Sal Atticum Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 This week is National Earth Science Week (October 10-16th). To help promote National Earth Science Week, Sigma Gamma Epsilon is hosting "Night at the Museum" on Saturday, October 16th from 5-7 pm. This free event is open to the public and we have sent out hundreds of flyers (mostly electronically). There will be at least 5 hands-on activities for the families to do and guided tours of the museum. karew . schumaker @ und . edu Sigma Gamma Epsilon is the national earth science honorary, not another fraternity. The local chapter, Beta Zeta, has historically been one of the strongest chapters. In case anyone didn't know, Beta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Epsilon leads tours of Leonard Hall, home of the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering, for school groups (public and home-schooled) throughout the academic year--several hundred children annually. As mentioned above, there is more to these tours than just the lobby museum; the kids always enjoy hands-on activities more than listening to someone lecture at them. If you haven't taken the chance to bring your kids through or if they've gone to visit the Triceratops skull without you on a class trip, this is a great chance to visit as a family and learn about the earth.
