just one of those weird statistics that will mar him for no other reason than it was just dumb [bad] luck. But, there was impressive talent that Hak would bring in. The style of play we had was fun to watch. His teams had character and you could define the traits of our team. Now, it's a hodgepodge of mediocre transfer portal kids, some okay talent that I wouldn't consider blue chip in all but a few cases, and the hockey world doesn't look at us with the same respect it used to.
Well said brother if you make it across town to augies I’ll buy a one

The "soft" thing is interesting to consider. UND is built quite a bit differently than it used to be. They take fewer penalties than almost everyone, and have the skill to win by winning the special teams battle. But the skill guys are pretty soft, Blake's wipeout of Rizzo notwithstanding. Do we need more grinders? Or skill guys with more of an edge? I don't know. Maybe they go on a run and this discussion is unnecessary.
Pshh grinders we have what two goal scorers and that’s it

I did a quick search, found the last Fire Hak thread from 2015 (like a month before it was announced he took the Flyers coaching job).
A lot of the same posters, for sure. And yes, you were a participant in that thread.
No worries though, as I said...it is just how things are around here. How many ncaa wins berry got since his tourney win? 1?
is that the new standards 1 win in 7 years? Ok fine by me

What Hak did was incredible…outside of not winning the big one. His teams were very good. The bar was obv going to lower.
But all honesty with the amount of funding we get compared to other teams the bar should be said hi

What were coaches words of wisdom after the game
I don’t have the radio on because I’m at the game or was at the game now I’m walking to my Uber to go to Augies, but I can only imagine about how he talks about the culture and how it stood up against the other teams culture and how we played hard rough, and a few bounces didn’t go away

But we have a good culture?

I will say that a culture seems to be showing up of “we play when we want to play, or we’ll start playing when we get desperate. Omaha plays with our old culture, they kept coming at us the whole game even when they had a comfortable lead!
They beat us up I have never eeen a team sinsoft

Here is my complaint. Why do we insist on keeping the goal scoring line on the ice after we score a goal? Livanavage makes it 4-3 and we leave them on the ice. The line ends up hemmed in in their zone ... you can tell Livanavage is gassed and then doesn't make the play to defend the guy who scores the goal right after. He also missed a play earlier in the sequence where I could tell he was gassed.
This weekend is over ... focus on next weekend and be glad we will be a 2 seed and NOT in Sioux Falls with Omaha.
